  1. That one is on my shopping list for my big bike...
  2. Sound good - where did you source them? Price?
  3. I think the link between nazism and eBikes has been well documented. I heard Trump owns one too.
  4. Ya, but guys on normal bikes say that to you all the time don't they, so you used to it? (Sorry could not resist)
  5. Yes, it was hard in the beginning, but after a few minor bike tossing incidents, she became a really keen mtb and even road cyclist. So, yes, it can be done without mechanical doping.
  6. You know I bet she'd be slimmer and fitter if she had simply started riding a real bike...
  7. Do you own a pedal assist motorbike shop by any chance?
  8. Yes you're right. An eBike is the same as a bicycle just as your YZ is a ss steel steed. I just woke up.
  9. Hahahaha.Well my steel bike might beg to differ with your YZ pal. I think we might have to set up an intervention...
  10. I will. I'll get mine hopped to the max. It will basically wheel spin the whole way up the hill and the extra heavy duty battery pack will make it so heavy it will descend like a boat anchor.
  11. Is that what we want - more people clogging the trails? That's why we don't road cycle like you. We hate traffic.
  12. I want to slowly upgrade my big bikes rather hefty and not very strong Roval wheels. The rims are already showing some dents and the rear hub drive side bearings have a bit of play developing. I will start at the back by buying a hub and later a rim and decent spokes. I want a 32h Boost rear hub. Obviously I'd like a DT 350 or a Hope but I am on a teeny budget so I have been looking at hubs like the Lyne and Rapide versions. They look like Hope knock offs from China and are pretty light. The Rapide one claims to have quality Enduro bearings. I am running a cheapish Funn 4 pawl hub on my HT and its been brilliant which makes me think a cheaper hub may not be a waste of money if I get the right one. Any brilliant suggestions guys?
  13. I hope you tjooned him what you thought of his parking and his lame eBike thing bru?
  14. I think that was Chris Nixons bike - he seems to have swapped it for his Trek. I am not a fan of the dull paintwork on this and several other high end bikes eg the Nomad. Still, its better than the Intense day glo nonsense.
  15. That's a good idea. I'm keen on a Tokai ride because its nice and close to home... Call a ride and see who manages to get it together. Some of us have kids and our time is limited hence the solo missions when a gap appears...
  16. I still remember those lekker road races around the Southern Peninsula - blocking cars on the road up to the neck and so on... I wonder if they will ever come back... Their absence is a major reason I never do any road fun rides.
  17. For the first time in almost ever I liked my Butcher Grid up front. It was at JH on some decently steep trails which also made my big bike feel quite appropriate. I think the difference is that in a race you push a bit harder the increased speed into corners can lead to greater grip (or not as the case may be. I have also mastered getting over the front a bit better). The steeper trails also weight the front tyre nicely. One other piece of gear I will be saving up for is a 170mm dropper post. There is nothing worse than attempting a steep and bumpy trail with the lowered seat in the way.
  18. That was a great event. Well done on the organization. It went super smooth from my point of view. Taping off the dangerous stuff was a good move on the uber difficult sections. They were still hard as hell. (Note to self.. dont try ride a trail like the Plumber mostly blind on a race)
  19. My best was on the Hoogies Cobra. Came round the gnarliest left hander - the one with the double into it - and half way round I notice the glistening black head and beady eye of a Cape Cobra rearing up on my left - like 1m away or less. I rode on a few meters and then walked back to warn my wife. Snake was long gone. Probably more scared than I was...
  20. Its a bit of a joke - especially that stuff about not accelerating too hard or you could go out of control. You know like a drag racer at the track when in fact all you did was drive as the manufacturer intended the car to be used. Perhaps they want you to lug around in too high a gear and damage the engine?
  21. I have just started using the app. To my mind the parameters are far too restrictive amd encourage bad/plonker driving. 1. The harsh braking is an absolute joke - I have numerous incidents allegedly, none of which i can recall. 2. The on ramp speeding criteria fosters bad driving. You're entering a fast moving high way at 60? Really. I have been marked down for speeding as I exit the on ramp into a 120 zone. My pet hate, drivers who enter a freeway at a speed far below the speed of the cars on the highway making it unsafe to enter the traffic stream and encouraging... harsh acceleration! 3. Harsh cornering and acceleration. Another joke. This app doesn't know what harsh cornering is. And my car is way slow compared to a modern hot hatch i.e over 8 secs to 100. I think cornering on a bicycle down Chappies would set it off. 4. The phone distraction measure is the only one I have got 100% of and this despite using my phone in its cradle periodically. Sorry Discovery. I give you a 1 out of 5 for this app.
