  1. Wolwespruit is the biggest reason I want to learn to jump properly, I went there on Sunday and it was such a fat jol going down that flow line.... I ride flats, I personally wouldn't dare riding a mtb clipped in, a road bike with cleats is scary enough thanks. I can bunny hop, the proper way, front wheel first, but translating that to a jump is where I need help, the jumps that I can do/have done, are all table tops, what I have found and can feel, is that use speed to clear jumps, staying relatively low, but getting the distance, because I "squash" the bike into face, without popping up. I have done MX and Enduro on dirtbikes, but, to me at least, jumping a dirt bike and a MTB are VERY different beasts. Pieter1, send me a DM and we can make plans, I dont ride everyday or even every other day, but we can still maybe do some riding together
  2. Yep, very useful bunch... I saw the last post peach put up was in Jan, he may still be operational, but I dont really have R1300 for a session, I know a proper coach would be best, but alas, not always an option, will just have to keep watching videos and try apply those lessons alone
  3. Hey hubbers, any chance there is someone on the Hub, in the Gauteng area, that wouldn't mind giving me some guidance on how to jump properly?
  4. Have to agree with this, if it were me, I would hands down go for the Slade Comp, I was in a similar boat to you last year, I bought a cheaper bike, 2 weeks later I went and got a Silverback Stride SX as there were no Slade Comps available, if you can stretch the budget, I dont think you will regret it
  5. Interesting ????
  6. Saw a 160mm Lyrik on FB today for R7k
  7. Awesome, thanks guys, he is on a Giant I am on a Norco, so no funny business that I am aware of ????
  8. Quick question for the knowledgeable people here in Hub Land. A friend of mine has offered to let me try out his wheelset, something he may regret in the future. His are Carbon, mine alloy, but, he has GX Eagle drivetrain, whereas my bike has Shimano 12speed drivetrain, both are 12x148 hubs. What are the chances the wheel would just fit in and run? Except maybe aligning the brake caliper? Would the derailleur have be adjusted as well? How much of a ball ache would it be to do the swap?
  9. The Optic has less rear travel than the Fluid? That doesn't sound right ????
  10. Maybe have a look at the Merida 120 400 as well, and the Norco Fluid
  11. A cheapie to get some extra mileage and save the MTB for trails, and took the "advice" of many a hubber and got a red one, because its faster.....
  12. I did my helmets in the bath with me once, my wife gave me funny looks and couldn't stop laughing, now its awkward to do again....
  13. These sound like the perfect places for me ???????????? please add me Zero79 four92 4four68
  14. I wish my heart rate would stay in zone 2, if I pedal on the spinning bike at home, then I can manage, but literally, when I swing my leg over my bike for a ride, my HR skyrockets and refuses to come down till I am finished the ride....
  15. Pity it did not help for you
  16. I had some Specialized flat pedals, they were actually really nice pedals, I bought the Stamps because I thought they would have a bigger platform, but they were very much the same size, and the Spaz pedals actually gripped better than the Stamps, not much, but a little better, kept the Stamps because they are serviceable, lighter and look better I honestly never looked at pin heights or anything like that
  17. Sad that ARAMEX has dropped the ball so badly, I used to regularly use them and their drop box system, nice and cheap and it was very reliable, drop off by 16:00 and by 11:00 the next day it would be delivered, for R99 it was great, but last week I dropped a parcel off on Monday, and by Saturday it still had not even been picked up, now my customer is pissed off with me, his customer with him..... Booker in with XOC now, but it is more than double the price
  18. Also sometimes get numb feet with my 5 10 Freerides, not as bad anymore though, sometimes it doesnt happen at all, kinda weird, one thing that made a big difference was making sure my laces are not to tight, when I first got them my feet went numb really quickly, thought it might be pedals, so changed to large Stamp 2, still went numb, then I started making my laces less tight, and that has helped PLENTY, now my laces are just tight enough that the shoes wont "ejecto seato" but loose enough that I can slip them on relatively easily without undoing the laces
  19. My Norco Fluid, LOVING this bike, went down in travel a bit from my last bike, but this bike is better in every way, I get more and more excited each time I ride it...
  20. I shipped a bike to Eastern Cape from JHB with courier guy, I boxed it up and dropped it off at the depo, cost R320 to ship it down, and took 3 days
  21. Fitted a Rapide N/W chainring to my bike on the weekend, using the Shimano 12 speed chain, just fitted a SRAM powerlock link, everything is fine, no noise, still shifts nice and smooth....
  22. What this has to do with this thread and the OP question, or any of the other comments, I have no idea ????????
  23. For Silver Steel you could try Broadway Heat Treatment in Benoni, I am sure if you asked nicely they would cut pieces to the correct length you want, and they can harden it as well..
  24. That hanger is definitely bent, happened to me when I had a Stumpy as well, new hanger was like R350, but the gears are a little finicky to setup up properly, I put an XX1 12 speed chain on, that smoothed out the shifting a little as well
  25. As far as I know, Giant still makes the 650b Trance, but Giant sa does not bring them in...
