  1. The colour clashed with my eyes Seriously - the Reflex frames seem to have a very relaxed geometry and are classed in Scott's brochures even as a general recreational MTB. (Think more Harley Davidson than KTM in geometry and ride position). I also found that I spent 90% of the time with the rear shock locked out to avoid pedal bob. Was actually convinced that this was what all FS MTB's were like and was considering a HT. Also, while the components were OK i.e. groupset for the price, I think the Scott rear shock is not that good. All of this proved to me that a good FS will cost much more than 12k and at this price it would, imho, be better to go HT. Remember though, this is only my opinion and others may love the Reflex. (my son has the Reflex 15 and also has the same opinions though) racman2007-10-06 04:48:21

  3. Hey look,there's blood on the ground - AND IT"S BLUE !!!!
  4. Of course, if I had the money I would go for........ Titus Racer X
  5. had one, sold it, won't buy another
  6. It will take an extremely good bargain and great components to get me to buy a raleigh FS
  7. which model?
  8. What is the cheapest decent FS MTB available today? Thinking about getting a MTB to do races etc and researching at the moment. I don't think an "All Mountain" type of MTB would be suitable but more XC and Enduro (I think). I don't neccessarily want to get a HT as well as a FS but (after reading "slowpoke's" thread) also don't want to buy a heavy, FS when I can get a better HT. Any advice?
  9. Mampara, maybe 102 is your excitement threshold and so your body involuntarily jumps and bounces for joy when you hit this number - maybe its a subconscious thing
  10. why didn't I think of that
  11. Looks good but I don't have any carbon shirts !
  12. I see Analyser's status shows "suspended" on his profile - what does that mean?

  15. Hey Joe Low (or Thyolo - wondered what happened to you) - you are not alone. I pick up weight incredibly quickly as I am cursed with an extremely slow metabalism from years and years of high stress job resulting in one meal a day and normally late at night. Started to remedy this last year and lost 25kg training for Argus but put 15 back over winter with no "sweets" and binging like everyone presumes. I envy the guys who can eat like a horse and yet never put on weight or excercise much. I eat like a fly (but irregulary - which is the problem) and can put on 5kg in one week if I am not carefull)racman2007-09-29 10:56:46
  16. What is the formula for working out your required calorie intake per day - anyone know? (and no - I don't want it measured in "pizzas", "big mac" or "Charles Glass" index )
  17. Thx everyone. I bought a slighly used 2006 Campag Centaur with FSA crankset. Unfortunately, while I would have liked compact this was a triple but at R2k it was too good a deal to miss.
  18. serves them right for riding bikes with AK47's
  19. Hey BigH, with so much storage i.e. saddle bags, wouldn't it have been better to get roof racks !!!
  20. Excuse my ignorance but - what the #$@% are "compression Garments" ? I thought I knew after the first few posts but now after the Swartkat & neon lights, I am totally confused. Are they "under" garments and what do they compress ?racman2007-09-25 05:58:32
  21. Well - it's definately not secret training now!! Hope everything's Ok after the fall.
  22. Maybe I am missing something but why does it cost R350-R500 to set up saddle height and cleat position! In reality isn't this the only real issue that needs major setup input? I know stem length plays a part but most of the setups issues seem to revolve around cleat position and saddle height.
  23. FanD - put a Selle Thoork Gel Flow on my new BMC and although thought it would be uncomfortable, it is both comfortable and reasonably light - I think about 205g
  24. and you are going to TRY and do 50k this weekend !!! Keep us posted on the training and if it works. My suggestion - lots and lots of EPO!!!! Ok That was a joke my "braza" - drugs are VERY bad for you racman2007-09-19 05:27:46
  25. Will probably have to do my own "slowcoach" training camp this weekend Sat - Somerset to Betty's Bay and back Sun - Somerset to Franschoek & back (via Stellenbosch) hopefully Mon - As per Sat. I need to find more routes as it gets boring All at 25km/hr and wind dependent i.e. must have wind at back for most of the way <- this means just joking !! Unless of course anyone has any other LSD rides going this weekend that I can join?racman2007-09-18 12:35:11
