  1. Give A-Type Grafix a try. Had an original batch made by bicistickers.com - very good quality, but about R15/sticker. Then had A-Type do the same thing for the same price, but got about 200 stickers in stead of 12.... Give Ruan Chamberlain a shout at ruan@a-type.co.za - they will do pretty much anything you need! Cheers, Christo
  2. Hi Guys, Some background... My scott spark rc 900 comp 2020 has syncros silverton 2.5 wheels fitted with a standard HG/shimano freebody. I would presume that the hubs are some form of DT Swiss (3 pawl) as per the post above. The end caps however do not just pop off (as one can see in the dt swiss tutorials on youtube) - they require a 11mm hex to remove. If I wanted to move to an XD drive, would the standard 3 pawl xd driver with through axel end cap (as sold by bike-addict or cyclelab) be sufficient? Or is there a different solution to this? Thanks! Christo
  3. Dropped @gemmerbalat the Worcester shuttle a little while ago. He’s good to go! Let’s do this!
  4. Last trip down Ouberg in May - with @gemmerbal. Was interesting..... Fortunately light enough to mostly see where you're going. Nice and fresh -6 degrees just to make it fun... hahaha
  5. T-minus 2 days! Good luck guys and girls!
  6. Look, not riding this monster… but Ouberg is a serious concern - particularly if it’s dark. Horrible road surface and dangerous drops both sides at times. Might be worth your while to tackle that in daylight 😬
  7. This is such a boost! Fantastic!
  8. Jou knieë gaan nie die Dakar maak op 50 nie.. haahahahaha 😛
  9. I think the point is still that most amateurs do this because the can. Not for podiums or prize money. If you want to do it and can afford it.. Ride away!
  10. I think this is exactly the point. You do this sort of race because you can. You challenge yourself. you race yourself. Entry fees/prize money are not really part of that equation. Yes it's expensive, but so is a holiday in Europe. Or going to run the Ultra Trail Mont Blanc as an amateur. Most of us reading this an commenting are (I presume...) amateur athletes, so podiums are not really in the equation. So whether it's the skiing holiday in Switzerland or the Karoo... Just depends what floats your boat... or bike!
  11. Taking the R43 towards Bains there is a wide shoulder all the way. There's reasonable traffic, but the other routes there have little or no shoulder. Never had any safety issues myself. From Worcester to Villiersdorp on the R43 there's little to no shoulder with plenty traffic. Did parts of it before and it's hair raising... Worcester-Wolseley-Wellington and back to Worcester via Bains may be an option. Enjoy!
  12. Hi @gemmerbal and @ChrisF As far as trails go, I'm not aware of anything starting around the Rietdakkie. Some very good riding in that area, but mostly with organised events. (Wolseley MTB festival is on the 29th of October btw...) If you venture into the Slanghoek valley there's some good stuff at the Slanghoek Cellar. Don't bother with Du Toitskloof's trails, tbh. De Wet cellar has some nice trails too. Plenty of gravel around between Worcester, McGregor, Robertson and Montagu as well if that's your fancy. Check out Komoot! The whole of Worcester has plenty of marked (via Worcester Wheelers) and unmarked trails. All is pretty much natural dirt/farm road, etc with very little to no formally built trails. The terrain is harsh with plenty of shale rock - buggers up tires! Cheers, Christo
  13. That buy a donkey video is definitely worth a watch! Rae Trew-Browne, Bas Rotgans and Max Riese give a great view of some of the route and the challenges!
  14. agreed with the above - buying a new bike is a big expense AND a big adjustment. ride your bike and enjoy!
  15. What a brilliant cause!
  16. Thanks for the support! @DJuice 🦾
  17. Lekker! Sterkte ou maat!
  18. padstal terug deur waatlemoenfontein en r355 suid to weer bd padstal 🦾
  19. Mate of mine bought a 2021 Cypher RS pro earlier this year. Lovely bike! Well worth the cash. And it's local
  20. I'm using the Indola Girona bibs and they work really well on rides of 6h plus. Good quality, well priced and local.
  21. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  22. Any takes on the gravel bike tyres (locally available) with the best sidewall protection? I’m running maxxis rambler 700x38c and while they are pretty good, every issue seems to be sidewall related. Obviously tyre pressure, terrain, etc makes a difference. I ride on harsh gravel/shale 98% of the time. May just bad luck… or technique…! Amy thoughts?
  23. This way or that. Did the shortened version last year and it is, hands down, the coolest biking event I’ve been to. Great route, great people, superb organization, etc. Cannot fault these guys. Just bummed to be missing out on the full gran fondo Eroica this time around 😬
