  1. LOL Or here ... http://www.supplementssa.com/ Amazing delivery time, almost always within 2 days of order. Even in JHB (They PE based).
  2. Sorry about the news! That's a coincidence ... I was on my way to Northern Farms a few weeks ago and saw a white van parked on Summit, just after Main intersection, there were some dodgy guys who looked like they were loading some softails into the van, though I wasn't too sure as I came past too fast to see any details. Maybe someone involved in law enforcement should check that area out?
  3. I used to own a GT I-Drive 4 and moved last year to a Morewood Shova as I was unhappy with the dogbone near the pedals that kept breaking! I must say the Shova is a solid machine, it's heavier than my old GT but you can keep your lightweight faerie stuff thanks! I'm more of a XC'er but do enjoy throwing in a bit of freestyle and ramping here and there, both bikes ran 2.35 wheels but I feel a lot more confident on the downhills and over ramps than I did on my GT, I've never had anything arb break on the bike, I just trust it so much more and will probably be keeping it for a long time or upgrading the frame to the 2012 version
  4. I bumped into a few okes on the trail on Saturday that said a large majority of riders there pack up and eat down the road because it's way cheaper than Teak. I've also experiences some slow service there. Vote with your wallet I say!
  5. LOL!! To true, ride back and pick up the pieces!
  6. Hmmmm! Good point .. The worst to get cold is ears, nose, mouth, hands and feet! From top to bottom I Currently have Headband - block the wind through your helmet and on your ears Buff - Face and nose Top - One of those thin parachute materials jols to stop the wind (These are amazing), as well as a thicker vesty thing underneath that on really cold days. Armies - Naaah, the top above does a good enough job. Gloves - I bought myself some Endura Deluge gloves from CRC, I have never complained about the cold in these, even in minus degrees weather! They have a fleece type material on the inside and are waterproof too, plus they have a wrist fastener to prevent wind popping in from the back. Leggies - Your standard leggies. Feet - (And here's where they make fun of me ) I wear those short stockings under my socks (They make a big difference) and on freezing days I wear Endura overshoes as well, these probably fall in the same category as bar ends on riser bars that some people seem to hate (I bribe the fashion police ). You can make fun of overshoes all you want but they do cut back the cold and also stop splashes and dew from grass getting your feet wet!
  7. Eggbeaters were a bit too tight for me, I'm now on Time Atac XS pedals, they have 3 settings for tension, easy to clip into and out of, shred mud very well and have a pleasant snapping sound when you engage
  8. Browser doesn't really matter, you have to hammer the refresh (F5) key until it loads
  9. Yup you can upload straight from the www.connect.garmin.com website to your Edge800, even from other user profiles. Find it on your edge under "Courses" hit "Go" and it will map the route for you. At this point you can hit the start button to start your trip timers. It will know whether you are at the start of the coarse or give you the option of navigating to the start first. I've only done it once but it doesn't talk to you, merely give you a sharp shrill noise if you veer off the path you're supposed to take
  10. WHAT!?!? They did the EXACT SAME thing to me! Also with a bike stand in separate box! And they wanted to charge vat 2x R1700 for each box. So I sent it back to customs, with a note explaining what they did wrong, got it back a week later for the correct amount. GRRRRR! Best to tell CRC not to split boxes if you plan on buying a lot !
  11. Ugggg small claims. Been there done that, lost more money. If the guy is pleb and doesn't have much money it becomes more difficult, he can move houses after they have attached goods and then you are back to square one unless you can find him. You need to contact the local Sheriff's office (Closer to him is better to save costs). They will be able to tell you what the procedure is but with the theft in my case in involved sending a registered letter of demand to his house, waiting 2 weeks or so for him to respond and then starting with application for small claims at the magistrate court. Last I heard it was only to the value of R7000. But either way, good luck, it's not heaps of fun!
  12. I had to do it once for lights, but I think it involves paying the 2nd time, then taking all proof through to customs to ask for a refund, so jah, now you know what I think it's better to sell They did refund me my postage though (And it wasn't even CRC!)
  13. You might be able to send it back as "Faulty goods" (Organise with CRC first), then when it comes back you have to collect from customs and produce the first invoice for the item. This way you won't be charged a second time for collecting the "same" goods. To be honest, I would rather sell that fork here for cost+shipping than go through all of that !
  14. Ahhhh, nope it's not the needle and plugs version, it's like you say the ones they use on cars. It's a beeg patch with a bit of latex on the bottom that you need to glue and leave to harden on the tyre for 10 mins or so. You need these if you have really large cuts as the plugs wont do. They do sell these on CRC but for the life of me I can't find them in the LBS. They only sell gators that work for tubed tyres.
  15. The local bike shops seem very uninterested in selling these kinda patch kits because I think they would prefer selling you a new tyre with their super 100% + markup I bought a proper car patch kit from a wheel repair place (Can't remember which one), and the R70 glue that comes with it to fix my tyre. I had a pretty big hole about 3mm away from the edge of the tyre (Sidewall cut, nasty snakebite). And it worked like a charm! On your next CRC order you might wanna get yourself a few of the bike tubeless patch kits though
  16. It's not a surefire way of preventing it, but you should apply the bomb to the top of your wheel while the slime sits at the bottom. From my experience it's the direct jet of air/Co2 that solidifies slime and not the temperature. And if you change tyres on your rim, it helps to inflate the tyre first so that the beading sits correctly around the rim, then deflate through the valve, unscrew the tip of the valve, pour slime in with a top up tube (A little 75ml Stans top up bottle will do), reconnect the valve tip and inflate with a pump. Also, if you have a decent pump like a Topeak JoeBlow Ace, you can inflate a newly swapped tyre without the need for a bomb, saving you some bucks in the long run
  17. I bought my 13 year old step-son a medium frame Merida, something that will last him at least the next 5 years (Hopefully 10!). He just drops the seat down a bit. If I compare that to how his 9 year old brother rides it's completely different! Whilst I would consider something cheaper, I definately would not get a Makro special, rather look for a decent 2nd hand bike on the hub
  18. Ummmm YES! And I knew that! Because ..... I'm from Sweden
  19. What?? I'm from Sweden!
  20. Turns out the shoes and helmet were in their own boxes with no discernable pictures or descriptions, wonder if that had anything to do with it? I can suggest buying MET helmets and Northwave shoes, boxes are boring, items are great ! ;D
  21. Running a 150mm RockShox Revelation U Turn on my 2010 Shova, as suggested by Andre from Rushsports. Must say I almost never nose dive or wheelie over ramps, just plain level sailing, and I haven't washed out on any turns (Then again I don't push it that hard ). Running Fox RP23 on rear. I just make sure both shock and forks are topped to correct pressure for my weight once a month! As far as I can remember you just measure from top of seat post (Not seat) to the centre of the bottom bracket for frame size, I think 17" is medium? Could be wrong!
  22. So ordered a few bits n bobs from CRC over a week ago, about R4k total, but half of that was shoes and helmet, so I was expecting to pay the huge duty for that ontop of the VAT. Turns out the total to collect at post office was R660 ! I wonder if these customs okes look at the first item they see in the box and base the calculation on that ?! Seems a bit random at times. All I know is it's good to get a freebie now and then

    Plugs!

Okay, so many of us running UST tires have probably had to put a plug in at some point, I'd just like to know what your experience has taught you about this sometimes tricky procedure. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info online about this! So this weekend we decided to hit the Spruit again, and without fail, every time we do, someone has a technical fail, this time it was my turn I managed to get a snakebite in my UST tire ages ago at MTN cycle park, so I have a hole in the sidewall very close to the rim. I plugged it with a worm which lasted months and then decided to give the tire a once over before the Clarens race, but due to it not holding after many attempts, I ended up switching tires for the day. Now not wanting to waste the tread on my old tire I put it back on recently without much luck at keeping it inflated! I had to replace worms/plugs 4x on our Spruit ride. Using the suggested method, thread the plug half way through the needle tool they provide, insert until the 2 "tails" are sticking out a few cm's, squeeze the tire and remove the needle tool, twist the tails with fingers, then inflate with pump. This lasted 30 mins or less. On the third try, I tried to twist the plug on the inside with the tool instead of outside with my hands, this seemed to work a bit better but on the 4th try I perfected the style a little better, and instead of inflating with pump, I used a bomb. My first thought was that the bomb was going to force the plug out before it could take hold but the plug actually seemed to hold better than slowly slip out like it did with the pump. I'm guessing it got squished against wall due to sudden pressure. Anyone else have similar experiences or better methods at handling the plug situation?
  24. My girlfriend works at Maxxis, organised my old man a Crossmark and a Monorail from local distributors. Each cost R140excl. Vat, that means bike shops are charging over 100% markup, if not closer to 200%. I vote with my wallet on CRC or wherever I can get a good deal
  25. LOL Because I already lost 3kgs since December
