  1. One of the owners of the race was a colleague of mine a long time ago. At the last race of 2011 he told me that they're gonna have only six races this year instead of one every month. Lets hope this works out, as it is one of my favourite races t do
  2. checked mine, awaiting province approval, then it still needs to get csa approval and only then can i print the card
  3. I are to be fienking that dem spelling natsies here on de hap sjoed ghou there....
  4. Thanks Rouxtjie and Grondpad. Checked out the Sasol one quickly, looks nice. I began incorporating running into my training this year after almost two months of doing nothing worthwhile, and still need to do some seriaaas training, but its good to see there is something to work towards to
  5. I am considering doing events similar to this but only the running and mtb part, I cant swim at all. Do any of you know if there are "dutahlons" like this doing the rounds? Ive looked on ndorfin.co.za but couldnt see any Thanks
  6. hmm we are still at 7minutes trying before he gets of,,,,gets in random quarter crank turns, but most of the time just spins backwards....making fun of it and each time has cycle helmet on etc...no use in getting impatient....whatcan i do to make it more fun for him?
  7. Awesome responses, had a good chuckle at some of them! We didnt get him a balance bike or something similar before, just one of those plastic kick bikes, and with that he is like a litle daredevil. Will be going the side wheels for a while. Ratty, probably the most usable advice there, I take Reghardt on his bike a few minutes a day, push hi around a bit, explaining what he should do with his legs.Today he said after 7 minutes "ek is nou moeg" so we stopped. I dont want him to get discouraged, so we make quite a game out of it, today i was requested by him to get into my whole cycling outfit, and i obliged, it got him on the bike at least Maybe I should document our progress here each day or so, and see how we go, even if other future first time bike buyer moms and dads can learn from our mistakes, it will be worth it. No matter how good or bad it goes, any time spent with the little man is priceless
  8. I bought the little hubber, almost three years old his first bike. He looks soooo cute with the helmet on. But we are struggling to get him to ride properly. I take his feet, put them on pedals in the right position, and he does get a quarter pedal turn in sometimes, but mostly pedals backwards. I take his feet/legs and try and show hom the correct manner. How can we get the little guy going quickly? But its fun doing this with my son, and I have to have my helmet on while we are practising, or he wont wear his!
  9. You guys are all so lucky. My wife wants nothing to do with the sport at all. She doenst even attend races and browse around with little hubber in tow. But it gives us both some "me time" which is a good thing, and she gives me time to go ride whenever I need it. She actually gives me a lot of support in the form of munchies for a ride here, and sometimes make my on the bike drinks. So thats ok I guess. On another point, my little hubber will be getting his first real bike for Xmas, its gonna be so cool hitting a few trails with the little man one day!
  10. Congrats to 'Dale for the Hubber of the Year award. How about a little something for the man, Admin? agree with Le Turbo: Hate the Hub, love the hub......etc etc etc Awesome site, in general very informative and entertaining, some weird characters hanging around here, but in general a good bunch of guys and girls. Hope all Hubbers have a safe festive season and get in many many miles!!
  11. Something about the Ibis makes me weak at the knees....damn that is one sexy lookin beast. If I had the ZAR's for one, it would be in my Xmas stocking. Capt Mayhem, where is that LBS in your dreams again, maybe I should go and have a look!

    Tow bar

Jep, Steelite's all good....so go get it
  13. where are the results posted? Not that I have high hopes or anything. Due to our level of fitness, my riding partner and I voluntarily acted as sweepers!
  14. that girl has matured beautifully....
  15. thats mainly why I will never setlle for any of the two brands as listed in my first post. My common sense tells me, have your website up and running before starting to sell the product. They are also VERY hesitant in providing specs etc etc...anyways years ago there was an Afrikaans tv series, with the one oke having a motto that went like "mense wat dink hulle is d*nners smart is nie altyd so d*nners smart nie". With that, I rest my case
  16. what kinda pressure should one be looking at for wet/muddy conditions? I run Schwalbe Smart Sam back and front
  17. Think Rouxtjie nailed it....cable ties and black bags..... or put the bike on passenger seat and wife/girlfriend/fiance outside on roof of car.
  18. jip Cassie, net so. Dis amper soos een v daai soapies op SABC....kan dit nie kyk vir maande nie, en jy het net 5min nodig om alles op te vang.
  19. as far as I know....the new AXIS range of MTB's replaced the nomad range, and are being distributed by Probike Saw the two next to one another in a LBS in my region (Axis A90 and Nomad 20) EXACTLY the same, just differerce in Specs, but nearly the same. I dont know but to me it seems like a dying brand was resuurected and through this the consumers are being "crooked" a bit I'd say. Ok flame away if you wish
  20. I normally go for the Windhoek and draft option, thats probably why I'll never reach that 380g per cm thing....oh well
  21. maybe the salesman wanted to fiddle around....these days you never know
  22. Use car shampoo, have a set of 5 different brushes, and use gleen green in chain cleaner thingy (undiluted), brush off, rinse off with hose (fine mist) after washing, dry with cloth, let dry in sun, mr Min on tyres (NOT THE THREAD) lube later in the day or next morning. Got my hands on some rubbing compound, will do a nice yearly polish over Dec
  23. I bought my first MTB last year, a Bianchi Doss 5100, for R4000-00. Not the greatest, but good enough for me. (mecahnical disc brakes, sunbtour fork, Alivio Shifters, Deore deraillers etc) Did (and still do) Groenkloof regularly, a few 60km races and Karoo to Coast. Only thing I changed is the tyres and obviously a few minor maintenance related items. The bike has been abused somewhat, and litte niggles are starting to creep out here and there. Personally, I would not upgrade an entry level bike, rather ride it until it falls apart, flog it, and get yourself a better specced bike. This is a good time of the year to buy a new bike as it was said already that most shops are stocked woith 2012 models and the 2011 ones go for good prices. Another point, as nigelhicks suggested, try and find a good LBS in your area, establish a good relationship with them, support them and they will (should) help you out a lot more than they would once off customers. Bur regardless of the bike you ride, this is an amazing sport! So welcome and enjoy!!
  24. My brother-in-law (comrades runners) also told me that. He said Adidas are for the lighter okes. Its day two of me wearing the shoes in, and they feel aswesome. Will take them on their maiden voyage tomorrow evening. I shopped around first and asked what shoe I should get for the intended purpose, and these were the best option for me. Then I shopped around for the best price, and got it at Tekkie Town (are we allowed to use these words here?)
  25. Cool, thanks guys! @slowbee: I normally take a size 10, but I know New Balance is a bit narrow for me, so ended up with a ten and half, and it fits perfect. And for the price: R549-90 its not a bad shoe at all! Had a smiliar pair years back and can remember they lasted for about 3 years
