  1. Be a bit more specific, man/woman , what you paying etc. Or is this more the "privilege of being in a video" plus some smarties more along the lines of payment? I'm sure the editor would love to "use" some hubbers in his shoot....
  2. Eeish R150 for what looks like a 500ml bottle is a bit steep. It's just a emulsifier that foams, I use Wynns 59sec mag cleaner R50 for 750ml spray bottle at Midas, same thing quickly and easily removes oily grime and is washed off with water. On the kitted website the specs for that product are a bit daft, they say you want the stuff to clean the chain but not inside the rollers and the foam will prevent that? I think I want the chain cleaned everywhere, ie get the lube and grit out of the rollers so I can relube afresh and just because it starts as foam doesn't mean it won't condense into a fluid and work into the rollers. I have never got any kind of cleaner into BB bearings or any bearing for that matter, and again foam isn't going to magically prevent that, what hog wash! No doubt a good product but overpriced and suspect marketing.
  3. Metal should last a lot longer than organic, R550 every 500km is a pita, I'd try generic pads, often not much between them and originals, some are even better
  4. 30 for me if there's going, black/blue color ways if you got!
  5. Eeish that and a gusting cross wind, will negate any positives!
  6. New chain did not help, can't remember b tension adjustment helping , new 11t cog sorted it out. I changed the cog back to the old one yesterday and it started slipping again.
  7. I'm really struggling to understand what's going on, granted the signs are not elegant or nicely placed, if the signs were as they are but sponsored by Coke or Ola Icecreams would that be ok? Or let's say the signs were as they are but only the Cafe's name, would that be fine? If it's not the signs themselves but rather what's on them then this whole issue is ridiculous, perhaps hard to swallow but thats life. Cafe owner guy may have no style but he's fully entitled to use his business acumen to grow his income and sustainability of his business, nothing new. The place is mtb riding heaven and you seem surprised he brings a bike company on board to co-sponsor his site, logical if you ask me, nothing about hijacking of anything, if the signs are legal and on his site then all good, maybe put Spez signs on the trail entry or exit etc if you feel you need to offer Spez better exposure and you think that is fair use. Only leg you have to stand on is if there are site rules regarding signage size/placement/co-branding, if not just suck it up and roll on by, maybe get back to enjoying the trails you cherish so dearly - that's what the park is all about at the end of the day! Edit. Looks like I was beaten to the post about the coke/Icecream sign thing, oh well I'll carry on flogging the horse.
  8. Make sure you get the one that screws onto the valve stem not the valve itself or else you can't have the valve removed whilst inflating which is needed to have max air flow.
  9. There's no ways in hell the very same guards that work at the complex will randomly "find" the stolen bike if they weren't in on it from the beginning, now they bring it back because the reward is so valuable, really dumb move on their part. I say in that case the reward is null and void and they need to be investigated. If anything I would ask the security co to re-assign them to another complex and to ensure they never come back to yours, they should at least polygraph/have disciplinary hearing. We generally have to let criminals rip us off because the cops are not interested but it's not right to let the security guards you pay out of your own pocket get away with it, that's crazy. Maybe ask the complex management if they can squeeze the security co by threatening to move the contact to another company if they don't do something or approach the company yourself and ask them what they think, the supervisor may not be aware of the situation. Good luck with that and the insurance!
  10. My dual air rev always loses 5mm travel from the negative air spring, was 10mm before I replaced the seals.
  11. Wasn't this the same bunch everyone was raving about just after they opened? Or is that the other mega store?
  12. That's bs of note!!! Fitting a tubeless tyre must include putting the sealant in at the same time, wtf.
  13. How did you come to that conclusion? Have used Sram X7/X9/Xx Fd for the last 4yrs and they were all set and forget hassle free no problems at all. Also used Slx and Xt didn't notice them being much better or worse, all I noticed was the more you spend with either brand the better the Fd. Currently using XX Fd and the shift is flawless. Hauw
  14. Selling your bike to solve a wheel problem makes no sense! Get some decent rims, maybe just get a Stan's Flow Ex rim on the front, bomb proof and not overly heavy. But 4 rims in under a year is crazy, especially seeing you are not very heavy, is there anything in the terrain you ride or how you ride that could possibly be causing it?
  15. As flowta mentioned a new 11t solved the problem, just need another one to replace the one I took from my spare cassette, anyone know how much they are about? I'll keep in mind reducing the b tension screw, I think I gave that a try when the issue cropped up a while back, it's only now that I need to use the cassette I stole the 11t off, the original worn 11t cog slipped even with a brand new chain, the splines on my free hub are still good.
  16. Anyone know if you can you get replacement 11t cassette cogs on their own, either SRAM or Shimano is fine and the price thereof. My chain slips on the 11t under power when in the small 26t ring up front , 2x10. I don't typically cross chain like that but every now and then in some situations I'll gear down onto the 11t and then I really need it and it slips, had a few sketchy situations. Tried a 11t from a spare new cassette and that solved the problem but now I need a spare 11t cog to replace it.
  17. Wow, my eyes have been opened! I can see now how a chain and sprocket interact, the exterior of the roller once contacting with tooth face doesn't rotate on the face itself but rather the roller pivots around the roller/bushing and that's why all the lube needs to be there! Why did I not know this before..
  18. Everybody mentions you only need lube inside the rollers, wipe off excess etc, don't you technically want some lube at least on the teeth of the cogs/chainrings to easy the friction and wear there between them and the face of the rollers?
  19. Anyone else had dealings or experiences with this seller?
  20. I use a very similar Wurth lube and it's too thin for bike chains, it's a highly adhesive liquid grease, can't see a silicone product being thick enough.
  21. As Dave mentioned the thread on the top cap to the plastic cart body is left handed - don't forget that! I had the same issue , the shaft was slightly too tight/seized in the top cap, not sure why but that was the issue, so the spring didn't have the strength to overcome the friction when you press the pop lock button to release it. I cracked my cart body by thinking it was a right hand thread so I never got round to sorting the issue out but before that a drop of oil would loosen it up for a while and I was planning on reaming out the shaft hole with fine sandpaper, the shaft does not seal at the point, it seals well below that so you shouldn't introduce leaks by making that hole slightly bigger. My cart was from a 2009 RS fork but they all quite similar.
  22. I personally wouldn't tighten the tension screw to max tension, maybe that's why your first one broke, also makes it noticeably harder to shift up. You just need to adjust the tension to the point where under your hardest riding conditions, ie the bike bouncing around as a result of rough terrain or getting some air, the chain slap is reduced to the minimum you require. Stock tension which is not all the way tightened was too much I loosened it up a bit and only if I really hammer it hard do I get slight chain slap. I'm not running NW but the same principle applies setting it to reduce chain drop, just play around a bit with the tension till you have no chain drop.
  23. You think maybe he thought you weren't the "right" buyer for his merchandise? Maybe you sounded a little too clued up for his means, ie would/did smell a dodgy deal? Have had that experience on gumtree, you phone up to enquire about an ad and the guy on the phone just doesn't sound like the kind of person whom you would expect to own such an item. Then you phone back 10mins later to make an arrangement to come see it and the item is suddenly sold and the guy can't explain to whom or why.
  24. Thanks for updating the thread, was more asking when you would be back to update us here! Did you lay any charges? If the seller is innocent he can explain that to the police and exonerate himself, the police can follow up on what leads he has, otherwise if you leave it then the cycle continues unabated. But ja, fully understand how costly the PI must be and the mission you being so far away.
