  1. That's a good price, those little sets are invaluable, most top notch tool brands make a similar set but they can get very pricey.
  2. Is that for a full set of Park Tool JIS screwdrivers? JIS are very difficult to find in SA and with some kit they are vital to prevent stripping screw heads. They are widely used on photographic equipment.
  3. What the hell!? Is that what you say when you sell something and it arrives with defects that were not disclosed and were clearly there before it was sent, "sorry bro, sold as is, lol" Your logic is way out, how did the classifieds function before Bike Hub Pay arrived? Did every one screw everyone over... sorry man I can see the frame I sold you has a small crack and the fork is a 650B not 29er but too bad.... as is It's called having integrity and the majority of hubbers have it(you included I'm assuming) and that is the reason why the classifieds has been working just fine. I'm assuming by a huge margin most deals go down without a hitch.
  4. I don't know, any one well versed in bikes can give a bike a good looking over, though ideally taking it to a bike mechanic you trust would probably be first prize. It's more a matter of time because to be thorough you need to first get the bike spotlessly clean, then do a meticulous visual inspection, then test what mechanical stuff can be tested on the bike stand and then a solid road test which could be another hour or 2. The basis for all of this really is trust, you trust that the seller sold you the stuff with good intentions and will be reasonable if something that is obviously faulty crops up.
  5. No matter what price an item is sold at it is no excuse to missrepresent it or fob off damaged goods. If it's sold as X in clean condition and good working order then it must arrive as X in clean condition and good working order. Common sense.
  6. The horse is dead, give it a break! The deal wasn't done and agreed via Hub Pay so those terms and conditions are moot. Although I do think 48hrs is a good time frame for buyers to be obliged to inspect and test whatever they have purchased and raise any issues within that window. If they do not bring anything up within that 48hrs then they will by default agree the goods are in order and as described. For many people with full time jobs and families that 48hrs is going to be a scramble if it's a full bike that needs going over with a fine tooth comb... With the bike I bought that turned out to have a cracked frame I only discovered that fact a week later and that only because I decided to strip the bike completely and by chance noticed a hairline crack at the chainstays near the BB.
  7. You have got the plot all wrong - yes there is risk in terms of future issues but the goods must at least arrive in the condition they were promised to be in and at the spec they were stated to be in. If something arrives broken(or the wrong spec) and it can be shown it was broken before the goods were sent and the correct spec, issue or damage was not stated in the ad then the seller must either take it back and refund or cover the cost to remedy the situation. Otherwise using your logic a seller can send any old sht and just tell the buyer, "Ag too bad boet, buying 2hnd is risky hey, ask Adam he'll tell you how it works" You pay less when buying secondhand not because you are taking a gamble that the seller may be a POS and send you broken stuff, rather you pay less because 1. it's been used, 2. it's not the colour you wanted and 3. it has no warranty.
  8. Those are all immaterial points. The "seller" must just fix the broken or misrepresented stuff and be on his way. I just hope that frame doesn't have any cracks other issues, all these stickers and the "seller" and his "friend" ducking and diving. I've been burnt with a dodgy frame, luckily for me the seller was above board and arranged for a replacement rear triangle, it was a royal pita because the new triangle took months to arrive but he still stood by his sale and it was eventually sorted.
  9. Rikus, are going to make things right? The guy doesn't seem unreasonable, the crank and FD seem indisputable and it would seem decent to at least go half on the RD.
  10. Why is Rikus selling these things for "friends"? Does Rikus have lots of "friends"? [emoji848] That always goes wrong when issues crop up because the seller just passes the buck, pulls the not my bike bs. The rule on many forums is if you sell something you take take full responsibility for that sale. Something that Admin should probably institute in thehub classifieds.
  11. What are the undisputed problems? Front derailleur was cracked and crank the wrong length?
  12. Is AdamA the sellers best buddy?
  13. I'd do a lot of things but buying a R60k 2hnd bike sight unseen relying solely on the integrity of the seller in terms of the condition is not one of them.
  14. I'm assuming it was shot handheld? If not the pic would have been a lot sharper if both the binocs and phone were mounted on a tripod to control shake, surprising how well it came out anyhow!
  15. Shizen! The rolling resistance an those tyres must be epic?
  16. Analogue will use a normal headphone jack or similar.
  17. If the mic input is analogue then any compatible mic will work no matter the cost thereof.
  18. That is especially sucky, it's not just peeling in isolated spots, it's over the whole lens. The coating has failed due to a gross lack of durability, I exact R50 fong kong glasses to do that. Sunglass lenses should only die from scratches and that's it.
  19. That's what pee's me off about Oakleys, you pay a fortune and can look after them religiously and then the coatings will flake off, so sad to bad..
  20. They have been targeting wanted ads at virtually every forum and Facebook marketplace classifieds group I'm on. Lots of people have been hit some for some pretty significant amounts. I've been tried about 4 or 5 times over the last year, all responding to a wanted ad I'd posted.
  21. Addictive personalities don't do well on social media platforms. It's not difficult to keep them in check, the way I get around it is to switch off every notification setting possible, that largely neutralizes them. From then on I only use them when needed, they are handy, especially for groups and the marketplace.
  22. Some of the people rifling through the guys stuff seem to be passerbys who are taking advantage of the situation. And then they saunter on their way leaving him unconscious in the road. Guttersnipes of the lowest level.
  23. They've done tests on cheapie sunglasses vs all the traditional brands and in terms of UV protection the cheapies just about all passed. I think the technology is so mature it's not difficult or expensive to produce decent lenses any longer.
  24. What is that, an SS tensioner?
  25. The link is dead, maybe it's a private group?
