  1. The Sock Doping Mob will have my head, but... I'd like to see a shorter sock. The length of the hip and trendy socks are just too long for my taste and there is very little in terms of cool designs in a shorter length. Long(er) socks are quite warm and with summer upon us, it would be cool to have a kick-ass option or two that's shorter.
  2. Reply from Craig: "I think using the right tyres is a really good start, I used the Specialized Trigger 700x38c the workshop staff also made my bike tubeless so I could run lower pressures, I was running 4 bar. I did not find the corrugations too bad, keeping your arms bent just a little was the biggest thing I could do to help. But I must say we did not have really bad corrugation, I have had worse. Thank so much for getting in touch with us. Happy ridingCraig Boyes"
  3. Because Bike Hub Edit: Just phone Tienie Bester at Subaru Cape Town - he'll sort you out.
  4. Tell us about the plastic snake and your hours of preparation!
  5. Tracks 4 Africa using BaseCamp to plot the route.
  6. Wasn't aware of the crime. Pity, as it's a cool destination.
  7. Hazendal like dirtman said, but you can also add Zevenwacht to your list of starting points. Very safe, beautiful and will give you an alternative to Hazendal.
  8. And they're coming to Cape Town!
  9. Welcome Sting. (I've been a fan for many years and have also wanted to say that.) Weights aren't bad at all. Need to double check actual weight, but they only weigh in at at around 500g more than a similar spec Merida. That's not bad at all. (PS. You seem to have lost your touch over the last decade or so. It would be great if you could go back to Ten Summoner's / Mercury Falling days...or even better Outlandos d'Amour)
  10. May I be an outside wise-ass and make a suggestion: Have people pay R100, heck, make that R50 and donate all of that income to a great cycling related cause. . When someone pays there's commitment. Free events will always see a massive drop-out rate.
  11. Hi and welcome to Bike Hub. Your post was in reply to a thread from 2012 so i'm guessing that ship has sailed. There are a couple of places to look and ask Classifieds HERE General discussion thread over HERE
  12. - SIDO 1 = 100mm XC Bike, Spark 940 = 120mm Trail bike - Spark has 2.35 tyres vs 2.1 - Spark has dropper - Spark comes with Fox 34 - Full XT vs SLX / XT mix - Sido comes with Crest rims that have a 86kg weight limit We get it, you're a Silverback fan and rightly so as they too make great bikes. But surely not EVERYONE else can be making worse bikes than them?
  13. Thing is with the routing as is you will need a bit of slack as it would need that extra length when at full travel. Some brands recommend ±25mm around the BB. Not a huge issue, or issue at all really. Just doesn't sit well with my OCD

  15. The Pyga Stage Max is the bigger brother of the Stage marathon/ cross-country bike. With the Stage already adding some spice to the race bike category, we were keen to put the Stage Max to the test to see what it has up its sleeve. Click here to view the article
  16. Will check on the RR tyre comments as well. If that issue has been addressed as well with the stock spec, then they've really hit the ball out of the park on this one.
  17. Cannondale SA have confirmed that the bike will be shipping with a 11-46 cassette and not 11-42 like the early sample we reviewed. I have updated the review accordingly.
  18. Cannondale have been brave with the new Scalpel-Si. While many manufacturers remain committed to the traditional cross-country / marathon bike formula, Cannondale have clearly taken a page from the progressive geometry book, packaging it into a serious race bike. We can only hope that this translates to fewer queues and more smiles on the single track at our local marathon events. Click here to view the article
  19. Agreed?
  20. Shhhh! Was wondering when or if anyone will notice. Just so much easier to get around and on and off the bike with camera gear at night.
  21. No comments in 2 months? Phew Here's one to enjoy
