  1. You see, you'll never find the bike in a budget X that has all right components Y. Somehow we are obsessed with owning the latest gear spec, even the average rider wouldn't really notice a difference between a 2012 SRAM x7 or a 2013 XT. All bikes in your price range would have won world champs 7 years ago, so of it is fitness and fun you're after they all serve you well - get out, make a choice and enjoy the ride.
  2. Stuffing up the bike? Do you carry your bike whe it gets bumpy not to "stuff up the shocks" and do you cling wrap the frame because it might get dirty? Dude, go to the fridge and get a can of HTFU - that's what all he fun is about. Now leave me alone, let me turn around and re-adjust that down duvet.
  3. Is iit me or does this seem a bit expensive... Surely this must something like 1996? Cool design though. http://capetown-westerncape.gumtree.co.za/c-Sports-Leisure-sports-bicycles-fitness-Mountain-Bike-GT-STS-2-W0QQAdIdZ413455808
  4. Yeah, and big up to PPA for the nice discount when ordering the ICE ID (enter "PPA" into the promo code field and save 50 bucks). Am waiting for mine!

    2012 94.7

damn, that's not going to work then... :-) maybe if I don't breath in my body won't notice the altitude..
  6. Amen. I wish we had more teenagers with your head screwed on the right way! U see way too many kids riding 15k bikes to school...

    2012 94.7

anyone flying up from CPT? it is my first 94.7 - and am only landing on Saturday morning... should be fun. Am nervous re the route. If I did a 3:30 Argus this year, what time should I aim for at the 94.7?
  8. Yeah, 100% tool head. :-) I think there is a thread here for stories about moments like these. Can't believe it...
  9. Hey Stray, turns out it was the tire lever! there it is! :-) Thanks! I would have looked like a proper idiot if my chain actually broke....
  10. Hi, have been taking this Topeak tool on a few rides and only realized now: the chain tool has got an turn bolt with Allen key. None of the Allen keys come of the tool. How would I use this tool without taking another multi tool on the ride? Or am I being a tool?
  11. Is the desired effect to decrease Woolie's turnover, therefore make them less profitable, and have to close shops, i.e. send their staff, both black and white (and all other 50 shades of brown) into unemployment? Sounds thought through... I believe the urge for Malva pudding and fresh veggies will get this boycott down very quickly...
  12. “I will never shop at Woolies again, until later this afternoon when I will go and get salmon and malva pudding,” hahaha http://www.hayibo.com/whites-to-boycott-woolies-until-their-craving-for-salmon-becomes-too-strong/
  13. Yeah, we can't even get a Woolies boycott organized, saw lots of whiteys at the till last night, when I bought my pasta, and paid the white cashier. Honestly, calling a boycott over this is the most stupid thing I have ever seen - every large company in this country is forced to have a BEE policy in place. Yet we decide to pick Woolworths? While all other supermarkets, car manufacturers, banks, insurers etc all have the very same policy in place... get real.
  14. make sure you don't immigrate into countries where this kind of scenario would be perfectly acceptable. Sadly I know various European capitals where parents do an equally shoddy job of parenting on a regular basis.
  15. 110kph speed limit. I just looked at my car - last 1453 kms I averaged 44.3 kps - i.e. I'd be fairl unaffected. If it saves a life, I am all for it. If it can be policed, same as the 1.5m distance to cyclists, remains another question.
  16. cool, will give it try and see if I notice the difference... :-)
  17. No, I don't like scratches on bars and bar end. have upgraded to a carpet along the wall, where there is contact. thanks for pointing it out!
  18. Last race I entered there was a pic of a lady riding in the sunshine on the flyer. I drove there and it was pi55ing with rain, and the lady wasn't there either. So irritated. I got up for nothing. Does anybody else agree that we deserve what's advertised? I think it is going to be my last race - it was also way too expensive.
  19. Damn it - pvr stopped just before Minaars run - was looking forward to seeing that tonight :-(
  20. I stared at mine trying to figure it out. Unsuccessful. I wish they had put a non-Hungarian manual with mine...
  21. Cool queuing system - having lunch and entering the Argus at the same time, well done. Tell Computicket about your system...
  22. Not sure if a 90kg rider will feel a 115g weight difference in his wheels. I usually go to the toilet before a ride and make sure I lose between 300 and 500gr without any costs.
  23. they do...
  24. give me a shout and you can borrow mine to try out - he'll love it!
