  1. The crank set is a weird choice for sure. You don't want to have to swap out something straight away when you buy a new bike because it is a bit average. I'm really keen to know how this rides on a day to day basis. The Scott Foil has suffered badly from being as stiff as Ron Jeremy in a Viagra factory and as a result all but shakes the fillings from your teeth on anything but the smoothest of surfaces. Got my eye one of these for later in the year despite JOC advising to go the TCR route.
  2. Cape Town... Cape Town.... CAAAAPPPEEEE TOWN!!!!! It's not like most of Jozi aren't heading down this way at the moment.
  3. I'm still running these classics. I was looking to upgrade but these work great for trail and just refuse to die. Great if you put a foot down and benefit is you can cruise to the shops in flip flops without a worry! http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb4331133/p4pb4331133.jpg
  4. Just got some new daps for my impending daily commute across Table Mtn from the Southern 'burbs! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QsQZbetxwDE/UBmDJ4kgy_I/AAAAAAAAC9c/qJCDAZwvczg/s1600/giro+gauge+1.jpg
  5. Always a shame when one of the good ones pull stumps. Good rider and always super humble and nice when you meet him. Always in the shop when ever I'm in Plett and whether it's pulling my rear hub apart or just having a banter he's always seems to treat people with respect and actual interest. Good luck with everything moving forward.
  6. no, no... this is the latest innovation. The last innovation was 650b (or was it Fat bikes? or 29'rs? or selling you less gears for more money?) and this is an all new innovation that has a "+" which simply means "these revolutionary new hardtails and tires will change the way we ride". Again. Not sure what I'd do without the cycling industry telling me what I'm riding is pretty *** a couple of times a year.
  7. Hectic fitness angle. Make me feel very bad for not doing anything other than riding my bike(s) and a bit of surfing. Great to see CT getting some feature @ 2:47.
  8. Nice touch, I'll stop bombarding them with emails, tweets and FB posts about this then! Nice to see that there is some legacy and responsibility being taken on board for a profitable business. It's a nice gesture, esp with the increased traffic from Tokai, which wasn't anything to do with them. That said the lower single track they mention was torn apart from about 2/3rds into the Prologue esp with all the practicing in the days before. That PP top track is going to be hard to keep closed. I was up there the other day and there were guys in tackies and polly shorts walking their bike shown and looking a bit shocked. You could see a long line of people following the ACE route and queueing to come down. Just a question though. When is maintenance planned and can we ride at the moment? Was actually about to head up as I've had a very ordinary day so far!
  9. Ahhhhhh hahahahaha. Right take my bike, sell my kit, medicate me and put me if front of a load of bad pommy sit coms until my time comes. Really?!? I hated watching that more than his other stuff. He was on a dual sus' and you can relate to that. Just when you thought it was pretty average. Boom crazy hit, he just made your last ride (that you thought was all strava killing-video section-balls-out-rad) look like the freewheeling of a slightly incontinent, pajama wearing, octoganerian.
  10. That's what the chair lifts are for in summer. I used to board a lot at Ohau on the South Island and the angle of that place always made you feel a little odd once you'd hiked above the ridge. kinda like you were about to topple off. This is the shot from the chair lift about 50% up. http://www.snow-forecast.com/system/images/3149/large/Ohau.jpg?1260439028
  11. it's not just fush 'n chups. http://www.transitionbikes.com/BlogImages/NZ4.JPG

    Cricket......

That was a nice result hey?
  13. Oh, so not actually cyclocross then. Errrr... okay.
  14. Come on, head down to CT. Spend a week and pick off some of the WC coin and head back richer and happier! We'll even throw in a mountain and some ocean.
  15. Has anyone found any decent ISP deals recently? ditching Helkom this month and am looking at Openweb unshaped to support the incoming Apple TV / Netflicks & torrent Package I was looking over was a 300gig unshaped (100 peak and 200 after hours) on a 10mb line. Have had a bit of a look about at the usual suspects but wondering if anyone has heard of any good deals.
  16. For sure... I wasn't asking what I should run it at I was just interested in what people were running theirs at. I know gauges differ but things will enevitably fall in to a reasonably near measurement else there wouldn't be gauges in the cycling world and sheets of calculations for shocks, tyres let alone car tyres that need gauges. I've got mine dialled in nicely but it's always interesting to see what other people run from the nearly flat to the rock hard. It's the thing that make so much difference to how your bike rides so was just seeing who did what.
  17. Just a thought... who is running what pressure on their Bronson / Wolverine combo?
  18. I don't know why people are so surprised. My MTB only mates are always telling me what a piece of p*ss road riding is and how much fitter, better looking, funnier and generally more talented mountain bikers are...
  19. Etixxs are killing this season so far. Yup I know it's only the beginning of the year and they are a northern classics super squad but so far they are a steam train. Edit: truthfully I think Tyler Farrar more often than not dashes Tyler Farrar's chances. Sorry to say I didn't think he was the smartest signing for MTN-Q at the time.
  20. I've got the same rims but on std Spike hubs. Have been waiting for a rear convertor axle from Spank for months. They get sent, they disappear into the black hole of SAPO. Report back on how they go. You running an XKing up front? I think I"m going to throw in a Magic Mary and a Rock Razor (or new NN) to replace the Bronson / wolverine combo I've been running.
  21. What he said...
  22. True dat! R650 odd at Easy bike seems like a good deal. Not as good as the R199 they were selling off the NN at my LBS when they decided 26 was the cycling equivalent of the plague... For that price I'm going to give them a tonk. If they give up faster than a pommy fan at a cricket match then I'll have to toss up cost / time vs grippy crack habit.
  23. Always had a soft spot for Kona. Shame they can't seem to get their house in order in SA. Should be a great brand here with decent bikes across the range and some real ripping gems in the line up. Had a few and aways missed them in the N+1 stable once I'd moved onto something else. Still want a King Zing Deluxe for the road. Just looked great.
  24. Not requoting your whole awesome reply. Good review, nice insight. On the list now. Legend.
