Gators !!!! Tha Conti Force / Attack tyres toooooo soft for SA roads

This hill is called - Hillsnacks . . . Good for invervals But Sterkfontein hill is tha . . . bomb ! But go past Oak Tree stright up to Robert broom ( Most probably 5-6 km)

I have a pair of Evil Eye half rim pro's , Project Genetyk and Bones . . . I prefer the Evil eye half rims for racing ! (Maybe its because tha wife bought them for me . . . ) (my 2 cents worth )

Started in A With the group yo-yo-ing at the back 5-6 km in , I almost caused a crash.(Did not look at the wheel infront of me) Sorry to all the okes around me ! it was my mistake and very happy on one came down ! Look at pic attached - Cant belief this tyre lasted the whole race. At 40-45km there was a crash in the dip and found myself at the back of that fighitng a loosing battle getting back to group. a VO rider . . . had some problems . . . he came past and I grabbed on but when his team vehicle came to assist him - I could not stay with him) Well done getting back . . . . I think . . . Stayed with 2 pirates kit okes and blue first accent oke rotating nicely untill a smallish group started to form and stayed to the end. 2h39 and very happy I did not go down in that first stretch. Once again sorry for the okes around me when I decided to "test" my sliding skills

Started in AL . . . 3 or 4 okes went down before we even started and I had to fight up hillsnacks only not the get to the front bunch down the other side. It was a lekker fast downhill at sterkfontein . I went through a bump and seat post slided down in frame. we formed a small chase group and we/they worked well toghther. ( I went to the front a few times to do my part but almost sitting on the ground some VO riders said its fine if I stay at the back) I sat at the back up to 54 km where I atlast got some assistance and got my seat sorted.Had a good rest up to that stage sitting at the back. We fixed the seat in record time only to see the small bunch 500m up the road. I got my head down and by the time we turned at Maropeng the gap was 150 odd meters. I just couldn't catch them . . . I finnaly cought up to this group when they joined a group of VC riders at +- 75km in the cradle. By this time I was hanging on for everything I'm worth. I managed to stay with this smallish group to the finish and managed a 2h45. All and all pleaed with the result. Average heart rate was an amazing 94% (usually 86%) My knees and lower back is "broken" today. Thank you to the okes in the small bunch giving me the okay to sit at the back Thank you to the Ladies in the H1 van assisting me to get my seat sorted (yes Ladies came to my resque) Thank you to the Volvo V60 and Rosendal truck on downhill towards sterkfontein road.

Started with AL and finished with AL main group . . . (I think) Had a good fast race. Very Happy with my avg speed at 40,5km/h and time of 2h52 and a few seconds Thank you to everyone involved ! ( I like this race! )

Trained for 12-16 weeks before Argus 2011 - Weather perfect . . . Started in E and ready for a sub 3 . . . stayed with group , pulled a bit and worked nicely with the group. Got puncture down Lundatno . . . Fixed and finished . . . 3h14

I had a great race without incidents in the 3rd A group on the road after A bunch started breaking up at+-35km Our group had a few close calls when the 50km route joined. The jack-knifed truck at the end caused some stress but managed to go around safely. Great race and glad we had the overcast conditions. Managed a 2h38 – happy with this result ! PS – I didn’t get a led light ? But a safe race is good enough for me !
