  3. WOW - That road was busy with cyclists and mtbers yesterday. I was also on that stretch with 3 other mtbers. R114 Muldersdrift is there at Avianto ? At what time did this happen ? Glad you are okay!
  4. RIP
  5. I'm also available to pick up my new wheels . . .
  6. Check your e-mail !
  7. and do not forget the sunscreen . . . The 94,7 was my first big race 4 years ago. Did not train alot (weekends only) and longest distance were 63km round the cradle the week before the race. I started in QQ - The first few okes formed a group (20 odd) and I joined in ( Brave as hell . . . ) After 60km I was done and limped home - 3h36 but ended up in the first aid tent with a drip . . . Lesson learned. Pace yourself , have fun and if there is anything left after N14 / Diepsloot go for it! my 2 cents worth . . .
  8. No , Scott CR1 - Green Little Stars kit with rainbow colors
  9. What a race . . . did the 97km , stayed with AM until hekpoort pass where a few guys "broke away" or maybe I just struggled on. On satellite road (Left turn to sat station) a nice group formed (12 or so)and managed to stay and work with them until the end where a taxi almost run us over (last 2 km stretch) Picked up alot of cyclists on our way back . . . Hope the 2 okes that crashed at the right turn 11.5 km into the race are okay. I was behind the oke with the white kit. The oke on the left dodged a cone and crashed into the other. Fell on his head(helmet) hope they are okay. The MTN Qubeka rider who lost both his bottles a few km into the race. RESPECT ! and thank you for helping me up hekpoort and helping our group keeping pace the last 30km . The oke with the mtb , well done staying with us roadies. I haven't seen your fast cadence for a while . . . sure I saw smoke coming from your crank . . . Managed a 2h33 and finished with a oke called Carlos ! (thanks for your motivation up that last hill) Very happy with this time
  10. AM 4 me !
  11. Any news ?
  12. lets clarify what i mean . . . Go back next year to change experience from a negative to a positive
  13. I feel for you and also proud. Well done for finishing the race after a nightmare weekend. You were one of the lucky ones that had help with the sliced tyre. I had 2 punctures and then snapped spokes = DNF and very disappointed(as mentioned in previous post). I can not compare my disappointment (Lions get run over by sharks and then not finishing the race) with yours but suggest that your do the Amashova again next year just to change the experience you had from a negitive to a posetive. PS - rather fly or drive down and if possible make a long weekend (With the family) Well done to the local bike shops assisting with spares and parts. They worked hard on sunday with all the problems all over. and wel done to the boks . . .I mean sharks.

  17. Good race Got stuck at the back of AL on the dirt section thus huge gap formed. Slowly but sure got back to the bunch as they left turn for uphill just to loose the bunch again. Lost a water bottle on those bumps Got a group going of approx 14 riders - I asked to work together , which we did for a good stint. Some okes got tired and the rhythm struggled to SBos where we broke into pieces and the Elite ladies came past. I stayed with elite ladies till top of SBos where I needed water. (There was more wind on the climb than last year - Especially the last km to the top) On the downhill went through a bump and a spoke broke. (With a super wobble on the buck wheel) did approx 15km TT when some of the other ladies and a smallish group came past. I could hang on tho this group till the we hit the dirt section where my poor wheel got an even worse wobble. "wobbled" slowely home . . . Good fun - no real incidents / crashes / Did not see anybody litter / not alot of traffic - Thanks
  18. Amen !
  19. Starting at 6h23 in AL (sweet , nice and early) Note: Organizers send out an e-mail stating you are doing the 72km route. System error and soon you will receive your updated e-mail for 101km I spoke with Daleen earlier. Who else will be at the back of AL hanging on ? O, ja what timing company will be used ?
