Thanks Nick, do you maybe know the weights of these 3 rims?

@nick_the_wheelbuilder can you please assist. I used 25mm 28 hole Rapide rims for more than a year with lots of distance on them. My rear wheel pulled a spoke through the rim over the weekend, rim cracked. The rider limit on them is stated at 90kg and I'm a bit over at 96kg. Until this failure I was very happy with these rims but now that I need to replace I was wondering if I should replace with the same or rather go for Race Face ARC offset at double the price. I am in the process of loosing weight and the Rapide rims are excellent value for money. So, please recommend, should I stay on the Rapide rims or rather go with the Race Face?

I'm happy to ride my bike with 12sp GX AXS on a Microspline free-body for many years to come. BUT I'm not going to say no thank you if a nice frame with UDH comes across my path .... 😊

Yip, unfortunately that's how I also understood it .... . If you want the fancy new DR, you need UDH, your (my) 2013 old model is not going to make the cut. To get UDH = New frame and/or bike ... 😪

That will be a challenge, but we can only hope ....

I did not have any hits yet on my GX AXS, but I agree, it just works and shift perfectly every single time. Also, the battery life is amazing, cant phantom how such tiny battery can last so long. I have a spare battery in my tool bag but didn't even come close to using it yet. Its very reassuring that it can take a hit like that and still be 100%.

Yes, I love dates, make my own date squares for riding, work 100% for me.

Try Wayne from Rapidé, he is excellent with wheel building but dont know if his skills extend to "panel beating", but maybe give it a shot.

Clearly peoples base reference differ vastly. I done many marathons and "ultras" in the past, for me an ultra is anything between 42.2 and 89km. Anything further than that I call "NUTS" ..... 🤪. These days even a std. marathon is completely out of the question for me .... 😒.

I'm sure you can extend that by using a HR strap and lower the screen brightness. 99.9% of people will never do 40 hours continues and a 100 miler on a bike should be no problem at all, unless you ride like a snail .... 🤪. Running a 100 miler, 99.99999% of people will never do, but I think it should cope with that IF you use the precautions I mentioned.

I'm very happy with my Polar Grit X Pro. The only thing on your list it doesn't do is ANT+, Bluetooth only which is fine by me. The Vantage V2 got the same functionality just more "fancy" looking and not as "rugged". Battery last about a week on a charge with at least 3 trainings of an hour or so using a HR strap. For my weekend rides I dont use the watch but Polar V650. Polar focused very much on heart rate and running watches in the past but the latest watches cater for all sorts of sport.

Vodacom also an issue in certain areas.

With a carbon frame, magnet set works like a charm.

I will never get why people do this, especially non professionals, you only BS yourself. Professionals do it for the prestige & money, still not justified however.

Writing on the outside yes, but upside down, I dont think that's going to make any difference since the chain is pretty much symmetric (no flat top anyway), however, I will in future check for this, didn't know it was a thing until now ... 😊.

A little off topic, but this is the same issue I have with Woolworths, their prices are normally high and when stuff goes on special its more or less in line with the other stores, and yet the wife think its a moerse bargain .... 🙈
