  1. It is the chinese carbon ouens giving him flak.

  3. You walked in to what would seem to be a reputable LBS. Shhiiit you been going there for 5 years. No one can blame you for trusting them. If you want to throw that fake Pina away, my dumpster is empty. Though a 54cm is the ideal size for my dumpster. At least you can say you have the most expensive chinarello, no hubber can take that from you. JK Good Luck, hope you take the LBS to the cleaners. The hub is definitely a good place to start.
  4. My wives can't read and sleep in the garage. Shiit that reminds me, the ones wheel needs truing.
  5. 100% with you. The finish on the comp to the s-works models are top notch. I prefer spez cable routing on their mtb's, simple, clean and effective. I always assemble my own bikes so I notice the small finer details. Specialized suspension incorporates cone shape washers that fit on either side of the bearings, this prevents pressure on the bearings when the bolt is fastened. So there is only pressure on the inside ring of the bearing and the bearing can run smooth and free of any pressure. Would I notice this when I am out riding, maybe not but at least spez thought to do it. All the other brands that I have owned and own are and was not as meticulous. The paint on my stumpy works is freaken amazing. Not only does the paint look amazing but it stands up well to trail abuse. Hats off to the peeps at spez that decide the art for the bikes. Just fantastic bikes all round. I love all my bikes but I love my spez the most.
  6. Tools, google, youtube.
  7. I personally tried a few different brands in search of something to rid me of my spez fetish. But guess what, turns out it is not a fetish after all (ok maybe a little). After trying (owning) commencal meta 5.5 (still own) and 4, merida ninety six and One Twenty, giant anthem adv (still own), trance and ibis mojo I found that when it comes to fit and ride quality I prefer then spez does it for me. My mate is riding a ibis mojo after coming off a spez and he loves the Mojo and is even planning on getting the HD 650B next. I am still on a 26er and was tad worried what brand I would buy into next because spez was not going to do 650B. There goes that worry. So even though there are other brands that are doing 650B that are immediately available, some of us would much rather skip the trial and error bit and invest our hard earned cash in a bike that we know will work for us. Simple as that.
  8. Cool, I was beginning to worry.
  9. It has nothing to do with the rider and you know it!
  10. Or put me on any bike and I will get k@k results. And that is why I am still on a 26er.
  11. Are u ever ready for the epic? If my memory serves me, 2012 stage 5 a pro male or female dropped out because of hypothermia. And amature riders managed to finish. So are you ever ready?
  12. Some have a crappy start and get stronger during and closer to the end. And there are also those who are awesome at the start and start to fizzle toward the end of the epic. Seen this happen to other amateur teams as well as myself and partner. There are many things that can go wrong for you on the the day, from nutrition to mechanical. Luckily when I was shait my partner was on form and vice versa. Great leaning experience for any amateur cyclist. It is a tough race. A friend of mine, very good rider dropped out on stage one from dehydration. I remember coming to the peak of the last climb and seeing him just laying there. His partner had left him to finish, I wanted to stay with him till help came but I had to ride off with my partner as we were cutting it close. It was very emotional and I remember tearing up a bit. To think that was the end of his epic. He came to the starting chute the to cheer us on the next morning. You could see his disappointment. For the pro's its a hard race, for those the tail enders it is a battle like no other. They are fighting giving up! Then after a 10 hour ride they have very little time to prep for the next day. everything is a rush. Early morning and back on the bike with sore ass and and another long day ahead. Good luck tail enders, be strong!
  13. Lets just say that a 100k bike is not primarily aimed at someone that will cringe at the thought of losing 30-40k.
  14. That is the HT frame I long for!
  15. OK after some googling. The camber is somewhere between an Epic and Stumpjumper.
  16. Isn't the camber like a budget stumpy or has less travel. I could be wrong.
  17. So sad that only one word comes to mind, "TYPICAL".
  18. How did this work out for you? I am at the crossroads again.
  19. You all know deep down that specialized bikes are the best.
