  1. Howdy, I am 176 tall and ride a SLC 53 cm, 100mm zero degree stem with no spacers. Best fit ever.
  2. Hi, I use a MT7 lensor mounted on a bike bracket on my road bike. I use rechargeable AAA's and get a good 2 hours. I have 2 sets of AAA’s on eon the bike and the other on the charger. Well worth the price of the torch and the batteries. When the cold comes into KZN, I have a torch in my car and a bike on the stationery trainer- who said guys cannot multitask!! If for mtn bike use, perhaps try 2 torches. I would not go for the headlight/helmet light from lensor as this has less batteries leading to less light.

XTR seems to top the list, has anybody tried the easton EA90's ???

    Wheelset

Hi, I am looking to upgrade my marathon wheel set. I ask for your opinions and experiences on the following options: Shimano XTR Mavic SLR Easton EA90
  5. No debate in terms of a race machine, after riding 4 F/Sus bikes over recent years and many km on my 96 carbon - MERIDA WINS
  6. Make sure the tooth count matches. Use the B tension to set the gap between the cassette and upper derailleur wheel. My opinion- original is best especially with derailleur wheels as Shimano have a ceramic bearing in the upper wheel for a reason. The ceramic bearing allows play, without this play your chain will ghost shift as the terrain been ridden changes.
  7. One sentence for our speedster- castration
  8. Your data is not to sad. Applying an average of 25km per hour (as you did not mention mtb or road), this all equates to 8175km for the year. Personally, both hours and distance are important as sitting in a bunch on the road for 2 hours does not equate equally to a 2 hour mtb haul.
  9. Earlier this year I placed 2 separate orders- 1) In March I paid a total of 16% upon collection at the post office 2) In August I paid a total of 32% upon collection at the post office Pot luck seems to be the order of the day. Anyway on both occasions I purchased Sidi shoes and still paid (in total) less than or equal to the local stores cost price. I placed another order last week (24 Dec) midday, the goods have been dispatched Now I wait
  10. All dependent on your body weight, manufacturer of the shock and the frame design. Please post more info...
  11. If you can afford the toy you can afford the service. Cars of today are designed to run until the maintenance plan ends. BMW's at 100 000 need brakes and a few other costly items. Key words - Maintenance plan.
  12. My race face BB lasted 4 months, then it exploded. The rings were new so I could not warrant a change to shimano. I purchased a race face signature edition BB for a grand and rode the crank set for a few more km's. I now ride shimano with no quality issues at all. I was not at all impressed with race face quality nor will I purchase any race face drive train components again.
  13. Take down my number plate details and report me to your local ward councilor.
  14. The water points are generally sponsored stands, at no or little cost to the event organizers. In terms of goodie bags, no expectation. If I don’t get a goodie bag- I simply have less to give my domestic. I must draw the line at a registration in a basement accompanied an pathetic excuse for an expo. Did I see a yoyo stand?!?!?
  15. I have had this twice in 14 000 km on my Ultegra groupset. Part of your service must be to check the torque on the cassette. When this happens, enjoy the walk home or call a friend. Do you ride the bike on a trainer at all? From your post I would guess the shop or factory failed to assemble to specification.
  16. No, I have never had such a failure.
  17. When you stack the bike on a series of rock, the R 5000 will be cash waisted. Anyway, I love my carbon FS.
  18. Customs have a dart board on the wall to decide the tax to levy. Bought 2 pairs of Sidi shoes this year. Order 1 attracted 16% (incl vat and customs) Order 2 attracted 32% (incl vat and customs). Anyway I saved R 1000 to R 1500 over the SA dealer DISCOUNTED price.
  19. Hi, Looking for partner both road and dirt in Hilton Pietermaritzburg. Sub 3 hour Amashova and Argus.....
