  1. It depends what you mean, Gen. #gochris
  2. After that post I think 'Turncoat, class of Vino, door...' is more apt, sir. And Mr Vinokourov was know for being an upstanding servant of fair play...
  3. The only thing I regret about my journey is the chest wax.
  4. I dropped at as a CA after 13/14 years of grind. The ego is a fragile thing and I knew I wanted to go in another direction but hesitated to leap. Now, I should have leapt much sooner and not been afraid. It will work out - it is amazing how a bit of focus clears your head and streamlines the bumf we add to our daily lives. Go ride your bike and be free. Do NOT think of anything except yourself (and your family) for a few weeks/months after you leave. Relax - from 13 to now, you have earned it.
  5. Sadly, no, I was riding with my mate and showing him the ropes. When I am alone this week I will take more. and honestly after being on the road since I have been here it was just fun to do something that reminded me of Paul Cluver, even if the bridges are zig zags and I almost fell off! ???? ???? Here is one from the other day though... Gorgeous roads almost unused. For the people of the flatlands aka the anti-gravity brigade, the Spartacuses of our sport...
  6. To the 'Big Swamp' which isn't that big. But riding on the bridges is quite fun.
  7. Nominative determinism at it's finest... https://www.google.co.za/amp/amp.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/apr/29/randy-boehning-anti-gay-republican-lawmaker-comes-/
  8. Went up (or down, actually, over here) the West Coast. The world's longest jetty in a town called Busselton
  9. That's why it's important to shout 'Fore' when you see a well-decked out guy pushing down an incline. He has lost his balls.
  10. Don't be sarcastic, Van. Oxycontin and horse tranquilisers got me through a full 18 holes.
  11. Ag, man, it's like using tranquilisers in golf.
  12. I think you are still missing the point of this entire thread that 'race' and 'ebike' in the same context is invalid. They are two entirely different sports. Sure, maybe on the same day on similar trails but the people who ride ebikes for the 'right' reasons (eg disabilities, or just riding with the family) are not going to be the ones technically proficient enough to handle a beast on single track or steep downhills and will not need to pass. And the ones that are technically proficient are the ones who will get involved in the actual racing and be the knobs we all don't want to have a thread about.
  13. Exactly, why do we need insults? Those who want to chill: ride the event at your leisure but stay out of the way of those who would like to race. You are most welcome on any ride, and if anyone says otherwise they are a fool. On one, selfish level. If you really want to race an eBike, or be a Strava king, against normal bikes you are also a fool. Truly. On many levels. But they can, and will, coexist. Like Fat bikes. Hopefully. (Yes, I am biased towards self-propulsion.)
  14. Ag, just being randomly stereotypical about the Irish not being too bright. Useless jetlag humour, I'm afraid.
  15. In Ireland do they keep their backs to the mirror?
  16. better than CigarettePatch. That would really stop you if you were smokin' them all.
  17. I think it's perfectly fine, Patch. Very different to eBikes. I think you should go for it.
  18. To be fair, someone who can afford a 9kg machine is not really competing against a guy on a 14kg beast, especially if that race is a 14 and under, 45kg division, so it's not that black and white even if we just look at pedal-power only. But yes, I agree with you - a sport should be an equal playing field, and while a weight issue or a component vs component advantage may 'influence' a result, a direct enhancement of human output by ebike makes it a different sport. #inmyopinion
  19. The turning circle of one those would appear to be like an SR-71 at full chat. You'd start turning in Wynberg and hit Newlands still at a 30 degree angle.
  20. Slightly concerned... Those soundtracks when Clint wanders across a barren plain are very similar to other movies where bowwowchickachicka accompanies other roving wanderers who accidentally come upon a lady in need. And early on a Saturday morning this could result in very mixed messages?
  21. Because Terence Hill and Bud Spencer movies can't be counted!!
  22. Thought I would leave this here. I find the reviewer and I have very similar tastes and if you have watched a lot of these you can't go wrong. Also, his reviews themselves are very good. http://www.reelviews.net/specials/james-berardinelli-s-all-time-top-100
  23. 'no such thing as a fish' is good. I enjoy that
  24. Me too. He did Prisoners, Arrival, Sicario. First two were 2 of the best films of the last 4/5 years in terms of adult/serious movies, so I have hope
  25. Denis Villeneuve, you mean? Which stinkers? I think Ridley is just producing
