  1. Missus and I are entered and paid...........now to work on some sort of a plan to make sure we are ready
  2. At a 54.271km/h average (according to the Bicycling web site tracker) I think he might be pretty much in a class of his own
  3. And..........if you like Santa Cruz don't forget the Heckler which is a cheaper version of the Bronson above
  4. Keep posting any updates - can't access the live tracker site from work Thanks
  5. Good call - he loves the hills. Reckon Charles is in good form as well?

Bit of research - official rerouting, so no disqualification but he cannot take the record (and he was well ahead of it as well)

    Tour Divide

It is riveting - I spend way too much time on the tracker looking at what is going. Alex was looking at a podium in the future and looks like he could get it this year - he is in a almighty battle with James Olsen for 3rd though. He rides later in night and get ahead and then James starts earlier and catches him. Mike Hall (chap who broke the Round the World record) is way ahead (up to a few days ago he was averaging over 200 miles a day ....off road!!!!!) but he did go off course this morning/last night so not sure what the implication of that is in terms of the rules. There was some mention of forest closures due to fires so perhaps he was instructed to make the detour
  8. Been on SRAM for near on last 6 years with no problems. Had a bike with Shimano and also had no problems - go figure
  9. No camelback - stuff it all in my baggie pockets. All being a couple of bombs, adaptor, plugs, plug tool and multi tool
  10. Where can we get these? I have a MJ880? (the 2000 lumen light) and the battery has also died and would love to get a properly made one instead of just buying the same battery (which are available).
  11. Am I stupid because I don't find any results for this Sunday on the link?
  12. The purple croc's have got me pissing myself
  13. I have a seatpost stuck in my steel frame - would the coke work here as well?
  14. Let me piggy back on this as well!! Ordered the Sunday evening late and got by Tuesday morning despite having made a mess of the shipping instruction. Hannes knew I needed the light urgently so shipped it overnight and sorted the payment out afterwards - great, great service. Now for the light - got myself the "big daddy" Pyro 2000 (MJ 880). What a pleasure! I ride in the dark every night and the light works like a dream - great throw and a really wide beam that covers the whole road so I can see when the rabbits are going to run in front of me! It is so bright that I have, until now, not had to use anything other than the 2nd/3rd setting.
  15. First two Ironman triathlons were held in Gordon's Bay - no incidents as far as I can remember and nothing looks more like a seal than a swimmer in a wetsuit
  16. Can we still join ............. or is it too late? If yes, could someone confirm start (06:00) and place (Hazeldean - park on the right) Thanks
  17. If I was a pro rider, but say only 3rd best, I would get some buddies together and just say we saw No 1 an 2 taking EPO. Bada boom I'm Number 1 (unless of course someone else susses that move out and does the same to me)
  18. Sorry.......they do make a sliding dropout though (if that vindicates me at all)?
