L for the bikes left, R for the bikes right - which makes no diffs if your hovering around the front end looking back Left side tighten to the front end (anti clockwise thread) , right side tighten to the front end (normal clockwise thread). It doesn't matter if you use a pedal spanner (on the outside of crank arm) or Allen key (inside of crank arm), the rotation to loosen or tighten is always the same orientation - tighten towards the front, loosen toward the rear. Pedals of course...

They should be stamped with an L and R for orientation... And tighten towards the front, loosen towards the rear for best results 😉

Make sure you have adequet insurance cover in the event of a break in and your customers bikes get nicked. Perhaps cover this detail on the form that they fill in when they drop their bike off for some work And encourage the bike owner to be there when you service his/her bike And have a good clean work station and tool set And have a good bean to coffee machine And keep your pricing honest And dont give family or friends freebies - they must pay like everyone else And lastly, you're the owner so be present in your own shop. Be proud. Get your hands dirty, wash the bikes, get trained, interact with the customer on whatever level it is - even if it is making them a coffee while the trained mechanics handle the bike I travel 40km to my LBS. Dont use the dishwasher - unless you want it to pit with corrosion and fail. A high pH is a bugger on aluminium parts Just wash it with warm water and a bit of soap as you suggest. Then rinse it afterwards with clean water and dry it. Adding q20 or any other kind of lube will only retain the dirt that gets in there. Rather keep it dry from anything as its not a part used on moving items but rather through moving items. The fun police are now out of here 👮‍♂️ 🚓
