  1. I'm not sure if they are standard Trashy, wouldn't even know what a standard size is...
  2. Thanks DiD, I'm looking for alternatives, not necessarily BMG
  3. Yep, the same shop quoted R4200 for the bearing kit for the suspension arm
  4. Ok thanks, does any one then know what the headset sizes are for the Top fuel so we can source alternatives? Sorry, a bit of a mad day so my search skills are a tad deficient at the moment
  5. Speaking of bearings.... A friend of mine has been quoted R1400 for OEM headset bearings by a dealer shop for a Trek Top Fuel ex 8 frame. Is that right? Or has he fallen into the BS of "its special"? Anyone in the know?
  6. Im toying with the idea of putting a rigid on the carbon frame. I'm not a thaba rider, but I do the odd single track from time to time. Hmm.... wonder if you'll let me lose on that ride of yours to check out the fork? 🤡
  7. And single track? Not crazy stuff like Thaba but more like Rv etc
  8. @TheoG Whats that rigid fork like? And how hard do you punish it? Or is it mainly hood rides you do on the frame?
  9. Looks like one of these, although the cable routing at the head tube are slightly different https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-mountain-bike-frames/1369/carbon-29er-full-suspension-dual-frame-a
  10. Chris, here's a light for you - 5 stage settings plus strobe. 2500mah battery pack - I've hardly used it. Battery lasts about 2 hours on setting 4 or 5. Can't remember the brand but it works like a bomb. Uses the older style USB to charge it. I'll throw in the cable too Yours for the gent that needs it, mahala. Pm for collection details tomorrow or Friday 👍
  11. Thaba, easy.... Yeah ok 😂 Welcome to the big smoke at altitude
  12. Suikerbos.gpx 👍
  13. Nope. Tar. Mad. 1200m. 60km. Mad.
  14. Don't base yourself in Fourways then
  15. Ok, I'll wade in to the topic.... Why are you capetonians complaining? You should be embracing it and working with the city to get what you want. You know - give a little, take a little scenario. You're all blessed to have those kind of cycling facilities on your doorstep, yet you all complain its not close enough to the sea, or it has a set of FT's riding rental bikes, or heaven forbid - a runner pushing a pram along with his tin lid in it. Its almost as if everything done is never good enough Up here in the big smoke we have to drive somewhere to ride in relative safety. And even then, you still have a good chance of getting run down and killed by a crazy motorist at 6am in the morning. The city has the muscle power to just stamp out a rule that pisses everyone off, and working against the city will just end up in them flexing that power. Remember, they also take into consideration the amount of pedestrians, runners, cyclists, FT's on rentals etc. And they also take into consideration that everyone needs their place in the sun Be grateful you even have a cyling lane along the beach front Right, who's got the popcorn?
  16. Nice chatting to you Wayne 👍
  17. Im in Northcliff ( chip and a put away from Honeydew) and can help pack it. I'll get a box from my LBS in Jhb south then box it up for you. No cost, just pay the favour forward
  18. Had the same issue, it's the small sprockets that are worn. Change the bottom two and it'll be fine again. My theory for the issue is the chain ring is too small. Ie, it allows you to climb in the small gears, which let's you put big power down on those small sprockets. If you run a bigger chain ring, then it'll force you to climb in a higher gear. Those 2 small sprockets are for top end, not standing on the pedals to rocket climb up a long hill (which is what I do/did and killed the two small sprockets in 1500km) Good advice above to either go back to the old chain, or change the 2 gears
  19. Was that bag big enough for this thread? Can you choose my lotto numbers for saturday evening too please?
  20. Is that a QR code at the top of the seat post? (last photo) - maybe you can scan that?
  21. Catogorise it properly and you'll be fine. Every bike needs a spot in the sun, even ebikes. As for cheaters, well... just shoot them. Much easier
  22. Did you nick the jockey wheels from the xtr set? That does look super cool with those over sized jockey wheels
  23. City of gold, out south this morning
  24. I'm a die hard HT fan, currently ride a carbon HT. My take on it as a middle to back of the pack rider... get a dual suspention if you are going to ride races and stage events My HT is difficult to control over loose marble/loose rocks/loose sand sections. The dual bikes come flying past as their suspention does the work on keeping the back wheel where it should be... tracking on the dirt whilst the pedlar on top is doing what he should be doing... pedalling. Over these specific sections the tail on my bike is bouncing all over the shop which forces me to stop working the drive train and instead control the bike to make it over the piece of section ahead. This naturally gives the dual bikes the upper hand. I do know that tyre pressure is critical to get right based on the prevailing conditions, but we dont always have this luxury of getting it right for every set of conditions. My HT is siht fast on district roads, but as soon as you throw in corrugation then the tail is all over the shop which leads to less pedalling, again. My previous ally frame was a softer ride than the carbon, and I'm guessing a steeler is a softer ride than an ally Whilst I do agree that any HT has its place in the sun, I think a dual bike has more options and places to go
  25. Was recovered in plett.. Just so happened to be shared on the cradle fakebook page too
