Run a 34 oval on 11sp 11/46 cassette - its about the best you can get for percentage spread Most times you'll climb on the 37 (on both cassettes) anyway, and the needed 46 granny is there if you decide to climb a steep slope, instead of the 42. Its a big jump for the deraillieur from the 37 to the 46 (compared to the 42), but most XT style der's can handle the jump if you have a long cage - just set your B screw nicely and have the correct chain length. With the 34 oval it's (in theory) the same as a 32t when climbing You still get the joy of the 11 on the flats and downs (on both cassettes) but the added advantage of the 34 oval (36t when you need the extra on the flats - in theory) I tried a 36T round on an 11/46 11speed and died on the flats. The 36 was just too much Now I'm stupid and run a 38t 10/51 edit: I see you're on Sram - I'm out of my depth on those components

The point is that to eclipse the boom it needs to have a hair cut first, and with credit being so readily handed out to any Tom, Brett and Mary - it tends to exacerbate the situation into keeping it boomed. Its crazy, you can get finance for a 2nd hand frame these days... and people take it! Interestingly enough, Ive just purchased a pair of Vittoria mezcal's 2.35's ( if anyone cares to know they'll run on my 30mm wide rims)... and the specs on the side walls suggest a pressure setting of between 2 ~ 4 bar (say 29 ~ 58psi for those stuck in the imperial ages) For normal tar hood applications I issue around 2bar F/R, and for a road event I put as much as the poor floor pump will give me. When busting the dirt I run it down to around 1.7 on the rear and 1.2 on the front based on the pump gauge I wonder then if we are all running a too low a pressure on the tyres? (and perhaps a too high pressures on the suspentions?) Or did I just rabbit hole it?

Anyone here in the know to assist with a Mecer 5kva inverter (I presume) settings? When running on utility and the cooling fans on the inverter kick in, the lights flicker as if its a major current draw (once only and every time the fan kicks in which is a random time span). Ive made sure nothing else is running in the house, not even the fridge. The only current draw is the garage light or a single bulb in the passage Any ideas what I can check?

I think this proposed tarrif is just a red herring, you know, a classic Kansas city shuffle that the general joe schmo public person is falling for. I suspect its got a lot to do with trying to get the masses to start paying or stay on the grid. That way users are in fear of getting a huge penalty and pay to consume power which inadvertently plays into the utilities hands anyway. It reminds me of the Bell Pottinger campaigns - has similar style ring tone to it dont you think? And why are the main stream media outlets not making a huge song and dance about this anyway? I wouldnt get into too much of a flat spin about it especially off the mybroadband site, not that it detracts me from moving off grid in the future anyway.

Thanks chris, but it doesn't answer directly why register with Nersa. To me if you're off grid, then you're off grid. The regulating authority can sit on their middle finger as it will have nothing to do with them as I'm off grid. Of course, for insurance (and bond insurance) it's necessary to have a coc Nersa to me is another future taxing body, that once you've registered you're stuck - akin to the old telly licenses type scenario. If, however, there is a major benefit to me or the individual user to register with Nersa then yes, let's all do it. But our esteemed guvment people have shown time and time again that this isn't the case and therefore my suggestion as to what they can do stands

I have a simillar unit, called a Jackery. It's a great little unit but they have their limitations. I'd be keen to see if it can run an IDT though (I don't have an IDT but I'll get a pal to test it on his) The jackery can run the telly/router and a lamp for just under 3 hours as an example, and back to full recharge via eksdom or car in under 6 hours Also busy installing a 5kva Mercer inverter, that'll drive the whole place for a day
