  1. Almost ended up with lamb stew????
  2. The old steel frames vary a bit, but I have mostly found it possible to fit a 28 mm on the rear and a 32mm on the front. Don't settle for a 25mm until you have tried in a wheel with an inflated 28mm at least. It makes a BIG difference in comfort and handles rough road, potholes and stones much better than a 25mm. It also sticks better in the wet. I run Continental Gatorskins in the above sizes on 3 old classic bikes and a set of Thickslick urban tyres from Rook Cycles on a single speed. They may say 25 mm but definitely have more volume than that. Nothing beats the Contis for toughness though, and they last as well.
  3. Damn, just like that you made me turn the colour of Ireland ????
  4. I like the acronym - GADA But to be honest, for me, the closest I can get is 3 bikes to combinedly give me 1 GADA (1 really fantastic road bike, 1 really great old classic steel bike that also functions as a gravel bike, 1 lovely playful mtb trail bike)
  5. Useless lot, as bad as the RAF
  6. ????Morph, that must be the ugliest post I've seen on Bikehub ever
  7. Lovely mix of interests in this thread. ????
  8. Build it, build it, build it, build it, build it, build it, build it, build it, build it, build it, build it????
  9. Lord Stella Rusk of The Reader
  10. ????
  11. I think you may have unearthed a previously unknown Parlee model - perhaps the redneck tobacco whewing cousin of the Chebacco? ????
  12. All that sci-fi stuff in the movies where the CIA can see you anywhere on earth if your left earlobe slightly shows under a hoody and send a drone to fry you only works on enemies of the USA.????
  13. A way to ride people off your wheel?????
  14. Yes! Professional or not, a crash makes you nervous. I've had a bad one 2 years ago and I still avoid groups I don't know. Just as well I'm not riding the TdF
  15. It is related to Cannondale and sports a Lefty????
  16. On the Defender I had an old fishing rod that I cable tied to the bull bar to exactly the height of the bikes whenever we took them into the bundu. It became second nature soon enough and I never swiped a bike off the roof. What I did though, was to get 12 punctures on one side of a bike wheel where it stuck out on the side of the Defender (while on the rear bike rack) and we squeezed through some thorn trees on a narrow bit of farm road.
  17. That's what all those posts about Donald Trump caused on BikeHub. ????
  18. I have a mate who is addicted to Agrimark. He simply cannot drive past r through a town that has one without stopping there.........come to think of it, he has some other quirks too!????
  19. Fixed! But, damn, he's cute!????
  20. I find that mostly farmers will be very happy to talk to you, especially in the remoter parts of the world, if you respectfully drive up to the farmhouse, knock on the door and ask nicely if you may ride up that little track you noticed going up the mountain behind the house. Ninety % of the time they will take 20 minutes of your time talking about this and that and letting you know that they think you are nuts to even think of riding a bike, let alone on THAT little track where the bulldozer nearly came to grief last winter...........but give it a go anyway boet..........don't be surprised if you get offered a cold drink when you finish your ride and go to say thank you and show him the picture you took from the top.
  21. Since the "photography" thread is dead...........messing around with sunset!
  22. Something colourful for a change. To celebrate the survival of the "awesome stuff" thread? Not that the sketch is awesome, it's just a little scribble in colour pencils.
  23. I am sorry to see the Covid threads gone. On the balance I think it served an important informational purpose and who knows, it possibly even saved a few lives in the process? But I do understand that the moderators were kept way too busy to police things that were not cycling related.
  24. Those old classic soccer boots are often repurposed by classic bike riders who use toe clips for events like Eroica. If you flatten the underside on a belt sander, they are the perfect cycling shoes and they look like the original period shoes too. If anyone has an old pair lying around in UK 8, let me know and I'll take it off your hands.
  25. Long Covid, it messes with the motivation, I tell yea ????
