  1. I think he means the "complete wheel's hub" is wider which probably means the wheel he got with the trainer has a boost hub with a through axle and his frame is non-boost with a quick release.
  2. I do but I am in Gauteng. Shipping it might not make it worth while.
  3. Just put the training tyre on your mtb wheel.
  4. Holding thumbs. Took me several weeks of searching before I was 100% sure of what I needed.
  5. These things seem to be hard to find and the shops really have no clue what any of it means. I was looking for exactly the same thing for my Cannondale. There was a bit of a mix up but in the end I got this from EvoBikes: https://evobikes.co.za/product/kcnc-headset-f10-black-semi-1-1-8-upper-ec-1-5-lower-black-zs44-28-6-l-ec49-40/ I did not have a need for the upper assembly as it is for a tapered headtube but the lower cup, bearing and race was exactly what I needed.
  6. Not sure if I understand your message correctly. Are you looking for SHIS EC49/40? In other words a lower headset assemby, External Cup for a 49.Xmm inner diameter head tube to fit a tapered fork?
  7. This depends on your legs I have thus far done perfectly fine with my 9-speed but I don't do long distance gravel rides and prefer more technical trails.
  8. If he fits a narrow-wide chainring I doubt he will need the front derailleur. I have yet to lose my chain since I fitted the narrow-wide. I removed the front derailleur, shifter and have a SRAM X9 9-speed without clutch.
  9. This is correct. If you plan on riding it for a couple of years it should not be an issue. I have a 2008 model Cannondale. It is a dual suspension and was fairly decently specified to begin with but only a 26". I have since upgraded to 740mm Syncros bars, 60mm Specialized stem, 34T oval narrow-wide front chainring (running 1x9 at the moment), SRAM Level T brakes with 4 piston caliper upfront, 180mm Rapide brake rotors, Manitou Magnum 140mm fork and 27.5+ wheel upfront and Lyne dropper post. Will I get my money back when I try to sell it? Not in a million years. This bike is now awesome for me though and I love it.
  10. It very much depends on the fork in question.
  11. That is quite a difference what width 29" is that?
  12. The wheel circumference difference between a 27.5 x 3.0 and a 29 x 2.3 is around 6mm. I doubt you'd notice a difference in BB height.
  13. Personal preference for sure but the Trek looks a heck of a lot better than the Scott. The Trek has a nicer fork, Scott has better brakes. Not much in it I believe. Now if you could get a Cannondale for that price...
  14. I agree with this 100%. I bought a Silverback Stride MD with a Zoom coil fork, mechanical disc brakes and Shimano Tourney and believed it would be more than enough. I probably had it for 2 or 3 months before I started looking for something else.
  15. In terms of performance but surely not in terms of durability? I am pretty sure there are hundreds of thousands of coil forks out there that have never been serviced and still work (as poorly) as on day one.
  16. Heck if I could choose it would preferably be Ohlins. I am also quite disappointed that my Manitou is just OK. Here I was thinking my fork is great.
  17. The Titan Rogue Sport comes with a Suntour Raidon from what I can tell which is pretty good by most accounts. Better than the entry level Rockshox air forks. The Titan looks like a good deal.
  18. I have not ridden that many bikes but from those that I have I prefer the slightly smaller wheels. I might be totally off the mark and might just have to ride more trail oriented 29ers. For the time being I will not be buying anything though.
  19. Then yours must be the first generation that came without the brace. I have a 2008 that has a brace - a 650b will never fit with the brace there and I am hesitant to remove the brace and grind away the tabs.
  20. That is good news. Did you have to grind away the support brace tabs?
  21. Here she is now. New SRAM Level T brakes with 4 piston upfront and new Rapidé 180mm rotors front and back. New Manitou Magnum 27.5+/29 fork with 140mm airspring. WTB 45mm front rim with 3.0" front tyre. Rear remains unchanged 26x2.25 for now. Will replace it with a 2.35 when the time comes. Might also swap the front for a 2.6. Photos from before I installed the rotors.
  22. They did not have stock of what I needed unfortunately.
  23. Exactly. The general attitude of Naas and they way they dealt with it impressed me.
