  1. take it outdoors so the sunlight can fall on it.
  2. put it this way, my first race in VB was the Berg n Dales. looked around at all the grey hair toppies and thought, mmm easy. Got dropped in the first 2 km. Its the best place to attack hard and break up the bunch immediately. Warm up WELL! your heartrate will hit new highs up that hill trying to keep up.
  3. yup, silly. Same day as the MTN series kickoff at Dullstroom. Cant wait for some good dirt racing...
  4. haha, at Berg n Dales? good luck, its not that easy! Give it horns!
  5. Yes go see Michael at The Massage Spot, in the Wellness centre, next to Di Data Campus in Bryanston. - Excellent. 072 3659 767 michael at themassagespot dot co dot za
  6. Didnt see the AL crash, must have been ahead of it, sorry to hear, hope those involved are ok? nice hard event, set up great for the finish sprint but double thigh cramps with 1 km to go put an end to my aspirations. R4S to follow.
  7. to force those that arnt bothering to help with the work to catch some air. guttering.
  8. Nonsense. If I am a client and have used a service, and then get saddled with a sudden increase that defies logic I will voice my opinion on it.
  9. handle bar: Aluminium to carbon. Shifters: triggers to gripshift Tires: tubes to tubeless.
  10. not sure what you mean by blades. on the front at your crank its called chain rings, on the rear, its sprockets of your cassette. rear deraileur moves the chain, and the chain rotates off the jockey wheels in the jockey hanger. you have a driveside chainstay and a non-driveside chainstay, and similarly a seat stay on both sides. Clean your chain and assess each link, check if any links are coming apart and if so remove that part of the chain and install powerlinks or new section of chain. If the chain is falling off your 11t sprocket and getting stuck between the chain stay and the sprocket, then your limit screw on the rear derailleur needs to be reset. grinding sound may be grit etc in your bottom bracket that your crank axle passes through. your chain shouldnt be getting stuck between the chainstay and the chainring blades, unless they are horribly bent, but even then...
  11. hahahahahaha... no wait, hahahahahaha...
  12. In the past we did. one would wrap your bike up to the nth degree and put it on the plane, chancing whatever comes as it was a FREE service (with Kulula anyway). So last year Kulula decided to start charging for bike transport both there and back again. So, the dilemma then was do you pay a slight bit extra with Elliot, and get insurance, and proper transport care, or pay Kulula to throw your bike around and into the hold with no insurance. No brainer. Now if you dont book early you pay the premium.
  13. you better use up those calcium pills fast, they expire really soon.
  14. Minnaar scared? NEVER!
  15. mmm Their service is very professional, and I cannot fault them there. But wow, it is a big stick to wave to fill your order book.
  16. Wondering as to the real reason for this. Has bookings been really slow (due to the overall high costs, current situation) and they want to fill their bookings ASAP. It cant be the interest rate hike; 37.5% hike is just OTT. Gravy train pulled into the station? It probably takes 3 bikes to cover the fuel costs from JHB to CT and back now, then perhaps a couple more for truck and driver rental, and maybe a few more to cover insurance and space hire... Lekker by die see. Or perhaps its all the new e-Toll costs
  17. Wow. Just received an email that Eliot Mobility's bike transportation rates will change from R1090 to R1500 for this years Argus... how can such an increase be justified? Its making this event really expensive for out-of-towners... Dear Elliott Mobility customer Please ignore this Price Increase Notification if you have already booked your bike transportation with Elliott Mobility to the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour in 2014. IF YOU HAVE NOT BOOKED YOUR BIKE TRANSPORTATION AND STILL PLAN TO DO SO, PLEASE TAKE CAREFUL NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING: Due to growing demand for our bike transportation service every year together with limited capacity and restrictions on parking space in Cape Town, Elliott Mobility is forced to increase the cost of our bike transportation service from all locations from Monday, February 10, 2014. Current rates: Single bikes @ R1 090.00 and Tandems bikes @ R1 690.00 New rates from Monday, February 10, 2014: Single bikes @ R1 500.00 and Tandem bikes @ R2 300.00 We are not discounting the possibility of further price increases closer to the event and we encourage you to please book your bike transportation without delay (www.elliottmobility.com/argus/) in order to take advantage of our current rates. Our online booking site will close without prior notice once full capacity is reached. For any queries, please contact us on 011-256-3000 or cycletour@elliottmobility.com We look forward to being of service to you again in 2014. Warm regards,
  18. 112/101, all the same really, that slight detour will not even be noticed. good luck!
  19. Marathon. going to be really good.
  20. you must be doing it all wrong...
  21. Plenty. Climbing starts in the last third of the race (100km) as you drag back up from Rietvlei. Lekker ride, had fun last year.
  22. ok googled it. looks very interesting indeed, thanks for the info.
  23. whats the link for Oneup? sounds interesting. what size rear deraileur do you need for the 42t, med or long cage? I have a 32t chainring and in Karatara, it was quite an effort getting up some of those climbs with a 36rear.
  24. just remember 26"1x10 is not the same as 29"1x10. for those suggesting to just go train harder, you are F.O.S. On the steep stuff, a 36 rear and 32 front is hard work and tiring on a 29" bike (not impossible, but you can run out of fun). a 42 bail out option is a good one, and the general Lee conversion rather than the XX1 cassette is the cheaper choice.
  25. yup. If you can build up some sort of relationship with the mechanic at your LBS, it helps a lot. He can put a face to the bike he is working on, and you can too.
