  1. Hey Guys, I love riding on-road about as much as I love watching Isidingo, so I've been trying to find decent some off-road trails in my area to train on during the week. So far I've found: a) A 2km loop around Pigeon Valley Park. B) A couple of smaller loops in the nature reserve behind the cricket fields at the varsity (think it was bout 1.5km's in total). Anyone know of any other trails in the greater Glenwood / Berea / Musgrave area?
  2. If you haven't found the reviews you're looking for on those sites, then your best bet is Google
  3. I know what most of you thinking... not another guy who had a great experience with CWC, but I just have to give praise where it's due. Ordered some goodies yesterday afternoon from CWC online and the package arrived at my offices by 10:30, less than 24 hours later. Great price, great service - thanks guys!

I recently got the Reba. Was looking at the same options as you, but from all the digging around I did it seems like the major difference was a weight saving. The Reba is generally seen as the hardier one that required less maintenance than a SID. Can't go wrong with the Reba though. Awesome fork!
  5. And check out Bike Magic. They seem to have slowed down on the new reviews, but the ones they have are pretty good.
  6. You can also flip through the older Tread magazines.
  7. That video showcases the awesome scenery but doesn't do the trails justice. There's some really awesome riding to be had out there! I'd recommend anyone in the area to make an effort to check it out for themselves.
  8. Also forgot to mention that Obike has some pretty good prices so definitely worth checking them out as well.
  9. Silverback bikes are usually very good value for money and you should be able to find one in that price range. Can't seem to find any online so you'll need to check with some local bike shops.
  10. Also keen to get an update on old Luke Preston Scott or whatever his name is. Anyone?
  11. Another one to consider would be the Polar S720/725. Gives you a full breakdown of your ride complete with altitude, speed, HR, temperature, etc. I picked mine up for around R2500, but that was a while back.
  12. Fan-d@mn-tastic! This will make finding the item you're looking for a whole lot easier! Thanks Admin
  13. Definitely wasn't your eyes / the beers. I had the same problem (and co-incedentally also blamed the beers ).
  14. In my opinion, the time frame for the complaint should not make a difference if the sale was made in good faith. Either the wheels had the crack in them when sold / they didn't. Also, the description given for the wheels does not match what arrived on the other side, so in my opinion the sale is null and void and Snip should take the wheels back for a full refund.
  15. Geez - sorry to read about your hassles iRob. I'm currently in the market for a new frame, and have been keeping my eyes open for an Anthem, but with after sales service like this, I'll definitely be looking at other options. There's no doubting that the bikes are awesome, but the local distributors are doing the brand no favours.
  16. Fully agree on what a poor showing this is. I understand it's the first year so there would be some problems, but come on - the on screen info (or lack thereof) is ridiculous, the image quality looked like something from the 80's and the camera work was appaling. I watched about 5 minutes of the 10,000ft view of the breakaway on Saturday and got so bored I gave up watching. I really feel sorry for Phil - he's had a tough time commentating on this one! Surely CSA should have taken a leaf out of the Cape Epic broadcasts which were much more entertaining and professional?
  17. +1! A bit out of the way for me (they're in Pinetown), but definitely worth the trip. They were the only LBS that were able to do a helicoil insert to repair my hub, and based on the service I got I'll definitely be making use of them again.
  18. I've been frequenting DWC for the past few years. Very friendly service and seem to be relatively well priced. Dave even offered to lend me his own bike light for a weekend once when I couldn't find one I wanted to buy! Not much more you can ask for from a LBS
  19. Tough one. From what I've seen lately you could probably make more selling the parts individually. People will snap up items they want for a fair price (individual parts are generally more expensive than if you buy a package). The downside is that you may end up with a few bits and pieces that don't sell for the price you want. I'd suggest you put first try sell the full bike given that it's less admin for you to sell the complete bike. If you don't get the price you want, then split it up.
  20. Just a thought guys - there's a very good chance that XXX is still online using another alias and watching this thread with great interest. Admin - in the interests of preventing future fraud, is there any sort of policy about blocking IP addresses for confirmed fraudsters? I know it's not a foolproof solution, but it's another step towards preventing fraud from Kippy sitting in at home in his parents garage trying to con hubbers out of some hard earned cash.
  21. Goose - Out of curiosity - how did he convince you to send the wheels without payment? He must be quite a smooth talker.
  22. Wonder if this is the same guy another hubber mentioned a few weeks back? Also on a specialized dual sus.
  23. What you saying about BigH?
  24. Unbelievable! He's doing consigment stock Goose - maybe you'll get paid once he gets paid
  25. LOL! I'd agree with what a few guys have said on today's posts - at the end of the day, common sense goes a long way. Things like number of posts, kind of content the seller has posted, a quick check of previous sale posts (e.g. I wouldn't buy from the oke that was trying to sell the dodgy RockShox fork as a SID a few weeks back) and detail in the advert should be enough to make up your mind. If in doubt, walk away or insist on seeing the goods in person. The ratings system is open to abuse, but a suggestion is to show who has rated the person. If you spot quite a few people you know that have rated the seller then you can probably infer that he's (or she's) legit. Anyways - very keen to see what everyone else thinks.
