I've painted it since and replaced the hooks with two bike clamps. Works like a charm.

'04 Corsa 50k, hardtail at 15k so roughly 3:1. I saw a Beetle (the old one, not the fancy new one with the flower pot) with a Cannondale Flash on the back, wonder what his ratio is!

Do you know where the fountains entrance is? If your coming from jhb you probably taking the N14, then Eeufees rd to get to PTA West, instead of turning left towards PTA West (at Eeufees) just turn right. The entrance will be right in front of you, just ask them to direct you to Groenkloof but basically just follow the road to the left (once inside fountains).

Never noticed the showers, then again I live right next to Groenkloof (Monumentpark ext) so never really needed it.

Your flashdrives would probably work faster on the ones at the rear, I know mine does. And my external HD doesn't work at all (at the front).

I don't know if this is going to work but you can give it a try. I see in your OP you only tried the USB ports on the front of your computer. Some PC's only support USB 1.1 on the front and USB 2.0 at the back. And certain devices require USB 2.0 to charge so try one of the ports on the back.

Groenkloof is a lot flatter while the Monument has lots of ups and downs, you'll definately "Feel the burn". Personally I prefer Groenkloof. Gates open 5:30 in summer as far as I know, during the week you have to use the Fountains Valley entrance. There are showers at Fountains Valley but I wouldn't recommend them.

Come to Groenkloof, it's worth the drive!

When I tighten them anymore than about 5NM (according to torque wrench) the wheel seriously resists turning on the axle, I take it my cones are too tight then?

Sorry for the partial hijack but can anyone tell me how tight the locknuts on the rear hub should be?

According to Beeld, the guy that was arrested was the buyer of the bike, not the hijacker. He bought it for R1500. Picture looks like a Scott Scale, I'm not that clued up an the Scotts so don't know which one it is, picture is unclear.

This is purely something I heard from someone who heard it from someone who knows someone who knows (in other words, I don't know if it's true)but apparently there are no white McD's owners in South Africa. Franchise policy they said.

The question is what do they do with these bikes. They are targeting expensive bikes so clearly they have some knowledge regarding cycling. Since they targeting specifically these bikes they won't be selling them for next to nothing in the townships. So they have to have someone with a "legitamate" reason to have and sell these bikes. Unless, like crack said, they're hub users and offloading them here.
