  1. It was a very dangerous finish, with such a small lane. I was just behind that crash in the final sprint and only just managed to sneak through - almost hit the barrier on the right. Although the bunch was relatively small at this point (max 20 riders), trying to sprint in such a small space will always end in disaster.
  2. Hardly a deal...
  3. I'm assuming you're using two different laptops with two different Zwift accounts?
  4. I have read through this thread with great interest as I am looking at setting up a dedicated indoor pain cave for the upcoming winter. I already have an old road bike that I will be using, as well as a Cycleops Powersync (ANT+). Up until now, I have been using my old laptop with PerfPro for interval training - it works well, but can be rather boring. I'm looking at training on Zwift over winter, but I would need to buy a new platform in order to run it as my old laptop isn't capable. After several days of reading, I see the recommendation from most websites is to buy the new apple TV and get a 4iiii heart rate strap to act as a bridge for all the ANT+ sensors. Does this make sense? Then I can connect my Apple TV to a big screen tv and then I'm all set to go. Am I missing something? Just to throw another spanner in the works - my wife is now starting to get into her riding and will more than likely also be spending a considerable amount of time on the indoor during winter. I have a spare Cycleops fluid trainer which I believe is compatible with Zwift using a speed and cadence sensor as it estimates your power output from the known fluid power curve. Can I use the same apple TV for both of us? Or do I have to get one apple TV and one big screen TV per account?
  5. If you send it to your London office, can you not claim the VAT back when you exit the UK? This would make it even cheaper! Obviously, you would need to then declare it when you came back to SA, but 14% VAT is cheaper than the UK 20%
  6. By my calculation, including the 26.25% duty fee, the complete bike will cost in the region of R118500 landed in SA
  7. Go to http://www.xoc.co.za/index.html. You can generate a quote upfront. I have used them for several bicycle and wheel transfers - very efficient and well priced. Purchased a set of wheels from a guy in Cape Town - wheels were collected on Friday morning and were just delivered to me now in perfect condition.
  8. If you have one of the newer Garmins, such as the 520, you can share a live track with your wife of every ride so she can monitor where you are at all times. Furthermore, it also has the incident detect function which works really well!
  9. She is going to be amazing!
  10. So 5 of these bad boys will be sufficient to power a Tesla! Someone should tell Mr Musk that all the heavy equipment isn't needed...
  11. Spent a week in the Maldives for my honeymoon: iPhone 6 *Edit: Yes, the water is that colour!
  12. Love their kit. Bought a few of their race cut tops - very nice fitting and comfortable! Awesome designs as well!
  13. There were a serious number of riders around Suikerbos yesterday. It took 30 minutes just to get through the front gate. Couldn't have asked for better weather - ended up doing a fast double.
  14. Imported off the front racing rims from the States, laced to American Classic RD205 & 58 Hubs with Sapim CX ray spokes. Wheelset weighs 1405g for a 50mm deep and 25mm wide carbon clincher.
  15. My newly upgraded baby, all race ready: Climbs like an animal...

  17. Agreed! They would get a lot more people if it was on a weekend...
  18. Anyone still looking for some strong riders? There are 4 of us looking to join a team for this race in a months time - all elite riders. Message me if you are looking?
  19. Was planning on doing this race for the first time this year - with that entry fee, it's off the cards... Furthermore, on principal I have stopped entering ASG races - they charge a fortune and then don't deliver. The comparison between Berge en Dale and Ride for Sight was day and night - never mind the fact that Ride for Sight was 25% cheaper.
  20. Peak two hours NP of 320W - that's a serious amount of power!
  21. I'm really disappointed with the organizers of this race. They charge R390 for a race, which in my opinion is far below standards of a lot of other races, such as carnival City. No one at ASG is able to confirm the exact distance - map on website shows 97km, registration showed 102km, the announcer at the start indicated 105km and all Garmins gave 107km?! How is this the only race with this issue? The leading half of the elite bunch got sent the wrong way after Krugersdorp hill - we had to turn around and chase, with the majority of the group never making it back. This was due to very poor marshaling (I don't think the marshals were expecting us so soon). The rail way track was also not covered and resulted in several punctures. Apparently it was only covered for the later racing groups. For the amount of money that ASG charges, one would expect all of the above "basics" to be dealt with. It's such a fantastic route, it's just a shame that ASG seems more interested in screwing everyone out of their money than putting on a world class race...
  22. Wow! Now that's a bike! Looks like it could be from the movie "Tron"
  23. Why not do both? Maluti is on the Saturday and L'etape on the Sunday.
  24. I don't think that the Cateye will take off. No ANT+ for sensors such as power meters is a killer and making use of your phones GPS will mean you can't go on very long rides - my battery drains very quickly when the GPS is active.
