  1. I see CWC is selling it now for R55k!!!
  2. Wonder how much they are going to charge. Looking at the Black Friday "special" of R37500 on CWC, the prices locally are going to be outrageous compared to international
  3. Toilet services and availability were a disaster - People were waiting for over 30 minutes before the start. Once again, ASG charges ridiculous prices and then can't even provide the basics...
  4. I also have the 10 speed version and use a XTR RD. I just installed the longer limit switch provided with the cassette and it works perfectly. Speak to Wayne from Rapide if you have any questions - brilliant customer service and he has all the answers with regards to these cassettes.
  5. Agreed, I get full time coaching with reviewing of data, planning etc. for a third of that cost
  6. Nothing new here...
  7. Here's my baby: Best machine I have ever owned!
  8. Not sure a V02 test is required - I haven't done one. A coach is a must - you need structured training and someone who is able to identify your bodies reaction to training - the trick is not to overtrain.
  9. A lot of time in the saddle, and structured training. It won't happen over night - it takes months and years of constant dedication. I'm currently in the process of getting close to the 5W/kg point and my goal is to be over that. Current FTP is 320W and I weigh 67kg. I'm spending 6 days a week on the bike (around 15 hours per week) - very structured training with a coach. Also spend 2 hours a week in the gym strengthening (hurting) the legs.

  11. If you want a quality wheelset build at a great price, take your wheels to David Marshall. He has built several wheels for me and always does a fantastic job!
  12. This young man has serious talent. It's only going to be a matter of time before he gets a win!
  13. I hear you and I agree to a certain point. Some of the benefits are beneficial. However, what really has upset everyone is initially they promised almost all races would be part of their calendar. Now they officially launch and almost nothing is included. Additionally, I wouldn't be purchasing a garmin 810 in the first place because of the price, R800 certainly won't change my mind. For this scheme to work successfully, they need a fair number of people to buy into it. Offering discount vouchers on only the most expensive garmins certainly isn't going to achieve this. The average person who signs up with this would expect to see save money in the long term if a sufficient number of races were entered. This is no longer the case as most events aren't included. I think it's a brilliant idea by discovery, but it just seems that they have rushed through the thinking simply to get it launched. I think they could have done a much better job.
  14. Haha this is a joke! They have removed the majority of the events that they were promising. You're going to struggle to even earn your R900 back. Over promising and under delivering Edit: spelling
  15. Yup, if you do the racing calendar in Gauteng alone, you will be saving a lot of money! Will definitely be joining this next year

I rode AL and I was extremely disappointed with the race. The downhill start was dangerous, the marshals were non existent and the route was terrible! There are enough f*cking flat races in joburg, we don't need another one... Last years route was much better! For the entry fee, it's a joke! No signs out on the route, no directions. Finish was poorly organized... Myself and a lot of my friends who ride competitively will never be back. This race was a joke and should be removed from the race calendar.
  17. Have you tried Merlin cycles? They often have great specials
  18. That's crazy! I'm paying R470 a month for a road bike and mtb bike insured together for R100k. This includes cover during racing, training, theft etc.
  19. I'm with Miway for both my road a mountain bike. Great service when coming to claiming. Claimed two wheel sets from them - they even gave me a brand knew set of lightweight meilensteins
  20. Yup full price was paid! A supposedly reputable shop made the sale for a brand new spez SL4 frame set. Also just turned out to be a fake. Check was done with spez after hearing about the fake dogma.
  21. Apparently pinerello international is now sueing the company... Additional, one of my good mates dads recently bought himself a SL4 from the same shop - also a fake!
  22. Anyone ridden a set of 38 or 50 and can provide feedback?
  23. Hi all, I have contacted dark horse about arranging a test ride of their wheels in joburg, however they are unable to assist. I have ridden a 50mm clincher set before and wasn't very impressed - there was a lot of flex in the wheel. Is there anyone in joburg that would let me test ride a set? I'm concerned about the flex in the wheel and I want to try them out first
  24. Hey all, Does anyone know who the agent in South Africa is for lightweight wheels?
  25. The finish was incredibly stupid. Almost had a crash as we were sprinting for the line. No one bothered to warn us before the race about the finish line being up the access road. We were all sprinting for the cones
