  1. Ahhhh, knew there was a reason I was jealous of him. Now I know
  2. This link shows the total build at just over 10kg's http://www.vitalmtb.com/community/The-Crow,27795/setup,27311 This bike was actually a Hubber's, just can't remember who's.
  3. Oh crap, forgot that I promised to do this. Will see what I can do this evening and let you know on the weight.
  4. Well there is a free lube station...
  5. To add to my previous post regarding the gifts, and also the thread. So far my idea has changed a bit to getting a handmade steak knife and cutting board (still toying with the board idea), then invite the guys over for a beer and a braai. Here's the idea we'll be following on the steak knife, a few tweaks and also a stainless blade: Details of the knife maker will be conveyed should they wish to order a set, alternatively it will be used (in my mind at least) per occasion as a steak/meat knife or on a daily basis as a kitchen knife.
  6. I really do dislike you for showing me that website! I just fell in love with the CRKT Pillar:
  7. Advice needed. The time has come for me to appoint a few groomsmen, and I have been instructed by my fiance that it is good practice to buy each a gift. Now I'm a massive fan of useful gifts. So immediately my mind went to a low profile EDC pocket knife. All of the gents are in the corporate environment, so a low profile "invisible" knife is key if it is to be carried and used on a daily basis. If you could have ANY knife for under R500.00 what would it be and why?
  8. I don't think I like the shape of the blade. Make's it look like just another utility blade. And at probably R2500+ you can buy many other knives that will do the same job!!
  9. I need better friends!!!
  10. Might be why it appeals to me. The low rear and the high bars does give it a trials look, however the low BB and slack head angle throws it all off again compared to trials bikes coming in at around 71deg head angles. *Edit: I see the new competition trials bikes comes in with a head angle of 72.5
  11. Loving the Sick Bicycle Company Gnarcissist!!! Almost looks wrong, but ooooh so sexy!!
  12. If you don't mind please share the IG link. Sharing is caring! PS. Nick those are stunning!!
  13. Was wondering whether the cable tie will work on the HB knives. Is it as effective as with the spyderco blade shape?
  14. I never cross that damn thing in Menlyn!!! And if I absolutely have to I only walk on the I-beams. Back in the day it wouldn't bug me to be up there, so with my mom's first time in Menlyn we stood around on the bridge waiting for my dad to catch up, security approached and asked us to move off the bridge as standing on it is not allowed due to safety reasons (we were standing chatting so no hanging over the side etc, therefore not seeming like a jump risk IMO). What exactly they implied I do not know, but if it's not safe to carry a static load I'm staying off it!!!
  15. *Double post
  16. *Couldn't help myself...
  17. Nice!! Nice little touch that they send you an allen key for maintenance. This team effort came together nicely!! From first impressions, how does the rubber scales feel? I'm a bit skeptical of that due to a bad experience of them going sticky. Or are the scales plastic?
  18. On a more practical point, where/how do you carry when riding?
  19. I'm always keen on a beer , and it's a provisional no to the swim. But will get into the pool over the weekend and start training. Might just join for the 400m swim as well
  20. Lets not get ahead of ourselves here. But I reckon the one on the 26th of Nov might see me!
  21. Brilliant thanx guys!! I will start off with the Speedo program and give it a go. How does the swimming fitness curve go? Would it be possible to go from zero to midmar in 4 months? @CBlake: I'll give Heia a call and get some info. I have scuba dived Emmarentia in the winter with the Polar Bear dive, no death or disease but damn that thing gets cold!!!
  22. Good morning guys. My fiance is keen on doing the Midmar 2019, which means that I will most probably join her as I know how much it sucks training alone!! Now swimming is not my strong side, sinking/scuba diving sure, swimming not so much. Here goes my questions: 1) Is there qualifying swims or is it like the 947 where you can just enter? 2) What is the minimum training that one needs to do as preparation? 3) Where does one do this preparation in GP? 4) Is there a specific store in Pta/Jhb you can recommend we visit for some more info and also where to buy gear?
  23. If you do get one please post a short review of it.
  24. Just for you the made a smooth option as well
  25. Honey badger claw maybe?
