  1. Are you gonna have a beam at the start and the finish or only the finish? Cos the problem would be to link the start line to the pc. If its only at the finish then just bastardise your keyboard so that one of the keys is activated by the beam The best system has to be freelap timing poles, but the cost is high and everyone needs a freelap watch I have been thinking about a sensormatic type system for a while now. When I work it out ill let you know!
  2. Because none of the regulars actually do any riding! Were all too busy at the keyboard to get on the bike!!!hahahahahahaha
  3. Action cycles in cape town cbd are awesome. Mtb only as far as I know. Paceline cycles in lakeside are good too. I should know, my brother is the mechanic there.
  4. Got that email yesterday. So did everyone else in my office
  5. Its called a corporate mountain bike event. All the “riders“ meet up in the bar afterwards and discuss war stories and try to make deals. Like golf but with less balls
  6. We always ride at 6.30 am on sundays. 7 am in winter. You get the most awesome sunrises and you are down by 9.30 as it gets full.
  7. Its a never ending story. I had to stop for a girl riding up the new dh track, just below the hip jump. Its a fairly blind jump and if the person coming up is short you might not see them untill you are in the air, at which point its way too late to do anything On the other hand the dh track is the only one way trail there, so just try and avoid the masses on the rest. Can't get to uptight, after all it was a beautiful morning up there yesterday!
  8. You can't run any more gears than 7 on that bike. The freewheel is too narrow. 8,9 and 10 speed all use the same width freewheel but 7 is slightly narrower. You might be able to fit a wider freewheel to the hub but not all of them have the same connection to the hub body so you will have to take it in to a lbs if you wanna go that route. I had deore dx on my 92 diamondback apex. Still have the hubs on a bike and the still run well and look sweet! Still got a few other bits too, cranks, rear derallier and brake levers but they are in the museum section of the garage. Next to the diamondback frame.
  9. Got some white grips to match my white frame and seat. Rode Tokai yesterday and now have brown grips, seat and frame...
  10. When I started riding the cannondale was the bike we all dreamed about. Then came the super V dh bike. There is still a new super V frame for sale at recycles in bellvile. And a brand new morewood prime8 !
  11. I would guess from the seventies?
  12. Stick to what the law says. I don't know the law but then I only ride off road...
  13. Go to Muizenburg pavillion offices. I got mine in 5 minutes. On a saturday
  14. Marzocchi 66 are 180mm travel. There are adjustable versions.
  15. When working with carbon bits the most important tool is a...torque wrench! Don't just swing on the allen keys like a monkey or you will cry sooner or later.
  16. Does the frame have an ally insert in the bb? That could have seperated from the carbon if the bb was siezed and too much torque was applied
  17. My favourite : hi I am selling my dh bike cos I don't ride much. Its great for downhill R4000. All the parts are cool. Sorry don't have pics. I mean WTF?
  18. I have a pile of old Dirt in my bathroom. Toilet breaks can get quite long...
  19. None of these mags can hold a candle to Dirt. Best mtb mag ever. Actually best mag ever. Why no one actually distributes it in sa is beyond me...
  20. How much slack chain would be flying around when you are on the 10 tooth cog though? 42 minus 10 divide by two is 16 extra links. That's a lot of metal to have slapping around.
  21. Stellenbosch is probably most central for the greatest number of tracks. You have eden , gspot, jonkershoek, zewenwacht and paarl all within about 20 kms. Contermans and tokai are about 45 mins driving from there too.
  22. Or get a job and pay for your **** like everyone else...
  23. Getting sponsored is easy! Just go and beat all the riders that are already sponsored and their sponsors will notice you and give you a call. Shouldn't take more than 6 hours training a day, every day for a couple of years. Before you know it you'll be getting free energy drink and 20% of your race entry fee covered! Maybe even free tires!!!
  24. I bet Mr Clean could take Mr Min in 2 rounds or less...
  25. Yeah. Missy went to jail for being involved in a deal with about 300kg of weed! That's a bit much for personal use, unless your name starts with Bob and ends with Marley
