  1. I reckon the reason that there are so many more xc riders than AM/freeriders is 1. Its harder to find decent bikes as the importers and retailers sell mostly xc bikes. Not their fault, that is what people buy. 2 the lack of bike park style trails that are easy enough for most to ride, yet still super fun. 3 the idea that all dhfreeriders are dirty kids who don't give a **** about anyone else! Eventually some of the xcmarathon racers will realise that there are other forms of mtbing that are as much or more fun and will start crossing over. I see it happening already. But as long as you are riding a bike on a mountain you are ok in my books.
  2. Looks like Vernon Koekemoers gay nephew.
  3. Its a pity that Honda didn't stick around
  4. SAA cargo. Go to the airport, drop it at saa cargo, pay around R150. Have someone fetch it at the other end about 6 hours later. And they are open 24 hours a day monday to sunday. Easiest way to transport goods around sa. Its how all the couriers do it!
  5. So no free entry then? I have my card checked at the gate about once a year! Then again I think all the guys recognise me so no worries.
  6. Who is this bloohub fool? I have been riding tokai for about ten years. A lot has changed. Some of it by my own hand but all of it by people who care.

  8. First time I rode at silvermine was 1993! No one knew what a mtb was so you could just ride all over the mountain. As long as you were polite to hikers, no problem. Are you still allowed to ride above Simonstown and red hill to the dams?
  9. Its like uncooked, but more so...
  10. 150 mm? I think you mean 15 mm! To raise the cg 150 mm you would need 38 inch wheels!
  11. Its not run by the city. It is sanparks land so your money goes to Pretoria and is then sent to all the national parks in the country. So the trails are fighting against places like Kruger Park for funding. Its just not a high priority on sanparks list
  12. Can you see the difference? More importantly can you feel the difference?
  13. Ya gonna do one for zeewenwacht too? Will have a gopro there for footage
  14. Is it the same on as on youtube? Awesome production. Felt very professional. Nice one!
  15. So why not just get 2.5 tires then????
  16. Put cleen green in a spray bottle. Spray on , use a bottle brush to get the dirt off then hose down. Go and buy some decent lube though. I use finish line dry lube with teflon. A 150 ml bottle lasts me about a year. R 100 or so.
  17. Oh and never try and manual on an indoor trainer. Trust me...
  18. Try riding up a slight hill. Come to a stop ,lock the back brake and try pull up and back as hard as possible. You want to come up so far that you have to jump off the back. Obviously don't use cleats... Now you have found how hard to pull back to go over. Noww ride slowly and try again using slightly less force. You need to get your ass nearly on the back tire to balance it. Once you find how to get it up( wahey! ) Then use the back brake for control. Once you master this then you can learn to corner, pump rollers for speed, and show off as you come back into the parking lot at Tokai!
  19. R8000 divided by ( 7 years x 100 rides per year x 20 km per ride ) equals 58 cents per km. Not bad ...
  20. Ever heard of a penny farthing? 100 inch up front, 16 inch rear. History does tend to repeat itself...
  21. Actually the only solution is to have all the trails one way only, like Giba Gorge. Tokai, or most other places, would need a lot more single track for it to work though. And then there are the trail runners and horses to deal with...
  22. In a nutshell. Just add classifieds.
  23. If you take out all the arguing and pointless debates then there will be nothing to read. It would be like the engineering forum that I was on the other day. Very informative, but boring as hell. Let keep fighting about 29 er vs xc vs littering vs newbies vs 27,5 vs dirtroadies vs dangle vs mods vs blah blah blah ...
  24. I'm having a toast to the Douch bag trail runners who were running down the dh track in tokai this morning. I had to stop and wait for them to get to the road before I could get past( they wouldn't move over 2 feet) and the get comments like“do a ramp“ and “where's the engine in that thing?“ Douch bags!
  25. Ill keep that in mind next ride!
