  1. Nice, but anything with wheels that big and travel that small shouldn't really be in the gravity subforum.
  2. Aww man! I was so looking forward to this
  3. Moderators, can't you put all these wheel size threads into one big pinned thread and call it“Grown men in tight pants argue about size“ or something like that?
  4. True. My dh bike is a foes. The frame cost 2500 pounds new in 2004. I got the complete bike for R3500 in 2010. That's a depreciation of about 90% in 6 years!
  5. There's gonna be some good deals on old stock 26 inch wheels and tyres soon! Start saving
  6. Wp dh1 Wp dh 2 Wp dh 3 Wp dh 4 Wp dh champs Those are the only dh races in cape town. Oh and dirtopia, so that's six? Well I'll miss the first one cos its in George
  7. Well don't buy one then... Although I would dig to have a 94 cannondale, they cost R4000 new bback then. I used to dream of owning one
  8. I fail to see how increasing the radius of your wheels by 12mm can make that much of a difference, exept to your wallet.
  9. Is that an obscure southpark reference? And why is your mag full of 29ers. No real bikes at all. You need a gravity, all mountain section!
  10. Only every time I've ever met you! Ha ha
  11. So who's going? Anyone know what the dh and duals tracks are like.
  12. Didn't know anything about a build! Was it posted anywhere? 7 april is easter weekend so lots of excuses for not going. But ill be there.
  13. Be careful of powdercoating ally frames. It gets pretty hot in the oven and can mess with the ally if its heat treated. The guy that did my steel frame had a guy bring his frame in and it came out warped!
  14. Oh dear! Doesn't your old one fit? Maybe someone will swap the marzocchi one for a rockshox one
  15. Just thought of another problem with a 29er dh bike. Who would buy one? I mean its not like you could borrow a new one and take it on a few flat out dh runs, then take it back and say“ no thanks, that sucks“ . And you couldn't try your mates one cos they don't have one. So someone has to be the guinnea pig and buy a R30 000 bike with no idea if it will be any good. Not me thanks
  16. I think a 29er dh bike would be a bit slow in the tight stuff and harder to throw around in the air. And the wheels would explode unless you made them super heavy
  17. Its gonna be funny when you guys buckle your back wheel slightly and have to walk home! Seriously, that looks pretty tight back there. Fine in a woman, not a bike. And why is thread in the gravity section anyway?
  18. Excuse my ignorance but if a 650b wheel fits straight into a 26 inch frame and fork how much clearance is there? And when it rains won't it clog with mud?
  19. I was gonna type a whole monologue on the pros and cons of various wheel sizes but then I realised, I DON'T CARE! Ride what you like.
  20. Maybe they are busy. Maybe you should go down to the shop in your lunch hour and buy what you need...
  21. Aah when at first we attempt to deceive, what twisted threads we weave..
  22. I am 35 now and am going faster and higher than ever on my dh bike. The one difference is that unlike when I was 17 it takes longer to recover. I crashed on the biggish hip jump at tokai in november and my whole thigh was purple for a week. It still hurts a bit when I drive now and its 4 months later! But I won't stop now. Its too much fun!
  23. The wp dh series had a race there every year up to about 5 or 6 years ago. The original track was about 4 mins long, a total lungbuster! There was also a 4x track . Hopefully the track will be back on the calendar this year.
  24. I think xc riders are insane, riding up the single track and then down the road! Seriously though, dh is not as intimidating as you might think. It just takes practice like everything else.
