  1. Linden Cycles = royal game. You want 50 pages of support? Then say it was Cajees. You want 100 pages of evenly divided knock-down-drag-out Hub fight? Then say it was Cyclelab.
  2. Hi BB - what the guy in the kaftan with the kalashnikov? Yes that was me - Rietvlei to the Blockhouse and back. Sorry if I didnt recognize you whereabouts was it?
  3. Well done Hub-mob, you kept it going til the Oscar trial re-started 20 mins ago, time to go to that one and carry on pre-judging. Actually there's devastating testimony going on right now, you really ought to check it out - Mrs Stipp is up.
  4. Space blanket is about the size of 3 gels; a few pills outside their packets are nothing & duct tape can be the bandage - you should always have some of that I reckon.
  5. The vid on YouTube is well worth watching and, as I said, it was a Uk bike safety ad. Where do we draw the line? Case by case.
  6. I dont agree - there was a great bike safety ad from the Uk with guys playing basketball, and at the end it says - did you see the moonwalking bear? It walks right through the scene but you dont see it as you're looking at the ball. There are times when we just dont see.
  7. Original. Words fail. Well done.
  8. The guy certainly played it cool; maybe his experience tells him it"s not going to come to anything if he sits tight. Well done for preventing the theft.

Sub-3s are easy for accountants - I did a 2:82 one year and my best was a 2:67.
  10. Gotta be careful boiling water and drinking coffee nude.

What was a tandem doing contesting the Va sprint?

What was going on in the VA sprint where a tandem caused a crash just next to Cherise? What on earth was it doing there? The TV commentators had nothing to say about it at the time.
  13. I think your cut and paste skills need work!
  14. It was such a great post because he volunteered the story and was genuinely bewildered about whether cycling was for him or not as a result of this encounter. Of course he conquered his doubts and went on to win many of the classics, before branching into tri events and astronomy.
  15. The thing is ........you are just making stuff up. That which is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. Cyclists biggest problem (apart from attitude) is they got caught.
  16. Point being there's no need to mention it at all unless it's definitive one way or the other. It's just people's way of slyly loading their arguments.
  17. Why would you say they are normally law-abiding, I wouldnt know? But anyway, hitting people is criminal behaviour unless it's a child or between consenting adults. I didnt see any bondage gear, so regardless of what the van folk did, these guys now have a case to answer. There is no way now to know what went on prior.
  18. You were being perfectly reasonable and I was trying to be funny. ....so where do you think the weapons should go? - hitting a guy with a bike is so lame
  19. The courts are sure to take this into consideration and will show leniency - "he's been punished enough."!
  20. Was really good - sorted by Sammajoor and there was rolling road closure for us with police motorbikes. Oh yeah, it was nice to make the kids happy too.

    How fast

You have to start with where you are, so this is normal for you, forget about everyone else. Can you go faster / do you want to go faster? If so, then give it a try and see where it takes you; if not carry on doing what you're doing. The main thing is to be happy. Coming on the Hub and asking "what's normal?" is a refreshingly reckless approach to life - good luck.
  22. Probably But its being dealt with by the police and the cycling body and the cycling club, so no need for us to worry. They appear in court shortly, so more stories will come out there.
  23. It's not even hearsay, it's people making stuff up that fits their particular prejudices. Looks like the cycling authorities are dealing with it, so let's hope they get a good outcome. Quite ironic, if i'm correct, that the club has a reference to the religion of peace in its title - wonder if there'll be any comeuppance there?
  24. Wasn't me
