  1. Also found there was some tyres not available in 27.5 anymore .... wanted a 27.5 hardpack tyre ... couldn't find what I was looking for. Wonder if 27.5 will become obsolete in a couple of years, .. is 29" DH the new std? ....
  2. Anyone know what is the best brand battery to get for a Citizen Promaster diver's watch? Or what brand the manufacturer used as initial battery? CITIZEN PROMASTER AQUALAND WR 200MT JP1010-51E It takes a 3V CR2016, but the watch is very sensitive to voltage drop. Moment it goes below 2.8V the watch low battery indicator starts - (second hand moves 2s every 2s instead 1 x 1) Think I replaced it with Panasonic the last time. It lasted only a year. Energiser seems to be a good choice, but would prefer to use the manufacturers default brand?
  3. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/vintage-bikes/564290/vintage-bridgestone-mb-5-mtb This looks like an awesome bike. And once the rear derailleur fails convert it to a single. But dont remove front derialleur else you will need N/W chainring too?
  4. Hi Nick, these are awesome. Do you have a local supplier for your spokes? or do you have to import all your spokes. I used to get from a company in Somerset West but they have closed down? I'll be sh!t scared of pulling a nipple through a carbon rim that doesn't belong to me .... what is the max tension you do on the spokes when you do carbon rims?
  5. Apologies, you are right ..... don't know what I did 🙃
  6. Thankyou for this. I've also used aramex in my last few imports, they are pretty reliable. The SJS Cycles seat post looks like a really good option edit: just saw the 26mm option not available
  7. Thanks, was hoping not to have to go there, but at least there is some 26mm's on ebay. Will see if there is any response to my bikehub advert over the next few days and if not buy from there. 🙃
  8. Hi, anyone have a 26.0mm seat post I can buy off them, really desperate ..... Need about 220mm length or anything longer Thanks https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/seat-posts/577042/wanted-seatpost-260mm-diameter-220mm-length
  9. We bought a Bundutop RRT, and one of the best parts of the package is the mattress. Full-length thick comfy mattress for a great night's sleep. 😊 Only thing that wasn't to my liking was the electric winch for opening/closing the shell, but there wasn't a manual option available. I am not a fan of battery/electrically operated equipment in the bush.
  10. Also remember to file down the spoke holes if it's a new build with a Dremel file or alike. Sometimes the spoke access hole is quite sharp and with a little pressure the rim-tape will rip/push through, even with 2 layers.
  11. My experience of the Mavic's as well. I brought in a pair of Mavic Open Pro Tubeless rims for my wife's bike a few years ago. Laced them to re-purposed hubs .. then used the recommended Mavic tubeless tires too. That was by far the most effort ever exerted trying to get tires onto rims 🥵🥵 .... I dread the day we're stuck with a flat somewhere when I need to take them off to insert a tube ...
  12. I have an older set road Campagnolo Scirocco G3 (clincher) 35mm wheels that I want to convert to road tubeless this coming weekend. Anyone tried it before, or know of a reason it might not work?
  13. 😉 mmm .. the Boland 100 Miler didn't enforce it either? See CTCT entries are still open for PPA and general public? I'll check in closer to the race date, see if they announce test/vaccination prerequisites .... if mandatory, I'll give it a skip again.
  14. Thx, I couldn't remember it being compulsory for the DC in November last year.. If they are going to enforce it, it would be nice to know beforehand. Could not find it on the CTCT page with a quick scan.
  15. Do you still need to show a negative Covid test or proof of Covid vaccination?
  16. Nice. Thx. This would allow me to mount the sml pump cage with the water bottle cage too.😉
  17. Looking for 3 of these ..... Hinged Water Bottle Cage Clamps 28.6mm Have a classic steel framed bike and lost the original water bottle clamps. The frame does not have cage threads. Anyone know where in SA I can purchase these hinged clamps? Currently hacking it ... but the coffee shop guys don't think much of it
  18. yes, just don't try to remove road Mavic tubeless tyre from a Mavic rim without tyre levers next to the road .... most tyres you can pop off and on again with your hands, not those Mavic's though 😬
  19. As with most things there are pros and cons. When you commute you get forced into the side on the road regularly, into debris, as opposed to your early morning 5am training rides when you can ride well inside the clear road. In my opinion, when you commute, going tubeless is the way to go. My tubeless Gavia's lasts me a few thousand km's before I have to replace them, and saved me from roadside repair many times. But yes, when you do fail, it can be spectacular sometimes. And as for repair of large holes, I have not been very successful to date.
  20. Yes, I leave the plastic, for no reason though. I do use Stan's Race Sealant, but when I remove the tires I wash them thoroughly. I will use your method in future.
  21. Thank you Seems my patches was too small maybe? This is a Mavic Yksion Tubeless tyre that I tried to patch, but eventually just started leaking again.
  22. Thx, which brand patch would you recommend for road tyres? I've tried all kinds of ways to get patches to stick to the inside of road tyres .... what do you use?
  23. I've done 2 repairs before on 700 x 25c and 700 x 28c tyres, and both times the plug influenced the ride quality thereafter. (On a MTB the protruding plug is not a problem) Anyone have recommendations/success stories, on tubeless "road" tyre specific repairs when the damage was too severe for the sealant to do it's job?
