  2. I could never ever pay that much for a carbon frame...sorry I got that wrong, I could never ever pay for a carbon frame...at all. Horses for courses I guess eh? @ OP, I have a OneTen so can tell you that you're very unlikely to be unhappy with one. That said, hard to go wrong with a Stumpy too. Really try make the effort to test ride both, then buy the Pyga
  3. An awesome Aussie with a wonderful bike collection speaks a bit about the history of the bicycle. Thanks to amasendeinja for the find. Click here to view the article
  4. You got seriously lucky. You have 1 of only 8 of those frames, that's how many ended up in the market. So congrats
  5. Very nice. I really like those Contrabands. A little porky, but a very nice ride and I like the local flavour. Nice build you have there. Many happy miles
  6. Pyga, like Tyga and Tatt said. That said, we're probably biased, but he would be silly not give one a try. First class service and warranty too. Go to Hatfield Cycles, I'm sure they would have a demo and their service is excellent. At that size, stay the ****away from carbon anything would be my recommendation. Even a carbon water bottle cage with those hands
  7. Don't they have a model called Tarmac too? On that basis they should sue eToll for the use of tarmac highways. Would at least benefit all of us. What a bunch of f'ing twunts!
  8. The dearly departed (1st pic) Cotic Soda lost a battle with my garage lintel. Sniff sniff Into its 3rd semester (2nd pic): My future sheep. PS. Arrive in Fort Collins, Co, USA today, Black Sheep riding tomorrow (the non-woolly variety). Jealous much anyone?
  9. Ditto, I reckon she was at least 1km from the tunnel on the long dirt road leading back to the start/finish. There were a whole lot of people around her so I did not stop. Timing sounds about right and I saw the ambulance leave the parking lot towards the tunnel a few minutes after I got back. Anyway, not saying some Wally did not ride into her, just that she rode some way before stopping.
  10. Well worth the effort of attending today. Awesome food, even better beer and a really nice laid back feel. The big brands were not really there that I saw, but then I don't really care. That said, for attracting more attendees I hope they'll be there next year. Rode a Contraband and on the test track and will definitely be buying one of those in the not too distant future. Well done to the organizers and exhibitors. Great afternoon out.
  11. That really is awesome!!! Nice one
  12. Indoor trainers - I'm pretty sure all of them - are made to fit a road bike, which, as luck would have it, mostly have a 700C rim size, which, also as luck would have it, is the same size as a 29" mountain bike rim. Smoke blown away, mirrors smashed
  13. Park Tools, Topeak or Lezyne. Check what bolt sizes you have on your bike(s) and buy one that suffices. You don't need a multitool that can convert into a foldout tent, can start campfires and converts into an inflatable survival raft! They weigh a ton and you never use the stuff. Eg get the Topeak with only 9 tools (assuming its enough for what's on your bike), buy a seperate small chain breaker and Robert's your mothers brother.
  14. 2.0bar, but then I'm a bit of a Clydesdale at 90kg. Tyres are a bit of personal thing it would seem, like saddles; you gotta find what suits your arse, not the masses" collective arse! I guess tyres are not too dissimilar especially when it comes to what and how you ride.
  15. I battle to see why they would differ vastly (if at all) in 650B size in comparison with the same tyre in 26" or 29"!? I use that version of the RoRo on both my 26" and 29" bikes and certainly do not find them slippy in the least bit. Most confidence inspiring tyres I've used. Tyre pressure maybe?
  16. Was that you on the other OneTen that came past me at the bottom of that rocky descent? I was doing some bike repair after overcooking a turn near the bottom after trying to overtake the world and their dog there - thanks guys for giving track by the way. Man the Pyga was superb for that race....it's owner, no so much. 1x10 with 34 up front was a bit much for mean the climb after the church.
  17. Ryan, you used "sell" and "Cotic" in the same sentence, a sin punishable by death in some countries. Repent immediately with 500 hill intervals on your SS!
  18. Ruan Deysel of Spokeworks is the importer for WI
  19. Tankman, I think your chain is the wrong way around.
  20. The difference between tubeless and tubeless ready is that the tubeless have a waterproof layer in them, no other difference. This adds weight (obviously) for no real benefit that I've experienced. Certainly the sidewalls have less protection than the snakeskin version. Only thing is you may use a bit more sealant as the sealant now has to form that waterproof layer. If your bike has stood a few days you may see the tyres weeping small amounts of sealant, but that's it. Literally no air loss. Have used a Rocket Ron (or sometimes Nobby Nic) front, Racing Ralph rear combo for about 5 years now.
  21. Schwalbe, lightest tyre that does not have tissue paper sidewalls. Rocket Rons and Racing Ralph are both around 640g (snakeskin tubeless ready ones). That's a big weight saving. Don't bother with the full tubeless ones. Prices have gone up a lot, with the Ront's recent nosedive, but look around and you may still find them for under R600. That said, if you're riding in really sharp rocky terrain stick with the Maxxis. They're bullet proof.
  22. Agreed, it's the 8th deadly sin!!
  23. Erm...steel Black Sheep below. They're a custom builder so you can have what you want, they just mostly build titanium, certainly not exclusively. As to value for money, well now that's in the eye of the beholder is it not? So a moot point other than in your own context of value for money. Me, I quite like the look of Budnitz bikes, but then again they look like a Black Sheep Speedster, which they are a copy of. I'm sure they're really nice bikes too. I just don't like what Budnitz did as I think it insults the craft and art custom bike builders put into their trade. But then that's a free market for you, so it's about choices like Todd says. Me I'll not be choosing a Budnitz any time soon. Also this is certainly not just Black Sheep's one side of the story, this is old news and has been on the web for ages already, coming from many people. Surprised Black Sheep took so long to say something. Budnitz by his own admission burns bridges behind him (Bike Rumour interview) so I guess this was one of them. But hey I'm biased anyway, I've got the first Black Sheep in Africa on order...........
  24. Any pedal for which can purchase a rebuild kit should be avoided like a Hillbfow hooker. That'd be Crank Bros. A rebuild kit! For a pedal? Seriously!? Never seen or heard of a Shimano pedal rebuild kit, and never needed to service my 959s (XTR/XT predecessor) in 5 years. So pretty much what most others said here - XT
