  7. i have had a few snake encounters onthe mtb.durban and surrounding areas is full of the buggers.have seen black mamba,a friend of mine rode over a baby mozam spitting cobra a few feet ahead of me,rode past a night adder in the sugar cane near umhlanga, another mate of mine had a black mamba strike at his wheel and flip into the air(giba gorge),another mate nearly rode over a mamba at giba as well.oh and saw my wife ride past a natal black snake about two feet from her.she was completely onlivious until i mentioned it to her.very wary when riding anywhere in the sugar cane, especially in summer.snakes are **** scared of us and will just move away most of the time, they will come towards us only if threatened or if we are in thier escape route.beautiful creatures, but i crap myself for them.respect
  8. bike is looking sa-weeeet dude!one day when i have some spare cash.......
  9. man i feel your pain!went through five flipping tyres last year on my mtb from cuts that were too big to plug.then i finally put some geax suaggaros on and have the odd puncture.am really happy with them as they are pretty tuff.i reckon no matter what tyres you have on,in mountain biking at some point you are gonna have issues.luck of the draw when it comes to punctures.hope you come right
  10. 97km/h on my mtb but it was on a tar road!
  11. not my cup of tea.to put it mildly!and then i scrolled down and saw that spesh.......had to take some headache tablets!
  12. got any more pics of the build.that frame is just dead sexy.keeping my beady eyes on this tread.keen to see the end result.you must behaving a blast building it
  13. enter hill 2hill and hopefully you can win that specialiozed camber worth 22 grand bru!AND then you can spend the 8 grand you saved on upgrades to the bike.hey,i'm an optimist....
  14. fox flux.really comfortable and has extra protection down the back of your head.
  15. have had the topeak prep stand elite for a couple of months now and am really happy with it so far.it is sturdy, strong and light and folds away quite small.i find the carry bag it comes with quite handy when you need to transport it wherever you are going.my 2c
  16. i have a trek ex8.awesome bike with a lifetime warranty on the frame.giant as i know has five year warranty.either way if you get the trek or the giant you are getting a great bike.decisions decisions......
  17. i actually enjoy washing my bike after a ride, not all the time but most of the time.spent a fair amount of money on the mtb so like to look after it.my 2 cents

  20. maybe cos its raining again.well in durbs anyway
  21. try looking on crc.you can get hope pro2 hubs with whatever rims you want prebuilt.you can mix and match to get the build you want and then just order them, slap them on you bike ,ride and smile!think they were about R1750 per wheel last time i checked
  22. i bent my rear rim on a ride the one saturday, managed to straighten it well enough to carry one riding.the next sunday i had a big crash and hit a tree with my front wheel and bent, buckled and cracked my front rim(fell free to have a laugh,we did).crc was having a special sale on ztr olympic lightweights,so i got two new ones for my wife and i took her old bontrager dusters from her bike for me as they were what i had on originally and the ztr's would never have taken my weight.put new hubs on the rear wheels at the same time and am now smiling big time.love the noise!
  23. I have just fitted a new hope pro2 rear hub to my mtb and really enjoy the clicking from the pawls when i freewheel.who thunks it is a pain in the ass and who enjoys it?
