  3. I am looking to get a set of 29'er wheels for my bike - anyone bought from https://www.tokyowheel.com/ or have review of their products/service?
  4. i was just about to purchase bib shorts - a pair going at bikeinn for R1300 that a local bike store are selling for R3200.......I see this regarding import duties - really!? Cycling shorts (classified as clothing): 45% If I factor in the above DHL delivery charge of R800 it still comes in at R2685 which is R500 saving?
  5. Will this be a mud fest?
  6. Im from JHb - where can I test ride a pair of these?
  7. I consider Northern Farms my "home ground" - I probably ride there atleast twice a month - it is safe and family friendly and you can ride anywhere from 10km to 60km without repeating routes. As far as I am concerned it is as safe as anywhere else and then some
  8. right - so did this race... It was tough, the route was challenging without being crazy, you had to have your wits about on some of the descents but not crazy difficult. The climbs where tough and sandy as per the warning and it got hot towards the end of the race, was very happy to have the concrete descent towards the end - all in a great day out. Definitely in for next year!
  9. to those in the "know" - do you think this route will be faster or slower than last years route and if so by how much? assuming same conditions of course...
  10. in..where did the rest of u see your start groups?
  11. I had the scott spark 910 - so to me the bike feels the same, just a touch faster, lighter,stiffer...I am a fan of the remote lockout, I like being in control of that and am used to it. the bike is fast and very agile in technical stuff. the only problem with the bike is the rider :-)
  12. so I just bought this.. http://onyourleftcycles.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/scott-spark-900-premium-932x600.jpg
  13. I cannot comment on your current wheelset but I took a leap of faith on these based on my research - to put things in context the wheelset I had was the factory standard that came with the scott spark 910, a descent bike by humble accounts. I have ridden it like that for 2 years and decided I needed to change it up a bit and a wheelset upgrade was the best route. So I bought these and went for my 1st test ride on the weekend - super smooth and comfortable, and seemed to roll faster if that makes sense - I did not try race but did ride hard to get a feel for them...strava seemed to indicate that there was some performance gains aswell in terms of time on segments (couple of pb's). Are these worth the investment? - well on 1st assessment I would definitely say yes. should you spend more on a "better" set...well that's only something you can decide but in my books - the 8K I spent was well worth it and confirmed all the research I had done on these.
  14. I consider NF my home course so to speak - I wont call it too technical but you do need some skill for some of the sections, none are particularly life threatening so to speak but you do need to be able to handle the bike. I also don't think they will take the race through all the sections I am referring to so it should be fine.
  15. So just bought these and am happy - currently running Vittoria Saguaro 29 2.2 on the front and the Vittoria Peyote 2.1 on the back - any thoughts on this combination?
  16. apologies mine are 29er - pic was grabbed quickly, should've checked...amature mistake lol
  17. Bought these from Evobikes on Wednesday and received today - great Service from Janos
  18. SO I just bought these and have had them dropped off at my work 15minutes ago....too much of excitedness :-) now I need to figure out what tyres to run....any advice is welcome - pic should be for 29'er http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/ACSmokingGun2016-1.jpg
  19. There is Polar website you upload to...www.polarpersonaltrainer.com Google should give you the correct one if its typed wrong
  20. I have just sold a wheelset as of yesterday - so from a "selling" perspective I try to give a good price so that I don't have the constant back and forth....but this still happens from guys trying to get their bang for their buck....you get serious run around at times - I had interest from 4 legit hubbers and I play open cards...saying that there are people looking at the item and it really is 1st come 1st serve.
  21. hahaha - awesome :-)
  22. 100% right - in the group I was in...a single rider without looking started to move back into the road as we (cyclelab group) where approaching, this is when the marshal shouted out...this rider took exception to the fact that we made our presence known as we rode past. He honestly did not look and shouted back at us that we don't own the road etc?
  23. really is that what I said?
  24. Perhaps relay where this happened in the cradle - I rode with cycle lab group on Saturday and there was a shout out to a cyclist on our ride by the marshal, but there certainly was no pushing or the likes, and to be fair I am of the opinion the marshal did the right thing because yes, a big group going down can be very dangerous indeed!
  25. I don't think there are many professional sportsman across all codes and disciplines that are not guilty of doping at some stage...that's unfortunately a reality. How Kevin Evans was able to race with David George when he was doping ment he was either doping himself or was a superior athlete....the former has materialised.
