  1. I’m not ‘defending the oke’, actually read what I said.
  2. It’s a screen grab of an Insta story, lasts a whole 24 hours. While it’s not cool, it’s also really not worth the projection, but people will revel in using it, as we see here already.
  3. Not great, despite the bad day. Even though it’s not the worst from a rider by far. But someone in the team should take the kid to one side and have a talk. Would also expect any administration involved in the sport to take it up directly without any petty motives. We know already the some folk lack the wherewithal to be an adult and will use forums to stick a knife in.
  4. Also take a look at what’s on offer from Magene, T500 model has all the features and then some. Solid support network and local backing as well.
  5. They don't as Pinarello are moving to Q363, one of the backers (Glassenberg) is also a partner/owner in Pinarello. Wouldn't be surprised if Ineos move to Scott, unless they reach a purchase agreement of sorts with Pinarello.
  6. Reallt depends on the kind of riding you want to do, although MTB dropbar conversions can tend to be a bit too long. Older hardtails are generally perfect if you're really looking for tyre clearance. For me, 42-45mm is the sweet spot on and off road. But again, it is a nuanced spectrum depending on the kind of riding you're looking at. My current gravel bike has relatively limited clearance and rim width, with max 47-50mm up front and 42-44mm rear, but the geometry is spot on. I've been giving it gas on a few MTB trails and keeping up with few problems. Even claimed a few segments. Been running 42mm wide tyres on average. I would personally consider tyre liners though.
  7. For the most part imo, bad road behaviour transfers from our attitude behind the wheel.
  8. So basically a screaming match between two unhinged parties is how it would look to any bystander?
  9. Really? I live in the area and solo ride/run frequently in the Parks etc … as do many others. Safely. @Oldtimerza if you’re looking for groups there’s a few in the area. Linden Cycles have a social Friday ride and Dunkeld also may have similar options.
  10. That section is incredibly high risk in both directions for all users, largely due to the excessive speeding from people driving. Many of whom are aggressive drivers. I’ve had a couple of close calls just leaving/arriving at the Cradle Moon/Conservancy entrance. This includes you mr black X5 tailgating and overtaking at speed to arrive Valverde.
  11. They’re great. Ticks all the boxes and they’re really well priced with a range of tread/width options. They’re a manufacturer for a number of brands and their brand has been races on for years on the World Cup circuit. In particular Bart Brentjens’s team. Good enough Olympics, World Champs, Cape Epics, World Cups
  12. People have stuff to do on a weekend 😉 …. Are you banking with ABSA? Then the first port of call would be with your banker or closest branch manager. Or the race office itself -021 426 4373/ registration@cape-epic.com
  13. smaller? lighter? ... I have a Fenix 5 and tbh I'm completely happy with it still.
  14. Still a fkn hard fall, also means dressing changes each day and impact on sleep. These all have a cumulative effect.
  15. Anyone do the Wings For Life World Run over the weekend? What an incredible experience and concept, definitely in for next year again.
  16. It was an April fools joke. But sometimes some people stick with the fool part, by default or design.
  17. No issues thus far, but could be a different story on different rims. Swopping our soon, so will have a better idea.
  18. Rode one from a local white label supplier brand. Didn't even have to pedal, thumb throttle could easily take you up to 50kmh + on a flatish road. A horrible camo wrapped full suspension fat bike, no name suspension with inverted forks, weird disc brakes and apparently, a name brand motor which had no branding. No indication of suspension setup and stock standard it was horrific, especially the fork which made a massive clunk sound over anything remotely like a bump. Literally a death trap! The thing was/is a literal death trap!
  19. It was a good move when Kargo Pro MTB stepped up. They were there for Alan Hatherly and a couple of others. It's a pity it couldn't get the support to keep the momentum.
  20. Busy testing up a set of Challenge tyres, underrated and very low-key brand. Pleasantly surprised thus far.
  21. Northern Farms used to be a thing. Then Thaba and van Gaalen, there was a bit of sniping because the two were so close. I think Thaba still has theirs and van Gaalen. Taroko Trails/Trailwolf have also been talking the possibility of one.
  22. Not unreasonable, at some point it needs to fall into a moped category. Many markets have different categories of ebike, for good reason. If you can stick an average speed in excess of 45kmh on public roads, pedal assist or no, then it’s by logic no longer a bicycle. I remember one local brand guy bragging about their product offering being chipped upto 60km “you better gtf out the way” If anything the ‘E-bike community’ should welcome something like this. The article is a bit thin on the finer details of the amendment though. Also as good as the legislation may or not be, enforcement is another matter entirely.
  23. Guys, take a breather. Not everyone will encounter the same scenario and perspectives will differ. At the end of the day, it comes down to the individual's prerogative.
  24. Is it a sign of anything, though, or rather a basic observation? There would be a number of circumstances/data to consider. Swiss Epic is slightly more low-key than the Cape Epic, which is still the crown event. If you feel like going outside that hotel/village bubble (which many do), then the expensive part hits home quickly, especially if you're coming from an emerging currency like Randelas. At Cape Epic at least you have the option of an upgrade tent, camper village or sorting out offsite accommodation for a pretty good rate comparatively. Quite a few overseas riders opt for the tent upgrade for various reasons. Interestingly, since Cape Epic introduced the new tents and mattresses, they've seen an uptick in people using them.
  25. There were a few around at Epic, as well as on Trippers there was someone riding with the new wireless Fox dropper. Quite like the fact that Epic is fast becoming a showground for new equipment and testing. Saw some shiny new XTR teasers. Also a few teams were running new bits and bobs, especially the SRAM dropper and Motive brakes. It was a bit of a laugh when one of the team support staff (not Specialized) was all authoritative like with us taking pics of one bike's components "ja that's under embargo hey, bla bla bla" ... yes at one of the world's most media saturated public events chum, ok thanks>
