  1. I did watch it, and I enjoyed it. I also didn’t say the doc was about him getting his way in life. At all.
  2. Netflix produce entertainment doc more than anything, not objective story telling. Unchained showed that. Objectively, Cavendish is a personality, and in any team that can create conflict, particularly if coming up against strong personalities. It can quickly become toxic. Personally, I feel Cavendish is relatively complex and wants everything to revolve around him and when it doesn’t and things don’t go his way. It’s always someone else’s fault and/or he’s a victim. I’d imagine working with him is a nightmare for most teams. The flip side though, absolutely fire when everything goes right and definitely one of the sport’s greatest athletes.
  3. Couldn’t be bothered two ways about sanctioning really.
  4. There’s no mention of of what is or isn’t available. Why not contact them? There’s a few sponsors there and the site looks legit.
  5. Completely agree. Wasn't a dig at you, more a general comment on the self depreciation remark separately, I should have been clear.
  6. Self depreciation is almost a Saffa speciality, particularly abroad sometimes. Anyway, that really is encouraging news on the Bellville Velodrome, hope this helps with motivation for Hectors Norris in Gauteng.
  7. Yeah it’s actually becoming ridiculous now. Must be more to it than simple neglect, apparently that road goes through a few private properties. I know for a fact that it accesses at least one large tract.
  8. Yes if hosting individual discipline events, but not on smaller groupings. For example it’s easier and more cost effective to provide quality cover and hosting on say XCO, XCM, XCC, Enduro, DHI as a grouping of MTB. Also creates less strain on accommodating inbound operations, broadcast/general media. Large scale events almost always cost more.
  9. Imagine three titles in a single Worlds season! Allez allez laddy …..
  10. Deffo. Hopefully it comes down to that and we can enjoy a multi discipline event. Personally feel in the greater scheme of world champs it would be more beneficial for hosts to stage smaller groupings of related disciplines.
  11. Jip, it’s all academic hey. But objectively the original post on Karkloof was in a general reference, not this time round.
  12. GT100 miler and 60km from Cafe du Cirques… total fun and well organised. Ice cream finisher medals, win. 🙌
  13. World Cups yes and for MTB. Which I love. But for World Champs imho I think having every cycling discipline will actually limit the coverage amount and quality. 2025 is Road Cycling World Champs in Rwanda. Not sure wether or not it’s feasible hosting every single cycling discipline across the board. In any case, will be frothing to see another world cycling event on our shores. 😃
  14. No doubt, although better is subjective. Fortunately we’re not short of venues and route in many parts of SA to host races.
  15. That’s if UCI maintains the format of hosting. By 2028 it will likely split around discipline clusters, rather than an all in format.
  16. Never say never. Exceptional riding around there and to date one of the best SA XCM events.
  17. PMB hosted both an Elite and Masters World Marathon champs a few years back. SA has a good track record of hosting World Cup and World Championship events.
  18. Also wondered about this and actually asked the MD of one of the larger events. Apparently all the factors involved would make the risk profile too high for most reputable insurers to underwrite. Plus if it were to be available the cost increase would prove prohibitive. It’s not so much the entry fee cost, which is often nominal compared to all the ancillary costs such as travel, accommodation etc… the process to cover/claim on that would be a bureaucratic nightmare.
  19. How many fkn sweeties and pies are you oinking out on at the Engen!?
  20. Solid post Shebs… 🤌🫡 One or two FB ‘personalities’ that could take a few pages from your book.
  21. So mooi it’s Mooist!
  22. What kind of MTB? Might also be worthwhile posting on the Pretoria East FB group - PEMBI BM has been mentioned, although I think they only cater to events and/or groups now. Also try these guys - https://www.hartbeespoortbicyclehire.co.za Cycle Lab may be an option as well. Some bike parks have lower mid range hardtails to rent on their trails. Taroko/Modderfontein, Bryanston Bike Park, Rosemary Hills? etc
  23. We were actually really fortunate with the wind. In fact all round the weather and pitch conditions were as good as could be. Bit Ja, catch the wind wrong and it’s a long day out that side, flat and nowhere to hide.
  24. Apologies in advance for the gratuitous image dump 🙈 But such a memorable gravel mission around the canals around Northwest/Harties yesterday, amazing network of water canals introduced around a century ago. Still in full use today among the various produce farms. Lekker crew and a righteous christening for the new steed.
  25. Totally irrelevant. Have not seen any such notice. And what is your connection here?
