  1. This touches on a problematic trend in school sports. Teenagers generally don't need coaches at all in that scenario, performance wise. They just need to be teenagers and figure life out, albeit with some guidance, which is the role a coach can perform at that level. Kids on power meters, nutrition programmes and what not, perfect recipe for burnout. It's almost abusive what some parents and schools choose to do in order to push the kids to perform.
  2. I don't think it's created it, it certainly does feed it though. At some point people need to also take responsibility for their own appetite. But yeah, people have developed this ugly sense of entitlement and demand from people, particularly disturbing is when someone passes and people actually think it's ok to insist on knowing "what happened" As far as athletes and teams/brands go, they do also often miss the mark on how to use the platforms available for communication. It's seen as an overhead and chore. Probably because there's a misunderstanding of what it takes to communicate and tell a story. Instagram is a good example, and if people need a prime guideline look no further in how National Geographic use social platforms.
  3. That'd be interesting, possibly restrictive for host nations with that kind of cross section of disciplines. I like the format that was piloted in SA a few years back with MTB Worlds. Masters event a week or two before the Elites under the same umbrella.
  4. Bontrager XR3 2.3 One of the best all rounder tyres I've ridden thus far.
  5. Vitorria Barzo. Say no more. Have consistently had more issues with these tyres more than any other, really not a fan. No doubt that an inadequate sealant will compound the issue. Best option, as mentioned already, patch the tyre inside. Give it a really good clean from residual sealant, clean lightly with acetone/thinners round the hole area and lightly buff the casing with rough sand paper. Apply glue to both the patch and tyre casing, once tacky clamp together for approx five minutes or so. I just inflate a tube with the tyre mounted, works just as well as clamping.
  6. Oooh, shady stuff this!
  7. Why? Still so much to chip! ....
  8. DO TOO!!
  9. Wes, I think it's clear you weren't calling anyone anything and you explained it well enough. All the best with the event, it looks to be an amazing experience along somewhere different. Hope to tick this one off soon!
  10. Hence DPA, so that there is an objective application of a rule in the moment. Especially in an event of this nature, which lets face it, the knowledge base and experience lies with the organiser/RD and well outside the interpretations of CSA/UCI. Kind of like trail running and ASA.
  11. So what, it's on the landing page along with other info. Just one click, literally. And if anything it gives the guy's website a bit of traffic, which also helps.
  12. Another vote for iRide, Daniel and co are super cool! www.irideafrica.com
  13. Cautiously optimistic, based on the current increase in vaccination rate and the fourth wave modelling figures released via DoH/Gauteng. Preliminary estimates indicate _+ 4k hospitalisation rate, compared to 9.5k during the third wave. Despite the ramp in numbers, early indications are that the symptoms are generally mild for most. Encouraging news at least.
  14. Awh ... still a killer ride to the finish!
  15. Awh ... still a killer ride to the finish!
  16. Saw on the tracker there was an ambulance and two other riders with him. Sorry to hear.
  17. Truth. 45 seconds off at one of the mini Munga rides once. Derp!
  18. Also not withstanding he practically cooked himself the next year. Would so like to see him compete again next year with the rest of the field, along with Marco Martins, Lachlon Morton and a couple others.
  19. Oh ok, looking at the frame it looks like the 2020 mode with gloss on top and matt finish below. The 2019 models hard weird gloss on matt pixel graphics. Mate is the designer and I used to retail Titan. They do retain their value, likely due to a comparatively low retail pricing. 2019 Elite retailed +_ 22 - Pro 30 2020 Elite @ 26-28 and Pro 36+ as it was specced with carbon wheels as well as the Ultegra 2021 has seen equipment spec upgraded on both models.
  20. This is the 2020 model, not 2019? They were retailing then at the high end at 30k, although some shops were doing them at 26-28K Realistically you could get away with an easy 20k, maybe 24k if you sit for a while. Heres a baseline for you, although some of these such as the comp are priced very much on the high side. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/c/gravel-and-cyclocross-bikes?s=Titan+Switch
  21. Take it slow, take your time. Need to give it a few months. Better yet, consult with a GP on this. Yours is not the only case and a medical professional will be able to provide a far more grounded solution than any Internet forum. Even if you get a second/third etc ... opinion
  22. Think it also needs to be considered that as an ultra endurance event, this is a highly specialist discipline. Even with the prize money available, it could prove too disruptive for an athlete focusing on the long term goals outside of ultra endurance. How many other opportunities are there through a season to claim such a prize purse. Almost none.
  23. Something about this goes against the grain...
  24. You sound triggered chap. Calm down, have a drink.
  25. Westpeak, RH77, Vye, Ciovita and Enjoy all seem to have decent cuts that aren't an overly baggy fit. Likewise POC, albeit slightly long. This is to accommodate knee padding though and doesn't catch on them at the cuffs. Currently riding with the Assos Rally shorts, they aren't cheap but last a lifetime. A good few years and thousands of km later, they're still as good as the day I got them.
