  1. Because they won't have the margin for a decent GP. Landed cost would not be that competitive at all against the established brands here. Especially against the likes of Silverback and Titan who have surpassed value for money into performance as well. Besides, we have a glut of bike brands in this country compared to most European countries.
  2. Saturdays only?
  3. Congrats, sortine one out for myself as well. Been super impressed with their entire range. Especially keen on the prototype full suss models they're working on. Team Valley Electrical have been racing on the pre-production prototypes with great success. I do have a business interest with Cytec who do Titan and Merida, but I wouldn't associate with the bikes if I didn't believe in what they're doing. Plus I know the designer who was originally with Pyga/cSixx. Knows his tomatos from his tomatoes. For me currently though I'm set on a black Switch with a wheel and groupset upgrade! Daddy need new bike day
  4. Much of what you say is true. However at best it is a case of correlation to a degree. Not causation. Deal with the causation and the support shall be forthcoming. As it stands the interpretation and implimentation of the 'forbidden race rule' is problematic and counter productive.
  5. Have a chat to Dana Coetzer, he 'groaded' his Trek Top Fuel. Flared drop bars and gravel wheels/tyres. Looked quite sharp.
  6. Much appreciated. Sad situation, imho dissolving regional structures into a provincial body would solve many of the issues and lighten up the inane amount of red tape. Easier said than done I know.
  7. Links?
  8. Bean trying out the coffee shop inside Mega Mica next to Eastgate lately, mainly because I have access to a hotdesk there and am in Bedfordview a few times a week. But the coffee is pretty damn good and the food menu is well priced. Almost cheep cheep like a budgie.
  9. Do like Momsen, small local brand with a designer who hold's their own in the industry. Locally and abroad. Shown some balls with development too. Along with Pyga one of those guys we can be rightly proud of for scaling their brands and setting the path for others. There's a few local guys who do some real industrial design/brand managament. Anyway, on locally available HT trail bikes (as in no need to order in) there is also Cotic, Giant(?) GT, etc etc and drum roll ... Mercer Bikes in Cape Town
  10. Not sure it applies to impersonation of a police officer or jail time. It is however definately illegal to threaten someone with police action, using false information or not. In fact it does leave it open for the OP to lay charges/open a civil case. The other problem now is that this could create liability issues for Admin as well, should legal action be pursued.
  11. Just wrap your bike in foil. Not like it hasn't been done before.
  12. You know when someone starts off at "With respect... " it's a subtle gfy
  13. Nice tyre profile and tread pattern. Probably close the best setup for multi use on and off road as an all rounder. Definately more on the chunky side in the weight game though! But at the price, hey.
  14. Looks like this was before 06:30
  15. Good thing I shot this photo, considering that ramp is no longer there
  16. Check with your LBS, more than likely they can convert the axle for you.
  17. Without reading the whole thread. In an ideal world a lightweight trail bike, something along the lines of the new Camber, Pyga Stage Max or a Merida 120 etc .... Something along the lines of a progressive geometry with 120mm rear and 130mm up front. Currently on a Yeti ASR with 100mm rear and 120mm up front with 2.3 Bontrager XR3 tyres. Rowdy playful I call it.
  18. Also noticed this. Had a 'moment' some months back on the highway. Changed lanes and then a taxi came into my lane and all I could was lean up against the thing to not be taken out. At over 100kmh on the highway. Nothing happened, but that put a huge mental block in my riding. Big part of the reasoning for me selling the bike now.
  19. Group of us rode out there again yesterday. Every ride there reminds us of what a beautiful area it is and how fortunate we to have such a gem! Not many places in the world where you can access such a loop.
  20. Putting up my much loved Transalp for sale. Kitted with a few extras like bash guards, center stand and Includes a few spares such as helmet, luggage, spare sprocket for rear. PM me.
  21. Insurance and evidence in case of an altercation with a driver. I've noticed that Volcano also make a dash cam.
  22. For sure, we discussed this briefly on WhatsApp. I recall you used the words "ass" and "hosepipe" Just find it disconcerting that there are experienced and/or medically qualified people punting this and seemingly without any real guidance, qualified use or requiring the input from someone's GP. Ethically questionable. Jarad van Zuydam has given it some good critique.
  23. On the topic of doping, I hope SAIDS starts to shine a light on all these miracle drip treatments.
  24. Search doping on the forum search. All your questions will be answered.
  25. FYI Shall be putting up a 2010 Honda Transalp 700 for sale soon. 58k and includes some extras. Will post pics.
