  1. I have all the episodes downloaded onto my Iphone....and they make for very interesting watching. Highly recommended.
  2. Rudy Project make great glasses. The fact that they don't shatter is cool, and during a hard crash on a rocky section of downhill this could prove to be a very valuable feature...but something about these lenses that hasn't really been pointed out on this thread, is how dramatically they adapt to light conditions. I have posted these pics before, but check these before and after pics of my Exowinds with photochromic clear lenses out....with literally 30 seconds of sun exposure between shots:
  3. Sweet.... thanks a lot for that one.
  4. This hasn't been mentioned yet...because i assume it got sorted out quickly...but in the 60km race after about 10k i was chasing the lead pack like crazy, and just couldn't get closer than 200m, when i turned a corner and saw them all standing there lifting their bike over a gate and then jumping over themselves.... Fritz was standing by on the phone obviously trying to get this gate opened asap. It was a relief to me as it allowed me to get back in touch, but i'm sure the others were frustrated... but again, it seems the gate got opened, as i can only imagine the queue if everyone had to climb over. Fritz...your efforts are appreciated, and the track was really good and well marked.Good luck with the next race
  5. I actually enjoyed the race, and thought the organization was quite good. I really enjoyed the singletrack next to the river and the section through the forest, but yes...i had to race until i could hardly breathe anymore to get into that position in the field. I think those that had to stand in a queue and walk the singletrack got cheated, because it really was sweet...and this needs to be addressed...and i think the best way, like Jules said, is to get the field spread out in the first 10km's on wider more open roads. The vibe at the finish was cool... lots to eat and drink, another entertaining trails show by Dylan Victor, and a not-very-well attended prize giving and lucky draw where i won a R500 Makro gift card )
  6. I was there this morning, and i must say the DJ course is starting to take very nice shape indeed....even the drop-in bridge is pretty much done. You won't find me near the jumps though....but it looks like you guys gonna have some serious fun.
  7. I use the Hutchinson Fusion 2 road tubeless tyres, without tubes on my Dura Ace 7850 wheels with a little sealant inside.....and i love them. It has been about 2 months now, and no punctures and hardly even any loss of pressure at all. I run them a little softer than i would a normal setup and the grip etc is awesome.
  8. Forget about the 29er, what about the caravan?
  9. Cycle Lab is a great club. very organized club rides, both road and mtb. Very good communication with members re. social events and informative talks. Unsurpassed hospitality at all the major races. Despite what many may think, the members are actually very friendly and there is a great vibe between everyone during and especially post-ride at the coffee shop.
  10. The Lion man is a tough race. Lots of soft sand, lots of rocks...a fair bit of twisty singletrack through the bush, quite a bit of fast dirt road riding, even a very welcome bit of tar at the end....and THAT climb. Jeez....it was my 3rd time doing the race, and i am still surprised at how tough that climb is. No rythm with all those rocks, and then the bloody steep gradient as well. Phew. I had a good ride though, hanging onto the leaders for about 7km's to get free and clear of the masses behind, and then settled into a good rhythm, riding the rest mostly by myself as well as a few sections pacing with 2 others... Came in around 3:22 just inside the top 10. That free beer at the finish was a great touch. Yopu won't see that happening at a road race Also, the Grolsch promotion of buy one get one free was a winner too! I'll definitely be back.
  11. Weren't you trying to sell this a few weeks ago?
  12. Thanks Thug. Yip, 32*16. Was very happy with it this weekend. Had a few peeps suggest to go with a ratio a bit harder like 34*16 etc, but I'm not too sure I will handle any kind of remotely technical uphill with it. What's the general consensus here regarding ratios for MTB?
  13. Done, HR.
  14. My Singlespeed! I picked up the Marin frame for a steal, and immediately decided to build it up with the stuff that slowly but surely had been replaced on my 'real' bike. I love it. 32*16.
  15. Me too!! I am part of your 'gang' now I picked up a great deal on this Marin palisades trail frame, then built it up from stuff off my old frame. You purists might ask what's up with the suspension up front, but trust me, that fork is so poked it is very nearly a rigid I did 120km's on it this weekend, and absolutely loved it!!!! 16. Morningside cycles!! Can't be more than a few minutes away from you, and a great shop run by great guys.
  17. You just cannot go wrong with the Rydon with Photochromic Clear lenses.... especially going ito winter now. You'll be hard pressed to find a more versatile pair of cycling shades.
  18. Excellent pics. Thanks Ronelle. Can't wait to see all the rest.
  19. Shamus is a great agent and ambassador for the CrankBros brand. I have had nothing but unbelievable service, and I love thier products. Keep it up Shamus.
  20. Whoo-hoo. Just bought a frame this morning that is gonna be built up to be my single-speed! Can't wait!
  21. Sigma Karma is a good, small light....but the price has jumped from like R1.6k to R2.3 or something. I bought a Light and Motion Stella 200 from CRC, and have used it this last week, and I am very happy with it. Cost just under R2k.
  22. Just to clarify...the Energy Dynamics products are all now PVM branded, and many of them have been reformulated. The Octane energy drink now has 10% protein peptides, the Ignite recovery drink is now ReIgnite, and the Protein Blast is now Protein XTR. I still see the products everywhere, so weird that some of you battle. They are a great company, with great products.
  23. Great stuff. I agree, the park was a great initiative...and caters for almost all levels. I love putting in a hard 45minutes there, covering all the trails once, then faster the second time.
  24. I am with you...in fact, i started a thead on it too, same time as you. This is insanity!!!! Why the hell would someone do this?
  25. Cool Jules. I placed my first CRC order on Monday. Looking forward to hitting the post office. On that note...how long does it generally take for your stuff to get here?
