  1. Patchepedia. Nice analysis
  2. Especially for biggish guys who put a decent amount of power down to get up hills.
  3. Did you pick up my new Tracer? I'm sure I left it there...
  4. Rouxtjie is always helpful. Edit: sorry, I don't hav any 29" wheels.
  5. Thanks. I think My SS has 140mm of Fox Vanilla at the front which cost much less than that
  6. Only read Tread mag.
  7. I don't even want to know the price of that.
  8. It's a bit nerve wrecking the first time. You just have to realise that you need to sit properly upright to keep the bike stable. In fact it is much more stable than holding onto the bars.
  9. Nicely said. I have a couple of times now been PMed by guys with very few posts, not regarding anything for sale but about my mtb skills clinics. After meeting them have found out that they are 'captains of industry'.
  10. I don't worry too much about post count but won't deal with anyone who has 0 posts. I like to see some sort of contribution which I can scan through to determine seller/buyers character. The other thing I do is get the dude on the phone asap. If that turns out to be a mission at all I steer clear, whether buying or selling. Chatting to someone instead of endless texting/pms usually resolves all kinds of issues like "dibs". Also easier to recognise genuine traders. Btw, watch this space, well the classifieds, as I'm going to be selling quite a bit of stuff soon.
  11. The main thing to look at when sizing a bike is the effective (horizontal) top tube measurement. Not all mediums, larges etc are the same across all bike frame manufacturers. Work out what reach suits you (including your preferred stem length) and check geometry specs when you looking at a new bike.
  12. Funny enough we have always ended up with the same trail bikes at the same time. Usually because of a deal we could not pass up. The other bikes in the garage are all different. Patrick tuned the shock for a light rider for my wife before it left the factory. But will check and make sure it's working properly and perhaps even service it with a lighter weight oil in future. Thanks.

  14. Usually if you haven't go a SS specific frame: A single speed spacer kit. Otherwise those plastic spacers out of an old cassette. The kit sometimes includes a couple of single gear cogs. A chain tensioner of some sort. You can convert an old derailleur to do the job. Shorter chainring bolts. An eight speed chain. Or even a half link chain if you have the budget.
  15. Just realised I posted it elsewhere already. Frame is going to be raw. Wheels have been built. Silver Spank Oozy with gunmetal Hope hubs, gunmetal nipples. http://photos-a.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xpa1/10326574_783240421696352_376179997_n.jpg
  16. Oh, and when you do ride off the rollers, the bike stops dead, it doesnt accelerate into the tv. So be ready to uncleat rapidly.
  17. I'm also going from an Intense 5.5 to a Pyga. But it's the Pascoe. Currently waiting for the large frame to arrive. Pat said its the last one in the countryt The wife's Pascoe has an interim build on it while she waits for bits and pieces. Not sure if I should post?
  18. Eish. I taught a mother of 2 to ride last year. She had a huge fear of riding having never learnt as a kid but she had great determination which is what made the difference eventually. Much like adults who never learnt to swim.
  19. I have a small 26" single speed you can loan. Wife and daughter tend to share it so it's currently set up slightly more towards medium. But easy to adjust. And it has flat pedals on it at the moment.
  20. Perhaps it's just a bit more practise on the rollers until you are comfortable pushing hard? When I used to train on the road bike a lot I would do intervals on the rollers. Usually in the biggest gear spinning the cranks at about 170rpm. (I could get to 195rpm on the road). The only issue I had was that under really hard seated sprinting at such high cadence the bike would bounce slightly and cause the rollers to slowly crab walk across the floor - backwards and to my right about 30cm every minute. This was resolved to a degree by the use of a large rubber mat and eventually securing one of the legs. I have had more issues with the A-frame than rollers during high intensity workouts. The main one being that the rear tyre (IDT specific) would continuously slip on the gel roller. This caused a pungent rubber burning smell which apparently the wife didn't appreciate in the lounge.
  21. I upload everything even those skills sessions where I do 5kms in 2 hours, just so that I can keep a record and keep track. I just make them all private.
  22. Damn, I would have gone for that deal. Good luck with the build. Let me know if there's anything else you need. Brakes, wheels etc.
  23. Yip. Hijacked the brand a couple of weeks ago. Just like ASG did with FSA.
  24. Eish, doesn't sound attractive at all Johan. Hope it is something that will fade... I was horrified at all the pink spray paint on the sandstone at our Swampdogs trails for Farmasutra Single Speed event. But just a few months later it had all completely disappeared.
