  1. Don't know to be honest. I just don't feel comfortable putting anything in a fork that I spend R20k on.
  2. Fork serviced. Problem solved. The fork was practically dry inside after 55 hours and the oil that was in there was thick and dark. Foam rings at the top were brown and dry. 15 minutes well spent.
  3. Might be worth looking at the Sunrace 11-51 cassette instead then. Save money with not needing a new freehub.
  4. Interesting one. According to https://www.sram.com/globalassets/document-hierarchy/service-manuals/rockshox/front-suspension/gen.0000000005952-2020-fs-oil-air-coil-token-specification-english-rev-a.pdf I need to use the Dynamic Seal Grease in the Pike Ultimate. The Reba for example requires SRAM butter. Lyrik, SID, Pike, and Yari uses Dynamic Seal Grease. Now I have both and the dynamic grease feels a lot thicker than the butter which is interesting. Just an interesting observation, the tub says "for rear shock service" on it. I'm following the Rockshox instructions 100% so it makes no difference to me. Why the difference?
  5. Get the Lyne wheels and order them with the correct freehub. Problem solved. Great wheels too.
  6. I believe those wheels to be from a Trek. May be a DT240 or proprietary body. A Trek dealer should be able to help. Their concept store is in Melrose Arch Jhb and I think Dunkeld Cycles is one as well.
  7. Kudos to you. I can’t even commit to a brand of toothpaste let alone learning to jump.
  8. The hub should have a brand name on it. Alternatively look at what brand of rim it is. Sometimes a wheel set can help to identify it.
  9. I miss mine. Perfect set & forget machine. My Rancilio is still & hit and a miss at best of times.
  10. Made from the tears of 30 disappointed virgins.
  11. Thanks. The coaches know best I guess.
  12. Forgot to add. My weekly TSS is between 500 and 600. FTP is at 194w and increasing by around 10w per month.
  13. Continuing the Sufferfest and it is really working well. Some sessions seem to have reduced NP, AC, and MAP as part of the workout while focussing 100% on FTP. At times I do however find it too easy. Did "Do as you're told" last night and a few minutes in I ramped everything to 100%. I don't even have remotely dull or sore legs to today. I do sweat quite a bit and my legs can feel the changes in power but I can easily keep up. I do a 4DP test every two weeks and my stats do improve. Should I just suck it up and accept it or boost everything to 100%?
  14. Personal experience with Sunrace will make me drink Jik before installing that garbage on another bike. Very expensive mistake. Less than 900km and the cassette is junk.
  15. Hi Bob. Nice to meet you. I’m also Bob.
  16. But do the brakes first ????
  17. I’m 100% sure the bushings are fine dude. The fork is smooth. The issue was also only on early model Pikes. Not on the 2020 models.
  18. Lekker. Will see how it goes after the service. I remember my Lyrik feeling like this after not servicing it for about 4 years while the bike was hardly used. After the service it was like butter. I remember reading that most forks are not filled correctly from the factory which can cause issues.
  19. Apart from that it also looks like it could spread butter on toast.
  20. Definitely not a stiff bushing issue. It’s a setup issue. Deflated the fork and it’s smooth throughout the compression and rebound stroke.
  21. Pad spreader for disc brakes. Handy for pushing pads in place and resetting pistons.
  22. Settings are from wide open. I’ll try the service first and if that doesn’t work out ill consider the bushing fix. Worried about warranty if someone fiddles with it.
  23. I really thought I had this dialed in. Fork: 2 Clicks HSC 1 Click LSC 6 Click Rebound No tokens installed. Set to 25% sag Shock 50% Rebound 3 clicks LSC Set to 30% sag Fork is the 2020 Pike Ultimate RC2 2.1 Charger Damper Shock is 2018 Super Deluxe The problem I'm experiencing is the bike starts feeling like wood when the terrain gets fast and rough. Imagine braking bumps on a long strip or the two fast twisty downhills in the cradle. A trail like Red Barn that is mostly flat with jumps and smooth berms is perfect since you don't need small and medium bump compliance. Both fork and shock is set 100% in terms of sag but I'm not using the full travel on the fork, even on bigger hits. 50h service is coming up for the fork soon.
  24. Bought local from Bikemob and Evobikes. Importing slaps you hard with a pap snoek on import fees. Made that mistake with my torque wrenches and sockets & bits.
  25. I love tools from that blue company.
