  1. What about upsweep, backsweep and rise on MTB bars? Width isn't everything.
  2. Crud. I was hoping to get them locally. Thanks for the feedback.
  3. Speaking of rims. Im thinking of getting a little lighter on the wheel side of the Morewood. WTB i-25 or ZTR Flow EX? Im leaning to the I-25 as Ill be saving around 150g per wheel and they are pretty well priced.
  4. Yep. That thing was lethal if you didn't know what you were doing. Caught me once but I didn't go down luckily.
  5. Dammit I need to get back on the bike soon!!! Anybody have pics of this?
  6. That lip should not be there to be honest. The idea of building jumps etc was always to be off the main trail. Look at the Bundaberg and Hurlingham lines. All off to the side of the main trail. There should never be an obstacle on the main parts of a public trail. Not one that is built anyways. Nobody should get hurt because something surprised them. That isn't cool at all.
  7. That technique will actually cause too much movement in your pelvis because your hips are dropping on each side. You can use the same technique but there should be a slight bend in the leg. Follow up by checking on an IDT to see if the hips drop when pedaling. Should be stable.
  8. Lock it on flat smooth roads like tar and gravel. You can lock it while riding. For climbing you can also lock it. Just remember to unlock before descending. Personally I don't lock my fork or rear shock ever. Pro-pedal is pretty damn good to eliminate pedal bob and over time you develop a fairly efficient pedal stroke anyways. Don't mash the pedals. Develop a smooth spin.
  9. End thread right there
  10. You did a very noble thing there. Sadly I only carry enough and specific spares for myself and my partner in crime when we are on training rides. I will stop and offer help. Spares however I can't help you with unless there are enough to go round. I can't risk getting stranded myself because I played the good guy role and handed out all my tubes. As a rider in any discipline you need to realise that mechanical preparation is as important as nutrition and fitness.
  11. They do make a lot more sense on DH or AM bikes. I think people get bored of editing when it is hour after hour of the same boring track in front of them.
  12. While you work on fitness can I suggest you get hold of Slick and do a few skill training rides with him. By the time you get the fitness up your skills will be quite polished too and you will have a great time on the bike.
  13. I always stop. If it is a lady on her own and capable of fixing the flat etc herself I still stayed with her until she was good to go again.
  14. Good time to get a Birzman.
  15. Off the bikes but on my feet as per physio and doctors orders. Making great progress. Good to be able to make my own coffee again.
  16. Well I'm completely off any medication so new buzz is in order I think.
  17. Well yes. . after this beer I'll have a cup of coffee
  18. Check out CWC first before running to CRC or PBS etc online. Rand/$ is still utterly crap so the savings might not be worth it Also check out bikebay.co.za
  19. Having their Brazilian at the moment and it is fantastic. Well worth a visit.
  20. In terms of compression garments my understanding is they promote blood flow to the area and this helps the recovery process. Could be wrong. This is how it was explained to me after surgery last week. Foam rolling works wonders to help loosen muscles. Be very careful on your lower back. Also do as much core strengthening as you can. A weak and fatigued core will cause other muscles to work harder to support you on the bike. You want your legs to power the bike. Not support your lower back.
  21. Had to have a sequestrated L4/L5 disc fixed and L3/L4 and L5/S1 decompression done. I was smacking in corners and rocky sections. I know it's mostly technique related but I prefer the shorter cranks to be honest. I'll be back
  22. Not a lot has happened since the last post. New mounting hardware on it's way for the CCDB and the Hope Tech 3 V4 brakes went on. Also switched to 165mm Saint cranks. 175mm was just too long. Kept smacking pedals. Also changing rubber to Schwalbe Big Bettys and going tubeless. For now I'm recovering from spinal surgery so no riding for 3 months.
  23. You cried? I almost chewed off my ******* wrists :(
  24. If anybody is looking to go please let me know. My spot has just opened up for this trip due to unscheduled back surgery. PM me and we can get the ball rolling.
