  1. This sounds like an interesting story. I'll wait....
  2. O ja, I forgot to mention that...
  3. To a small island close to Auckland NZ called Waiheke. We started from the Ferry station and headed through the small town down the main road. After a good many hills and exquisite scenery We stopped for a quick snack in this small bay We were soon on our way again heading for our lunch stop in this bay The second half of our ride consisted of climbs, climbs and more climbs Before ending off a great ride with one (or maybe more) of these And jumping on the ferry and back home for more beer and pizza. Total distance covered for the 4 hrs of riding was 62 km with 1200m of vertical ascent. And i can't remember ONE flat road. It was either up or down. But what an experience and definitely the highlight of my trip.
  4. To never trust the weather report. Yesterday it said "0.1mm at around 15:00". No problem I thought, it'll be done before I leave for home at 16:30 and in any case I can handle 0.1mm! Well actually it was about 30mm (that's what it felt like) starting at 16:40. It's been a long time since I've been that wet on my bike. Still had fun tho
  5. Oops, sorry Although i thought, mayhem on a road bike??? never... Nice Alpina BTW, are we going to see you at Eroica? (had to type that very carefully)
  6. I thought that was you! DJR and I came past you at that exact spot.

    Who remembers?

We had a yellow one like that when i was at school. Nicknamed the yellow submarine, it went everywhere and carried everything from garden refuse to the dump, muddy soccer/rugby players home after the game and our family on our annual holiday to the Cape from Jozzie. It was the car i learnt to drive first and also the car i would "borrow" to visit my mates when the folks were out
  8. I need to do this with you again.
  9. Spill the beans! Which bike is that???
  10. I've always admired Colnago's from afar but never really felt the need to own one. The problem I seem to be developing is that whenever I see this thread pop up I have an overwhelming need to open it and drool over the latest (and i must admit I really like the old classics) of what Colnago is offering. It also doesn't help that my riding buddy can't seem to stop buying them and forcing me to stare at the damn things all through our rides together. I sense that i may be getting myself and "our" budget into trouble sometime in the future. Must not look....must be strong...resist.....damn it's pointless
  11. Luckily you were, so that you could do an awesome job fixing my tooth
  12. True that.
  13. I got around this problem on my commuter bike by attaching a pair of old plastic "clip on" type inserts onto my SPD pedals. not sure where i got them from but they solve the reflector problem with SPD 's. I simply clip in on the other side of the pedal. http://forums.mtbr.com/attachments/beginners-corner/857159d1387895166-clipped-pedals-100_7865-500x500.jpg
  14. Yip! Had those on my very first MTB in the mid 90's. Still got the bike, the tyres, long gone.
  15. I did the exact same thing, insisting on the free phone they had promised me but not the contract that went with it. Also talked in circles for a few minutes until finally THEY put the phone down on me - first and only time that's ever happened to me.
  16. You sure he's not having a seizure and trying to blow his hooter to call for help?
  17. Carry on luggage?? Blades and all??
  18. True that...
  19. Respray = Bogus. Find him here on the Hub. Forget stickers, BogusOne is the man.
  20. I've still got one...Just saying.
  21. This is such a great pic. Thanks for the report - brilliant as always, I think a small seed has been planted for next year...
  22. I have this exact thought every time i'm forced to veer off the cycle track to avoid a car parked in it. My only fear is that one day I act on this thought..
  23. Going to be interesting to see what their race suits look like.
  24. Yesterday my bike took me to an incredible breakfast thrown together at a moments notice by Mrs DJR for 6 very disappointed but always hungry cyclists. DJR, I know you have photographic evidence of this so please be so kind as to share.
  25. Or perhaps: There is no Port Left in the bottle... I would think the sailors among us would prefer saying this...
