  1. What about the ou wa pad onto Noordhoek Peak? You can add the Mast if you still have the legs.
  2. Anybody mention Enjoy fitness bibs? I just did the trans baviaans in my first pair of their bibs and the comfort blew me away! After a super uncomfortable attekwas in a different brand I was very concerned. But the comfort (lack of discomfort actually) of the enjoy bibs was a pleasant surprise. Made for a type 1 fun race!
  3. I'm also bleak about Batrun being cancelled. Can't understand their reasoning at all! Apparently too risky? In the 18 years the event has been held there hasn't been one incident. Puffer has had a couple of incidents with participants getting hurt. I didn't know this was being cancelled as well. If safety is their concern they should close Lion's Head. Or at least fix the path...
  4. Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I think I may rethink Friday's ride and start in noordhoek and ride mtb to tokai or something...
  5. Thanks for the reply! So turn left off M65 onto lighthouse Road or stay on M65 into kommetjie and avoid the right turn that goes behind ocean View? Out of interest, how is the main road out of kommetjie towards fish hoek?
  6. Hi all, Not my usual area, so I'm a bit unsure of the safety around the deep south. Planning on a circular route from kommetjie to Cape Point and back via misty cliffs. (M65) Any issues regarding safety along this route? Thanks!
  7. Some feedback, I have reported the sign to sanparks. I visited the office on Signal Hill and spoke to a ranger who I have met before. He was very helpful and said I should email the person responsible for signage. I have emailed and explained the situation. Hopefully sanparks take it seriously.
  8. If the epic single track on plum pudding is graded black, then the lions head downhill is already double black! It seems there are a couple of guys who agree that the sign is in a dangerous position. I'm going to contact sanparks and ask them to move it.
  9. Would you agree that it is a potential risk or am I overreacting? Here is a pic I downloaded. I can't ride trails at the moment due to a finger injury so jot able to get a better photo. You can't see the trail itself, but the pic does show how sharp the sign is.
  10. So SANPARKS have done a great job of adding and improving signage on Table Mountain. Unfortunately this includes a new sign on the trail around lion's head that could be dangerous if a rider crashes into it. Where the lion's head trail forks off from Pat's track is a difficult corner, especially for nervous or beginner riders. Sanparks have placed a particularly sharp sign in a pretty bad place that will cause a lot of damage if a rider botches this turn. If other riders feel the same way, I'm happy to contact Sanparks to discuss this with them. Alternatively, if someone from table Mountain bikers would like to investigate and follow up that's also cool.
  11. Spent last night on Table Mountain and woke up to this! Best thing is with left over ground coffee I got to use my brikka. Which doesn't go up the mountain, and doesn't get used nearly enough.
  12. Last time in the alps we used these tires. It was a climbing trip and not a biking trip though...
  13. Drop me pm if you'd like some assistance.
  14. Great, thanks for confirming that. Gonna use it from now on.
  15. Can citric acid be used in any machine? I have a a saeco bean to cup machine, I also have about 50kg of citric acid at any given time... I never knew it was possible to descale with citric acid! It makes life a lot easier if I can use it in my machine.
  16. Iron maiden, Cape Town 1995! My mate borrowed a jacket from me before the concert and got bust with a long forgotten joint when searched going in... Such great memories! Fortunately they only confiscated the spliff and let him in.
  17. Before you pull the plug on those, have a look at the mammut kento at mountain mail order. A bit less and great looking boots. Out of interest, why boots and not approach shoes or even trail runners?
  18. I got that on AliExpress for about 7 dollars. Have a look there.
  19. How about a ride/run option? Ride a lap, run a lap, ride a lap, run a lap!
  20. Fortunately not! Maybe trail runners, but looked like bike lights.
  21. I'm not soft by any means. I've headed up into the mountains many times in the foulest of weather. I know that there isn't bad weather, only bad gear. But hell, the guys riding up the block house this evening, that's on another level. Freezing cold, pouring with rain, strong wind! Legends or lunatics?
  22. Have you seen the price of trail shoes these days! At 9 months a pair you looking at almost R3500 per year!
  23. Anyone else used the Bialetti brikka pot? An interesting alternative for espresso.
