  1. Anyone else used the Bialetti brikka pot? An interesting alternative for espresso.
  2. Not that it makes this any more doable, but I think the quoted elevation change refers to up and down. So for elevation you could half the number to about 50000 feet.
  3. For a good balance between grip and rolling resistance you could also try aggressor 2.5 up front with aggressor 2.3 rear. I ended up with this combo by chance and am very happy with it. Previous combo was dhf 2.35 front and aggressor 2.3 rear. New combo os better in every way.
  4. Rapide or Lyne. I've had Rapide wheels and they are great. If i was looking to upgrade now though, id go Lyne components.
  5. And that's fine. Where it gets interesting is when one considers the parallels between me calling you out for chucking a banana peel and you calling someone out for chucking a gu sachet.
  6. Depends on your ethic. I was brought up on the 'leave only footprints and take only memories' ethic. In fact we had a debate about leaving eggshells recently. My old man reckoned that the calcium is good for the soil. I packed them out. So in short, to me, not acceptable.
  7. I've experienced the exact same problem. So I'd also be keen to fix my pair if there is a reasonably priced solution. Such comfortable bib shorts otherwise!
  8. The number for metro (wsar) is 021 9370300. Always best to call metro first if in a remote wilderness area.
  9. Ja, that's the problem. Local is fine, but sending overseas via courier is way too expensive. I'm looking at an average package worth R600 to R800. With international shipping at R900 it doesn't make sense.
  10. Hi, which couriers do you use. I am struggling to find an affordable courier to send items overseas. Up until now sapo has been great with overseas deliveries as fast as 11 days! But with the unpredictability after the strike I would like to investigate other options.
  11. Your fault for finishing so late!
  12. I noticed something interesting the other day. I've been riding my wife's bike for the past couple of years as it's a more modern bike and I bought it for me... My bike is an old 80s bike with shimano biopace oval cranks. It has a 6 speed cluster with really tough gear ratios. I rode it for the first time in a while the other day and I was blown away by how easy a' tough' gear ratio felt. Dunno if I was having a low gravity day, but it made a big, noticeable difference. Changed my view of oval cranks!
  13. Quick question. Is using a tourniquet still recommended? I was under the impression that they were to be avoided.
  14. The trick is to do conties first, so you do the k@k road climb first. We parked at Hoogekraal today, did contermans and then the hoogies/faircape loop.
  15. Best Dylan cover has to be the Hendrix cover of 'all along the watchtower'! Another great one is the damned's cover of the Beatles' 'help', better than the original... in my opinion. I've recently been listening to lot's of post modern jukebox covers with my daughter lately. Really fun covers and worth a listen.
  16. I thoroughly enjoyed the race, three days of fantastic riding and lots of fun. Good mates, good vibe and good riding. What more could one ask for... It would be great to choose between doing day two of the stage race and the enduro on the Saturday. I had a bit of fomo as the enduro looked awesome. I did see one of the enduro riders doing day three of the stage race so maybe it was possible?

    Rugby...

Great game by Cronje at no. 9 as well!
  18. It's not the cheating that bothers me. But the fact that a rider on an ebike can influence a race overall. Non-ebike riders can definitely be advantaged by being 'pulled' by a rider on an ebike.
  19. I got a pair of these from bike24.
  20. Giant durbanville had some great deals on 2016 & 2017 anthems and trances.
  21. Please check and confirm! I'd be very interested to find out. Looking at those weights, the difference between the 175 and the 180 is a lot more than the 170 and the 175.
  22. So the story about the 170mm and 175mm crank arms being the same length but with the holes set 5 mm back isn't true.
  23. Well spotted, home away from home.
  24. There's a giant hiding somewhere!
