  1. I know Just wanted to clarify that for what he wanted to use it for, the cheapie should suffice.
  2. The stem is for the OP's daughter, so assuming she doesn't weigh anywhere near a triple figure number, and isn't an aspiring Rachael Atherton I don't see why the R180 stem wouldn't suffice should be plenty strong.
  3. What droo said.... Having said that, it still doesn't justify the huge price difference. You're also (as with everything else in life) paying quite a bit for the name
  4. Edit: nevermind.
  5. First post for stopping at red lights that actually makes sense.. Although I will still skip a red light if I feel its 100% safe to do so. I am also prepared to face the consequences of my actions should I be caught skipping said light.
  6. You say that like anarchy is a bad thing. Remember there are more than one accepted definitions of the word! I guess I don't have any big issues at hand then, as jumping a red robot (given the right circumstances) doesn't go against my moral compass at all!
  7. Good thread this, some nice useful info.
  8. Oh dear! this is going to open up a whole new can of worms Thanks for clearing that up though. I am now going to start cursing and judging every motorcyclist who illegally, but safely passes me in traffic.
  9. Couldn't have said it better.. This debate reminds me of something similar; Motorcyclists splitting lanes. Whilst it is apparently legal to lane split, it doesn't make it safe, in fact, it is the cause of many motorcyclists deaths. But people do it because they are allowed to, and I'm sure if they made it illegal many would still do it. So just because its not illegal to lane split doesn't mean its a good Idea, just as riding through a red robot on a bicycle is illegal, doesn't always make it a bad idea. Start taking responsibility for yourself and stop relying on silly laws to keep you safe, natural selection will prevail in the end...
  10. i agree, unfortunately bringing up silly examples is necessary in order to highlight the absurdity of posts like this: And please don't get me wrong, I am in agreement with a lot of the laws in place in our country, but these are the ones I would follow regardless of whether or not they were laws, because they make sense. Simple example: If I am driving in a school zone, or any residential area for that matter I wil stick to, and usually drive slower than the speed limit. But at 01h00 on a wednesday morning on the N1, when there are hardly any cars on the road, I wouldn't feel bad if a cruised along at +- 150km/h Edit: 150, not 15km/h
  11. I hope all you "law abiding citizens" pay your e-tolls on time, and don't let your young children sit closer than 12' to each other if they are wearing swimming costumes... I think the OP has a very good argument and cant believe so many peoples only reaction is to attack her personally. I for one would rather teach my child how to cross the street safely, regardless of traffic lights etc. than give them the impression that as long as the light is green - you can cross - first taxi running a red light and... boom, no more kid, but hey, at least they were crossing at a green light. Life is not black and white, so I don't see how following laws that are can work. Its all about personal freedom - If what I do does not cause harm to anyone else, there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to do it... In life, its the people who say ****this, this system doesn't work for me that change the world for the better, not the ones who say "its the law, so you must obey"
  12. Next they're gonna be releasing a saddle with a flesh light strapped to it... for the gents
  13. I have found motorcycle lube is too thick and sticky for bicycle chains. All they do is gunk up the chain and provide a nice sticky base for dust to stick to and form a grinding paste. Plus trying to clean it off is a pain in the ass!! Edit (I'm referring to the Castrol wax type lube here, not sure if some of the MC lubes are less thick and sticky)
  14. Shouldn't affect the sag - that's determined by the air pressure in the air spring. It will affect rebound and compression, But I think droo answered that one already.
  15. ' haha, come on les... Its #comeouttheclosetmonday today
  16. This sux, sorry to hear dude!
  17. As long as you're spending more on cycling than you are on golf... you should be fine
  18. Stop it with all these BMX related posts now!!! You gonna make me have to buy another BMX edit: Very cool write up BTW.
  19. Makes me wish I never got rid of my old CW Racing. Would have loved to restore that now.. Looking awesome though
  20. Yes and yes, my kids dont go anywhere without their seatbelts... and no (monogamous relationship = bareback fun ) edit: But yes, absolutely a personal choice.
  21. I remember those days. A lot of us grew up tearing around the neighborhood with no helmet. I dont think they even made bicycle helmets when I was growing up. There were also days where doctors used to endorse cigarette brands... Point is, when you gain knowledge, you should use that knowledge to make sure you and your family are safe. Even if stats show that a large percentage of bicycle accidents don't involve your head (nofearnofun excluded ), if I know a helmet could save my life in that one crash that does, then I think its worthwhile. Are you being serious? or just trying to stir the pot? Nobody plans to fall, and if you haven't fallen either you are not pushing yourself to become a better rider, or you only ride up and down your driveway - even then you will probably eventually fall. I would have liked to see how well your dads arm worked when you were slamming into another car, and not just hard braking. But hey, like I said, I dont give a s**t what other people do as long as I can keep the people close to me safe.
  22. Again it all boils down to natural selection. These children will probably grow up to be as dumb as their parents, we should leave them be and let nature take its course...
  23. I have to disagree there... Riding my bike with my helmet on still feels awesome...
  24. Stop worrying about other peoples heads and worry about your, and your loved ones heads. The rest... its called natural selection
  25. Nice, big improvement over the white.
