Haven't been for weeks vrot with colds.Groups leave 07h30 Sat & Sun .At the moment, earlier in summer.Swartkoppies rd & Kliprivier drive. Park at Panorama shop centre about a kilo from start corner Bellairs and Kliprivier. Some go long some go short. On Sat. normally marshalls on short route 40km.Slower to the back, the okes in front move.To take the short loop you have to go left just after the Shell garage and Lido hotel otherwise you're in for at least 70 possibly 80km.. Enjoy. PS Watch the Steps,(over R59 where you turn north again.) Guys have been robbed .Nothing lately . Stick with group you're all right.
  2. Cosmos was built in Vereeniging roundabout 1991. They had a shop at the local mall. And a cycle race to go along with the launch. I had a yellow one with an Exage 5000 groupset, and an eliptical chainring called biopace. I think they also built Alpina. Very ,very sorry that I got rid of it.
  3. "Die beste stuurlui staan aan wal."Rough translation : The okes who think they can do a better job are all standing ashore. How big an expose` could you have in one insert? If only one stabbing or rape gets prevented due to this program, it was already worth it. I was hijacked 2years ago on a roadbike. Not a nice experience. Joined the facebook page.Made a small donation. Agree need to know where the money goes.
  4. The Average National Cycle team.
  5. If Mark and Mark end up somewhere together then "Renshaw could still launch the Cavendish missile". In Phil speak that is.
  6. Family member worked in the mine years ago. Wife was a teacher.Lots of headaches down there. So he cut pills from white chalk, they worked like dynamite. No pun intended.
  7. Stop at about 10. That's when the weight starts to neutralize all the positive effects. A nice girl riding in front also works for me.
  8. A year or so ago Beeld had an article about these bands. Tim Noakes said it was nonsense. That's good enough for me. They also found that these things are all made in China. At a cost of a few CENTS each. If you buy one you may NOT complain about the price of red meat EVER again !!!!!
  9. There I was in the Cape shooting my mouth off about T d F ,Cat climbs etc. Found out the other guy watching new much ,much more than I did. Two afternoons worth remembering. It's a small world.
  10. I have a RC 3000.Blue one. 2006? No problems with it.If the frame is made ok, surely its down to the specs in a certain price range. I get the feeling that some animosity towards the brand comes from the bike shops.(Chris Willemse's post, and the owner of my LBS pulling his face at the brand) Was the return for stocking them too small?Or problems from Raleigh management side. Anyway I'm hanging on to mine ,it may become a keepsake.
  11. Lekker storie this one print and keep for the kids one day.
  12. Got the socks ,now if I can just find a cycling shirt and shorts that resembles a safari suit.....
  13. And to hell with long slow distance. If I remember correctly this laaitie goes from average to superfit in 3 weeks. And the russian only grunts, no talking. Edit.So it was on LAST night sorry i missed it.
  14. Lightly smoked shaved chicken on crispy wholewheat , with a dash of lite mayo.Tomato not too ripe, crispy lettuce please . Ooh! Was that a waterbottle against my head.
  15. Thanks ,the price I pay for being the joker in the class.
  16. An interesting article in the TdF magazine compares roads in SA to those in Europe. It seems that we just don't have tarred roads with the length and incline of those in Europe. If I remember correctly Sani Pass' if it was tarred would be a Cat 1 climb.Drove up Franschoek and Bainskloof passes just last week.Beautifull and steep for an amateur like myself and I would love to ride them. Maybe it has to do with logistics and sponsorships due to fewer numbers entering if the distances are too long.
  17. Phew ,pleased it wasn't started by Scott, Harry, Imraan and Tommy.
  18. My question is exactly the same.Saw a cannondale SL 2 for R 8000-00 at Tour de Frans.R 500-00 goodies thrown in. SLX XT.Looking to start out in MTB, I'm not too bothered with the tech stuff.(My roadbike is a pretty basic Raleigh RC 3000 that has served me well for six years) So many models and opinions to compare can be quite daunting.
  19. I also don't like spam ,but what about these reminders of races to enter for etc ? Last week I received an sms from an incurance co that had given me a raw deal before. Opted out,This week from Tour de Frans. I went and checked it out. Cannondale SL 2 SLX ST for R 8000-00 plus R 500-00 goodies thrown in.
  20. Vasbyt FRAIL.Keep safe.Hope you're sleeping allright.
  21. How about it guys from Winburg and Potties there must be someone with a place for Frail to sleep.Looking at the weather its going to get pretty cold. Frail, were looking out for you up here. Edit:Also Laingsburg
  22. Sonstraalhoogte is jy ernstig?Hier by ons is alles Casa dit en Villa dat en niemand weet wat dit beteken nie. Sorry spinning, kan nie help nie. Edit:Ook maar nog nuut hier . Welkom
  23. Can agree with Ledzep & Stones. I Wonder if any will remember Hocus Pocus by Focus .Great fun piece of rock nonsense from the 70's used by Nike (I think) during the 2010 World Cup.50-60 age groupers unite!
  24. My sympathy and pleased injuries weren't too serious.I had a look on the website.Picture on home page makes it look like a no no for normal tar roads with cars. All pictures are in rural settings.Recommends rides in forests etc etc.(They do say this with the paws in mind. But still....) Also riding with a dog could leave you more prone to lapses in concentration as well as weaving, because of the low speeds. The road is dangerous enough without any distractions. Im not critisising, just an opinion. After all I may be the next guy to be clipped.
  25. So feeling better can make you go faster. My wife says sometimes after an altercation with motorists, that I should rinse with soap. Another way of improving your time is to promise to be home at 9h30 for church. The group for some reason leaves 10 min late..... On the same site an article with the view that ordinary sugary drinks (as opposed to low GI DURING the event) is still the best option. And that all the hype about spiking is not correct.
