  1. What about your partner in crime? I want my share Flemish Lion2008-10-14 06:04:16
  2. This is a nice article about the guy who beat (you know who) in that mtbike race in the Rockies... (2 pages)... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/14/sports/othersports/14cycling.html?_r=3&oref=slogin&oref=slogin&oref=slogin
  3. I'm joining you in VA's - also 1st time! Looks like we'll have to warm-up for some seriaas climbing... It'll be tough to make up 25 mins on the elite ladies... the wife can see me finish for a change... Any info about the route is welcome...
  4. Fritz Pienaar - park there and they'll know exactly where you get on the Spruit and maybe tell you about other routes... Else from there cycle up Witkoppen and take a left at Cambridge Rd, then a first left again and you'll hit the Spruit...Flemish Lion2008-10-10 06:57:28
  5. I'm not so sure... we may have to dim the lights a bit more
  6. I ran into the same chap, maybe just after or before you. Shortish guy, dark hair, European accent? I went to see if I could spot the bastards, but they were long gone. Please be very cautious when using the Spruit. flemish lion, was that you? Soek jy vir probleme I lost my accent a while back and last time my wife checked - my hair was blond This is a serious matter Legend - it could have been me... hope it doesn't happen - EVER...
  7. here's a show....take AM's bike' date=' and go for it , with a split screen, showing you on his bike, the other side showing his facial expressions [/quote'] What a brilliant idea
  8. That would make a 10/10 episode!!!! Sponsor me a bike and I'll show you a thing or two
  9. I waved/said hello at/to you guys when I cycled past - sorry for NOT phoning to confirm you were ok It looked like there were more than 10 capable hands to assist you... Good to hear you made it to the office safely!!
  10. Now start praying it won't be a windy Argus Your time will largely depend on your start group and race conditions. Train right, eat right and enjoy it!! Why focus on time - focus on improving your overall and once your in A, your group position... I got 7th in A's last year - time to join the safer VA section!!
  11. "... ride without gloves!!" ............... very stupid advice....... it is difficult to hold the remote to change channels on DSTV without any skin on the palms of your hand. nonsense.. I road thousands and thousands of km's for years without gloves and have all my skin... never had a single blister or crack on my hands in all those years... the only time I ever road with gloves was when doing crits cause there was a better chance of crashing... You are one lucky dude!!!!!...... or you do not own a TV and DSTV!!!!!! Stop cycling and start playing the Lotto...... tell me' date=' do you ride the commuter trains on the Cape Flats as well?????? BTW................. I still think you are dumb to ride without gloves....... iets soos om die leeu se hol te krap met 'n grassie!!!!!!!![/quote'] Let him do what to my backside don't give him any ideas... I train without gloves (wife tunes me) and race with gloves... it's upto us - we know about the consequences of NOT wearing gloves!
  12. Mmm... I'm afraid milky will overtrain at this rate Make sure you do enough recovery rides... Just find a 'fast' group to train with, so you have to put in that extra effort - its hard to punish yourself - just focus on their wheels and keep the vomit in TNT1 - I'm hoping by next year she will be...
  13. He waits till I come past and tags his bungy rope... Just enjoy this funride and don't stress so much!!Flemish Lion2008-10-07 05:32:36
  14. a pic from the past - donkey's hand' date=' after he had turned pro. [/quote'] when you say turned pro, are you referring to cycling? or the cracked thumb skin thing... Not to the thump. But I am not sure if Donkey wants this story to be published! The good old days - Donkey eating his tomatoes before the start of his first race
  15. Donkey - get of your lazy ass and get your hands dirty! Don't be such a girl - Oh - I forgot - you are in MANY ways
  16. You just couldn't wait to get that in, could you! The similarities between Belgian men and beer don't end there though: they are both a bit old fashioned, short and stubby, mostly found in bottle stores, have very thick heads and need to be replaced often by another to prevent boredom. Beat that! you clearly have met flemish then? I expected a backlash from my original post - but wasn't prepared for a KO You must be talking about the 'OLD' Belgians - I'm one of the 'NEW' kind - NEW and IMPROVED - still short though Eish - how to get out of this one By changing the topic again. Where did you end up doing your 4-5 hour MTB ride on Saturday? We ended up on the Spruit - the bike we borrowed was a bit of a nightmare as the shock leaked fast (had to lock it out) and the gears slipped (cable rusty and stuck) - so Jo didn't enjoy her ride! It also was the first time she mtbiked with proper shoes and cleats - she's not that confident for the Crater Cruise, so I think we'll ride together and enjoy it! Hopefully we can sort out the bike soon! So after 3 hrs playing around on the mtbikes we went for another 3hrs on the road...Flemish Lion2008-10-07 03:11:36

  18. my favourite bottles of beeer come with similar warnings' date=' although duvel's only around the 10% mark [/quote'] Belgian beers are just like Belgian hills, when compared to their Dutch counterparts: They have higher percentages, are slightly rougher, you can handle less of them in one go and boy, do you remember them the day after! Oh, and they are talked about and longed for all over the world. Belgian men/hills/beers you say - finally you're talking sense!!
  19. helpful' date=' as we are, to clean that grease off from your skin and make you feel better with some body lotion and massage. All innocent and for your own good! (PM me if interested) [/quote'] Why don't you reply your pm's
  20. I cycled through the 'bush-sleepers' soccor field on the Spruit this Sunday, by mistake and I wasn't at ease, but the guys just stopped playing for a sec and directed me into the 'right' direction... They probably left me alone when seeing my huge bisceps (read brown stuff running down my leg)
  21. Eish - I did and I regret it
  22. Thanks for clearing that up Hagar - best cyclist ever!

  24. Hey IanJ - Jo and I will attend tonights session - we've been off the bike for a few weeks now... see how much pain you can inflict on us... Set yourself a goal - don't let Jo beat you
